According to Romans 11, there is a clear distinction between Israel and the Gentile world. Branches were broken off the Vine, so that we (Gentiles) could he grafted in. They were blinded for our sake, but soon their blindness will be removed and a remnant of some 15 million Jews will be saved - likely 1/3. It is no coincidence that of the world population, 1/3 are Christians, 2.65 billion and counting. Yes, the families of all the earth were blessed because of the chosen nation.
In Revelation, we see ten nations coming against Jerusalem (the nation of Israel) and God destroying those nations and then Jesus taking up residence there in Jerusalem ( in His newly constructed Temple on Mt.Zion) for 1000 years and a world of Christian nations coming to worship our Lord annually.

The promises were and are made to Abraham, to his seed Christ, and to those who are in Christ.

Nothing to do with anyone, Jew or Gentile, who is not in Christ.

God is not a racist.

He is done with anyone who is not in Christ.

Paul distinguishes between those who are in Christ ("all Israel"), and those who are not ("of Israel"). That is not determined by bloodline.

Only one of these two Israels shall be saved.

Yes, sin is a terrible, awful, ugly... terrible thing. As the writer of Ecclesiastes says, there is nothing new under the sun.

Regarding Germany, I think they were swayed" for a number of reasons, included among them were that many did not know what was really going on (ignorance, at least with regard to extermination of the Jews in particular), and fear of the state, and patriotism, which in this case might better be called idolatry. So ignorance, fear, and idolatry... in general, sin.

In Germany prior to WW2 (say from 1900 to 1940), the Jews were hated because they were "other". As a rule, they lived in Ghettos (communities comprised of one group of people - like the Italian North Ward in Newark, NJ or the many Jewish communities throughout Europe). This was partly the result of external forces - German Christians were reluctant to hire Jewish workers. This was partly the result of internal forces - Orthodox Jews would not marry outside of their faith/community, they wore distinctive clothing that identified them as "Jewish" and different from non-Jewish Germans. Forced to start their own businesses, made them entrepreneurs and, thus, wealthier than laborers. [Just like Christian Business owners tended to be wealthier than Christian workers.]

All these factors created a real, natural and easily perceived division between the Jewish German community and the rest of German Society. The harsh conditions of the Post WW1 period [caused by heavy reparations and a world-wide recession] made the German working class unhappy and caused them to seek someone to blame. The real reasons were complex, but pointing a finger at easily identified people who were wealthy business owners was simple and easy to understand. [Even if untrue.]

He was naturally given to dramatic exaggeration in his writing [unless you also believe that the Pope in the 1500's really was THE ANTICHRIST ... in which case the Tribulation and Millennium have both already passed us by.] Luther started out advocating FOR the Jewish community in a time when non-Christians had few if any legal rights. Luther started a massive evangelical effort to reach the German Jews with the Gospel. It was after this Gospel Outreach was widely rejected by the Jewish community, that Luther turned his pen and fiery rhetoric against the Jews with the same ferocious passion that he had turned against the Pope he once served as a monk. It is from these late writings of Martin Luther that people pluck his choice prose about burning Jews in their synagogues. For a complete picture, one should also quote from Luther's early works. [Of course a "complete picture" is the last thing most who quote that are looking for.]

The "Church fathers" is an interesting term. First, most of the writings of the Church Fathers come from so long after the Apostles that they are actually more like the Church "great-great-great-great grandchildren" (often many more generations removed). However, those that do qualify were living under persecution by the Jewish Synagogue that was attempting to stamp out a heretical cult of Judaism. They earned the right to speak badly of their persecutors. Most of the rest, were ignorant bureaucrats who rose to power under Christian Rome (the empire) and were paying back what they had received. Hate for hate's sake. [That is NOT what Jesus taught and why CHURCH and STATE never mix well.]

You will need to be specific about the "Reformers". Huss was nothing like Luther who was nothing like Calvin who was nothing like Zwingli who was nothing like Tyndale. Many were Catholic attempting to reform the church in Rome and inherited the medieval prejudices and "stories", so hating Jews just came with the culture. After all, every Jew must have personally nailed the European Christian Jesus to the Cross, right?

