Well my friend answer this...why do we need to be Born Of The “ Spirit “?
"Let the dead bury their dead!"
We’re you not once spiritually dead?
The phrase is rather loaded isn't it? If by this you mean I was once unenlightened to the knowledge of Christ and the means by which God made atonement for my life then, yes!
Or have you always known Gods witness His Living Holy Spirit?
Even Jesus had to grow in such things!
How do you know that God and Jesus truly exists, just by reading your Bible?
Psalm 19 has the answer.
The two books principle!
1. Things God has made declare His Handiwork
2. Things God has recorded being His Will & Purpose
These two combined are seen perfectly in the Life of the Lord Jesus Christ who is God's Handiwork and Living Word!
If you haven't studied Psalm 19 and you would like to understand this more feel free to ask.
You need to know Him somewhere else before you can ever come to understand His written word?
Ah! There it is...I knew it would come out eventually! I've been waiting for you to position this deception.
Good grief without the precious gift of Faith and being Born Of The Spirit, ..we would be leading ourselves through scripture...which I’m afraid counts for nothing.
So where does your faith and spirit come from if its not the Word of God?
We need that Living vital ingredient, who is that?
Who only has the supernatural/spiritual power to lead us through the written word in spirit?
It’s certainly not us..I’ve more or less given you the answer my friend?
What in you has been quickened?
Ephesians 2:1
“And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins;”
Hmmm maybe you are importing foreign ideas here!
As the Apostle said, if we are
buried with him (Christ) in baptism, wherein also you
are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who
hath raised him (Christ) from the dead. And you,
being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh,
hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses.”
Colossians 2:12-16
The quickening, or making alive, is the consequence of forgiveness and is bound up with baptism. One of the features of this passage, as of Eph. 2 : 5–6, is Paul’s repeated use of words compounded with the prefix syn,
with. I liken it to being
“coburied with him”, “co-raised with him”, “co-quickened”: hence the strongest emphasis is given to the believer’s union with Christ in his burial and raising up and revivifying, and this union is effected by faith through baptism. And not only so, but Christ’s death on the Cross is a fulfilment of the type of circumcision, a
“putting off of the body of the flesh”, and with this too the believer identifies himself in baptism. This participating in the crucifixion is also characteristic of Paul’s thought, for he can say, “I am crucified with Christ”.
However, the fulfillment of Colossians 2:12-16 & Ephesians 2:5-6 will not take place until the promised resurrection, or the change from being mortal (now) to immortal, from corruptible (now) to incorruptible.
For now you have faith (true, or false) and that is all.
We live by promise being the children of promise!
