I avoid the news as much as possible in part because I hear about important things anyway.

Gen Z (ages 18-29) men are increasingly holding conservative views about dating and gender roles in particular while women are still very liberal.

Im going to link some articles and a video just to show I didn't make this up but if you read them, understand that they're likely written from a liberal point if view.

An ideological shift?

How Men and Women Are Dividing On Politics

My husband and I are Gen Z by the skin of our teeth. I'm 29, he'll be 29 this year. We married at 19/20. He was liberal in the beginning and I was actually more conservative. He converted to Christianity as we got to know each other.

I just think most Gen Z singles will have the opposite experience. I joined a Reddit group for Christian single discussion topics recently because singles don't just need to hear advice from other singles.

I saw a pattern. The men who posted dating profiles were open to women with kids, different ages, and different locations, but they wanted women who would see them as leaders, women who wanted children, and in many cases...trad wives.

The women wanted men who were spiritually mature amongst other things but a lot of them added things like "not into the trad wife thing, sorry", "I want an egalitarian marriage", "Please keep in mind, I have progressive views"

There were a lot of posts from singles in despair about dating. Mostly from men not getting opportunities to date at all and women not liking their options at all.

I think the conservative men should be open to using different methods for finding women besides dating apps. Dating apps are designed to make money, not great matches.

Proverbs 31 suggests a virtuous woman is hidden and hard to find. God can help reveal her, so rely on Him. He understands and its not wrong to want a good wife. It just might not happen right away.

As for the women being liberal... stop it. Do better. If nothing else, do not just take advice from other single women about dating and having good relationships. Men have to have qualities women want to date successfully. Women do too. To find out what men want, ask the men.

I've used dating apps in the past but there's many reasons I wouldn't use them if I was still looking now. Unfortunately a lot of people on them are looking for fornication with strangers.

I think with politics it can depend where you meet them too, you're more likely to meet a conservative person who wants a traditional marriage if you meet at a church event in the country, and more likely to meet a liberal person on a dating app or at a club in the city. So if that matters a lot to a person, they can look depending on that.

Do you mind if I ask about your husband's conversion, such as what got him interested in Christianity and was it more based on understanding of theology or on a experience with the Holy Spirit?

I don't mind. If you're new to the forum, welcome.

The theology and worldview discussions came first with my husband and I. I was trying to friend zone him but I also assumed he was already a Christian by mistake, or I wouldn't have been so open.

He said I was the first Christian to not dismiss his questions and answer them non-defensively. I had a love for theology and apologetics that I was happy to share. I didn't mind his questions because I had most of the same ones. We both were in a left leaning environment with plenty of secular humanist ideals. I had just converted a few years before at age 13/14.

He began to seek God on his own. He went to church with his parents. Seeing that the Christian worldview was beginning to make sense, he asked God for some sign that He was real.

Immediately, he recieved an outpouring of the Holy Spirit and began to speak in tongues.

Soon after, God told him to marry me.

Our marriage had a lot of big highs and low lows in the beginning. Just because I wanted to be a submissive wife didn't mean I had any idea how to live that out. And most men today at 19 are emotionally immature. He was especially so.

In time, he catapulted ahead in maturity. There's no one else I admire more in this whole world now.

This is why a lot of men are going overseas to find a wife. They have not been infected by Western liberalism and feminism, yet.

My wife is from South America, and we met on social media. She randomly found me online and wanted someone to practice English with. I didn't think much of it at the time, and I certainly wasn't looking for an online relationship. But in time we developed a friendship, and that slowly turned into a relationship. And by slow, I mean slow. I met her online in 2008 when MySpace was a thing, and it wasn't until 2022 that we got married. She's a Christian also but a Catholic (I'm non-denomational protestant). Luckily, that isn't an issue for us.

Though I’m in a relationship, and have been happily so for several years. We’ve been dating 8 years now. Known each other for 10. Probably getting married next year. She’s just finishing up some family matter back in China for the time being. She’s been there over two years now. Been rough but we are faithfully committed.

I am also a liberal Christian with progressive views. When I was looking for a woman, regardless if it was someone I met online or in person, this is what I look for.

1. They must be attractive to me. A woman can have all the other boxes check, but if I am not physically attracted to them then I’m not interested in being more than friends. If we are attracted to each other, and get together, and they get out shape, and choose to not work on their health and fitness again then I’ll probably break up with them just like I would expect them to do if I got sloppy. If we are married, and have been together for a while, I probably would not break up with them. Like with my fiancee now. Love her a lot. If she got in an accident or something and I was no longer attracted to her I would still choose to remain committed to her faithfully. If she just got out of shape, I would encourage her to get back into being healthy and fit and I would put more pressure on the foods we buy, the stuff we drink and so on. A little overweight is fine. But I am not into morbidly obese or obese women. We can be friends, but with a partner I’m looking for someone healthy and fit. Also since I’m a heterosexual cis man, I am only interested in dating a cis woman. I support trans woman as being women, and understand how gender is a social role, but it’s a no go when it comes to dating/sex. Just cis women.

2. Out of those who there is mutual attraction the other things I look for are:

A. Vegan or vegetarian. Someone who understands the abuse and suffering with animals and won’t to reduce how much they contribute to it where possible. If they are struggling, and occasionally eat meat, it’s not a complete deal breaker but it is if they are someone who just wants to eat it often. Won’t ever be able to cook meat on my grill or in my pans. My kids will be raised on a vegan/vegetarian diet. Heavily on the vegan side of vegetarian.

B. I don’t care if the persons faith is strictly Christianity as long as they are someone who recognizes that God is real and has reached out through mankind in many ways. That Jesus is the the incarnation/reflection of a cosmic being of goodness and love. Many different faiths are opened up to Jesus as divine and an agent of God.

C. They must also be socially liberal. I’ll never date a person who wants to deny consenting adults the rights on how they dress, express themselves , or what their gender or orientation is. They have to be someone that believes that a big focus of taxes should be on restoring their world to an Eden like state by protecting not only the marginalized and others suffering but also wildlife. Someone who is into ecology/stewardship theology and creation care. Someone who cares about the environment.

D. They must understand and accept science. Someone who rejects scientific consensus in general is a no go for me. I can’t be with a woman who’s going to try to teach our kids to ignore experts, believe in a 6,000 year old flat world protected by a dome. They need to understand and accept at least a 12th grade level of the new modern synthesis which includes the theory of evolution.

E. They have to be ok with horror. They don’t have to think it’s the best, but I am a huge horror nerd. I watch and read almost exclusively horror for my fictional entertainment. I go to horror clubs, to horror conventions and often host horror themed parties. I am part of two horror associations where I live and once a month we often go to the theaters to watch some horror film. If they hate horror, we will be constantly at ends.

F. They need to be outdoorsy. I hike 2-4 miles a day almost every day and often I hike 8+ miles. On Saturday I hiked 10 miles. Today, on Sunday, I hiked 8. I enjoy kayaking, bird watching, mushroom foraging and field botany. Most non fiction I watch and read is connected to the wilderness from keys and guides to natural history. If they don’t like being outdoors, we will run into again a lot of conflict.

But it’s very easy to find vegetarian/vegan healthy and fit spiritual women who enjoy horror and hiking while holding to liberal stances.