The Apostle Paul was a Pharisee (a strict sect of Jews that believed that it was not enough to obey just the laws that God gave for the common people to obey, but EVERY Jew should obey all the laws that God gave the entire Levite community. Only when the nation was living pure lives, according to the Levitical Law, would the Messiah return to save the nation. That is what all Pharisees believed.) Paul was a Pharisee among Pharisees ... he did it MORE and BETTER than anyone! So when Jesus saved Paul, he understood that NOBODY could keep the Law good enough (because he tried and came closer than anyone and STILL FAILED!)

So Paul LOVED his people and even wished that he could be damned if that would save them. Paul pitied the Pharisees and their vain folly to live perfect lives. Paul pleaded in the synagogues for Jews to stop trying to carry an impossible burden and trust in Christ - the one that already carried that burden for us.

What Paul hated was those that came behind him and attempted to place the YOKE of a law that no Jew could follow on the backs of those Gentiles that he had told of the freedom in Christ and they had believed. It was just THOSE SPECIFIC Jews that Paul suggested that rather than "circumcise" gentiles, they should "emasculate themselves"!

Jesus was born to Mary (Jewish) and raised by Joseph (Jewish) in Bethlehem (Jewish town) just a few miles from Jerusalem (location of the Jewish Temple to God). Jesus was born Jewish.

Most of Jesus' ministry centered around Capernum (a Jewish City full of Jewish people) where He attracted 70 Jewish Disciples to send out 2 by 2 and 12 Jewish Apostles to entrust with growing his Church after He was gone.

After Jesus ascension, 200 Jewish Christians were gathered in an Upper Room in Jerusalem when the Holy Spirit arrived and Peter (a Jew) spoke to a large crowd (of Jews) about Jesus death and resurrection and THOUSANDS of JEWISH people became "Messianic Christians" that day.

Throughout all of that, one small group challenged Jesus directly by claiming that the miracles which God was performing in Christ through the power of the Holy Spirit were being done by Beelzebub. They called him a Samaritan and claimed Jesus had a demon. Jesus called THEM "Children of your father, the devil".

That's a good question. Luther certainly did say some awful things near the end of his life. He was a man of God, but also a sinner, which doesn't excuse him, certainly, but accounts for why he said some awful things. And even so, that doesn't somehow negate or tarnish or invalidate the great things he had done earlier in his career for the sake of the spread of the Gospel, it just exposes him as a flawed sinner, like all us men (and women) are.

No, in Romans 11, Paul says (and I quote), "As regards the gospel, they are enemies for your sake. But as regards election, they are beloved for the sake of their forefathers..." Which is to say, John839, that the unbelief of ethnic Israel has benefited the Gentiles, i.e., this is the period of history in which Gentiles are being saved, while most ethnic Jews remain in unbelief. But God's electing promise given to their forefathers Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob will be fulfilled in the future. So ethnic Jews are not "the enemy of humankind"... Paul calls them no such thing, but rather enemies of the Gospel ~ unbelievers ~ for the sake of the Gentiles... for a period, until the full number of elect Gentiles is brought in to God's Israel, at which time the partial hardening on Israel will be removed and thus all Israel will be saved. If you read this correctly, you will understand that when you see ethnic Jews coming to Christ at a great rate, even enmasse, you will know that the fullness of the Gentiles has been brought in and the time of Christ's return is very near, even to us from our own perspective. You see?

In other words, their not being among His sheep was because the Father had not given them to Him, because their father was not Abraham but rather the devil... i.e., they were unbelievers, which all children of the devil are. And even on top of that, in our natural state ~ unless and until we are born again of the Holy Spirit ~ we are all children of the devil. So, as Paul says in Ephesians 2:4-10...

"But..." ~ BUT, the most glorious 'but' in all of scripture <smile> ~ "...God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ ~ by grace (we) have been saved ~ and raised us up with Him and seated us with Him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, so that in the coming ages He might show the immeasurable riches of His grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. For by grace (we) have been saved through faith. And this is not (our) own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast. And this properly applied to believing ethnic Jews as well as Gentiles ~ all believers of every tongue, tribe, and nation... all of God's elect.

Lol - you had me right up until "Clarification:"

He wrote another will 20 years earlier in the Landsberg Prison called "Mein Kampf" which makes perfectly clear what this dubious document doesn't.

I don't have much in the way of bragging rights but I was obsessed with WWII history (especially the European theater) for many, many years and I know for a very well-documented fact that Hitler had a pathological hatred for the Jewish race.

And, one day before his death Hitler was so stressed and drugged out that nothing he wrote could be taken seriously, even if it could be verified as genuine.
