Yes, of course God commanded them a long time ago. And yes, one particular sacrifice foreshadowed the cross. But this does not mean that God won't institute them again. I don't dismiss them as easily as you do.
How do you reconcile your belief in future animal sacrifices with this:
Hebrews 10:8 First he said, “
Sacrifices and offerings, burnt offerings and sin offerings you did not desire, nor were you pleased with them”—though they were offered in accordance with the law. 9
Then he said, “Here I am, I have come to do your will.” He sets aside the first to establish the second. 10 And
by that will, we have been made holy through the sacrifice of the body of Jesus Christ once for all. 11 Day after day every priest stands and performs his religious duties; again and again he offers the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins. 12 But
when this priest had offered for all time one sacrifice for sins, he sat down at the right hand of God, 13 and since that time he waits for his enemies to be made his footstool. 14
For by one sacrifice he has made perfect forever those who are being made holy.
This makes it clear that the Lord does not desire animal sacrifices and offerings. It says Jesus set all that aside, which was part of the old covenant and established the new covenant through His "once for all" sacrifice which was the "all time one sacrifice for sins". So, with this in mind, why would animal sacrifices and offerings, which the Lord does not desire and is not pleased with, ever be reinstated?
The Lord will once again institute the sacrifices during that time in our future when God chooses to sanctify his holy name.
Why? If you can't answer this question, then you can't be taken seriously. If you just say that He has His reasons, but we don't know what they are, that is a weak argument that can't be taken seriously. There is no chance whatsoever that if animal sacrifices were to be performed again in the future that scripture would not give the reason and purpose for them.
