Nothing can thwart the will of God...just as His word says.

Isaiah 14

New International Version

14 The Lord will have compassion on Jacob;
once again he will choose Israel
and will settle them in their own land.
Foreigners will join them
and unite with the descendants of Jacob.
2 Nations will take them
and bring them to their own place.
And Israel will take possession of the nations
and make them male and female servants in the Lord’s land.
They will make captives of their captors
and rule over their oppressors.
3 On the day the Lord gives you relief from your suffering and turmoil and from the harsh labor forced on you, 4 you will take up this taunt against the king of Babylon:
How the oppressor has come to an end!
How his fury[a] has ended!
5 The Lord has broken the rod of the wicked,
the scepter of the rulers,
6 which in anger struck down peoples
with unceasing blows,
and in fury subdued nations
with relentless aggression.
7 All the lands are at rest and at peace;
they break into singing.
8 Even the junipers and the cedars of Lebanon
gloat over you and say,
“Now that you have been laid low,
no one comes to cut us down.”
9 The realm of the dead below is all astir
to meet you at your coming;
it rouses the spirits of the departed to greet you—
all those who were leaders in the world;
it makes them rise from their thrones—
all those who were kings over the nations.
10 They will all respond,
they will say to you,
“You also have become weak, as we are;
you have become like us.”
11 All your pomp has been brought down to the grave,
along with the noise of your harps;
maggots are spread out beneath you
and worms cover you.
12 How you have fallen from heaven,
morning star, son of the dawn!
You have been cast down to the earth,
you who once laid low the nations!
13 You said in your heart,
“I will ascend to the heavens;
I will raise my throne
above the stars of God;
I will sit enthroned on the mount of assembly,
on the utmost heights of Mount Zaphon.[b]
14 I will ascend above the tops of the clouds;
I will make myself like the Most High.”
15 But you are brought down to the realm of the dead,
to the depths of the pit.
16 Those who see you stare at you,
they ponder your fate:
“Is this the man who shook the earth
and made kingdoms tremble,
17 the man who made the world a wilderness,
who overthrew its cities
and would not let his captives go home?”
18 All the kings of the nations lie in state,
each in his own tomb.
19 But you are cast out of your tomb
like a rejected branch;
you are covered with the slain,
with those pierced by the sword,
those who descend to the stones of the pit.
Like a corpse trampled underfoot,
20 you will not join them in burial,
for you have destroyed your land
and killed your people.
Let the offspring of the wicked
never be mentioned again.
21 Prepare a place to slaughter his children
for the sins of their ancestors;
they are not to rise to inherit the land
and cover the earth with their cities.
22 “I will rise up against them,”
declares the Lord Almighty.
“I will wipe out Babylon’s name and survivors,
her offspring and descendants,”
declares the Lord.
23 “I will turn her into a place for owls
and into swampland;
I will sweep her with the broom of destruction,”
declares the Lord Almighty.
24 The Lord Almighty has sworn,
“Surely, as I have planned, so it will be,
and as I have purposed, so it will happen.
25 I will crush the Assyrian in my land;
on my mountains I will trample him down.
His yoke will be taken from my people,
and his burden removed from their shoulders.”
26 This is the plan determined for the whole world;
this is the hand stretched out over all nations.
27 For the Lord Almighty has purposed, and who can thwart him?
His hand is stretched out, and who can turn it back
?

lol..

Matthew 23:37

“O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the one who kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to her! How often I wanted to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, but you were not willing!

Did they not resist the will of God?

After Jesus ascended to Heaven, then the Holy Spirit and Grace came to all who believed on Christ Jesus. Tulip then kicked in. All people that God called were, and are, being saved. If you are filled with the Holy Spirit, it was all God's work, none of your own. No human being could possibly resist the call of God.

Absolutely not!!

The night I became Born Again, my spirit fell in Love with Gods Spirit.

His Spirit is Love and there is NO LOVE on the planet that is anywhere near as STRONG as Gods Love.

My spirit is so very secure in the Spirit Of God....He Loves me 24/7...

I was responding to the Matthew comment. That the Holy Spirit and Grace didn't arrive until Jesus went up to heaven and sent the Holy Spirit.

27 For Yahweh of hosts has planned, and who will frustrate [it]? And his hand [is] stretched out, and who will turn it back? 27 When the Lord All-Powerful makes a plan, no one can stop it. When the Lord raises his hand to punish people, no one can stop it

Of course not, no one can be Born Again by Gods Spirit, not until after the death and resurrection of Jesus.

We are Born Of Spirit....we are Gods spiritual children.

Biblical spirituality centres in the relationship between the elect com- munity and the God who called forth that community. It is this relation- ship that enables the community to understand itself, its place in the world, its distinction from other nations, its destiny under the deity's leadership

We are Born Of Spirit.
Jesus was crucified, resurrected, and glorified. Jesus spent 40 days with the Apostles, then ascended while the Apostles were watching. Jesus said to wait in Jerusalem, for the Holy Spirit. Are we on the same page now?.

We needed the death and resurrection of Jesus ...in order that we can become Born Again.

No death / resurrection of Jesus....No Born Of The Spirit.

That is our only way back to God.we are reconciled back to God via being Born Again by His Living Witness the Living Holy Spirit.

Without the death and resurrection of Jesus..the whole world would be in total darkness and alienated from the Spirit of God.

We must be “ Born Again “ to see the Kingdom Of God....Born Again in our spirit.

Curious what your take is on Original Sin. Calvin's TULIP relies on that theory being accurate or else the entire doctrine falls apart.
Well Adams fall is the original sin. All men after that as it says in SCripture are born in the image of Adam and not God.

Genesis 5

King James Version

5 This is the book of the generations of Adam. In the day that God created man, in the likeness of God made he him;
2 Male and female created he them; and blessed them, and called their name Adam, in the day when they were created.
3 And Adam lived an hundred and thirty years, and begat a son in his own likeness, and after his image; and called his name Seth:

This is important. Adam was made in teh image of God. but because of His fall He died spiritually and tghe very nature of man changed.

What does this mean that the elect receive the atonement?

What do others receive then?

None of this has been brought to my understanding by the Spirit...maybe he will explain it to me through you?

I certainly know 100% that I am Born Again...

Does this mean that only a certain amount of people will be Born Again?

I certainly understand the erasing of sins..mine were erased the night I became Born Again.....

Or maybe @Rockerduck can explain it to me?
Well yes, there will be only a certain number that are born again. Only God knows that number.

All who are born again (who have trusted in teh death and resurrection of Jesus) receive the atonement- the erasing of their sin.

Short commentary
What is meant by perseverance of the saints?
Definition. The doctrine of Perseverance of the Saints asserts that the elect will persevere in faith until the end of their lives and ultimately achieve salvation. Those who are truly born again are the elect who will persevere to the end.
Absolutely. We are kept by the power of God and our salvation is reserved in heaven. also as is written when He appears we shall appear with Him.

Holy spirit and Grace came to all who believed.

They still have to believe. and they can still resist the will of God.

God does not force us to believe in him..

Perseverance of the saints or once saved always saved (OSAS) basically comes down to that it is someone is saved until if they lose faith. Then the reason for their apostasy isn't that they lost faith, but rather never had true saving faith in the first place; they weren't of the elect. It's a different theology to explain the same phenomenon non-Reformed people call apostasy while in Reformed theology there can't logically be apostasy.

There is a disadvantage of P in compared to non-Reformed theology. Under the perseverance of the saints theory, it's impossible to know who is actually saved and who isn't. How does one know they are elected if there are no shortage of examples of people who seemed to have sincere faith, lost it, and how do you know you aren't going to be one of them? At least to the non-Reformed, the line between saved and not saved is clear while in Reformed theology it seems like who is saved is anyone's guess.
We are not to know who is and is not saved. We can assume by what we see, but only god knows the heart.

and I agree with you, that if one apostsizes from th efaith, they were never saved to begin with and left as John said they would in his epistle.

1 John 2:19
They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would no doubt have continued with us: but they went out, that they might be made manifest that they were not all of us.

What does those who believe in freewill mean?

Not causing waves, just trying to understand what freewill means?

I know I was chosen and predestined to become Born Again....we know 100% in our spirit that we are Born Again, why do some believe they can lose their salvation?

The security that we have in our spirit is phenomenal....there is our witness the Living Holy Spirit....never ever to leave our spirit, we are in Christ and He in us...

Spirit gives birth to spirit!
Basically the theory of free will states that an unsaved person, in their natural fallen state can freely choose to accept Jesus on the basis of their own free will.

there are variations, but that is the basic theory. It doesn't refer to day to day decisions we make in living, but exclusively about how a person can get saved.

That is why I posted all teh verses I did. Scripture clearly shows that an unsaved person in their natural state is unable to accept Jesus as Savior.

We need to remain faithful till the end to be saved. There are NO conditions to an INITIAL election. But after that we need to be faithful. Those who remain with the Lord in eternity are called chosen AND faithful.

These shall make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb shall overcome them: for he is Lord of lords, and King of kings: and they that are with him are called, and chosen, and faithful. Rev. 17:14
You add works in order to stay saved and that is not so. Saving faith will cause the believer to do th eworks god called for them to do. How faithfully is unknown.

Works are the result of being saved and becoming a new creation being conformed into the image of Jesus. They have nothing to do with maintaining salvation but are a visible sign we are saved. At salvation we were sealed, dead and hidden in Jesus, salvation kept in heaven, and given eternal life , not a probationary eternal life.

By definition,there can be no such thing as, "Freewill" . If, by definition, one first accepts God is "Sovereign".

Further,there are no scriptures that tell us we can freely choose to accept the Gospel of our own volition.
In fact,we are told by God,if we believe the Bible to be God's word, just the opposite .

Further, the acronym T.U.L.I.P only synopsized what is taught throughout the New Testament well prior to Calvin and those others who preceded him and also taught the same thing.

These teachers got these teachings from God and his word.

If God is sovereign, And if he is love, He has every right to prove that love by setting his sovereignty aside to allow for free will.

Otherwise we are all but robots.. Which was satans lie to begin with. and why 1/3 of the heavenly host fell with him. And most of Gods human creation will reject him also.

At salvation we were sealed, dead and hidden in Jesus, salvation kept in heaven, and given eternal life , not a probationary eternal life.
I think you are confusing eternal life with an after-life...a Valhalla kind of life after you die. Do you see that as "going to heaven"??? You could be mixed up with that and the KIND of life that Jesus was resurrected to give those who come after Him.

A further confusion is you are confusing works of the law (Judaism) which are in one's own strength....and the works OF Christ which the saint walks in. We will be judged by our works not our beliefs....of what kind they are, whether they are eternal works from a heavenly power, or else a human work done in the reasoning of the mind.

And your idea of "being saved" is a religious one...NOT based on the power of God that translates a person into the higher kingdom walk right now.
