The parable is showing that the church is not ready. All 10 asleep. However, half of them have the oil which is represent the Holy Ghost. Those that have the Holy Ghost and per Acts 2:38 will be taken. That is why you must obey Acts 2:38 and… Walk in the Spirit.
Uh, wrong.
Matt 25:1-13
25 Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten virgins, which took their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom.
All... 10 symbolic virgins had lamps with the OIL in them, and they all waited on Christ's coming. Jesus Christ is that symbolic "bridegroom".
2 And five of them were wise, and five were foolish.
3 They that were foolish took their lamps, and took no oil with them:
4 But the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps.
The 5 foolish virgins did not bring a 'spare vessel' of the Oil to go with their lamps. They only had the Oil that was in their lamps.
But the 5 wise virgins did bring a spare vessel of the Oil to go with the Oil in their lamps.
The symbolic Oil represents The Holy Spirit, which Jesus promised to those who believe on Him and are baptized. The Holy Spirit Jesus said will teach us all things.
(How then does the 5 foolish virgins not having a spare vessel of the Oil represent their deception? Whatever one believes, that's the idea Lord Jesus is pointing to; they didn't have enough of the Oil, i.e., understanding by The Holy Spirit. To me, that points to their having been deceived by men's false doctrines instead of staying in God's Word as written).
5 While the bridegroom tarried, they all slumbered and slept.
All 10 virgins slumbered and slept. That is meant simply that no man can know the day or hour of Lord Jesus' future coming. Because Jesus would not use that metaphor to point to His faithful Church (wise virgins) being deceived, it has to simply mean He was pointing to no one actually knowing the day or hour of His return, not even His very elect.
6 And at midnight there was a cry made, Behold, the bridegroom cometh; go ye out to meet him.
Since symbolic MIDNIGHT is when Jesus comes per the parable, it means the time just prior to that had... to have been the "great tribulation" represented by the 11th hour just prior to midnight.
7 Then all those virgins arose, and trimmed their lamps.
8 And the foolish said unto the wise, "Give us of your oil; for our lamps are gone out."
9 But the wise answered, saying, "Not so; lest there be not enough for us and you: but go ye rather to them that sell, and buy for yourselves."
How does the above fit Jesus' command for us to 'WATCH', lest we fail to recognize what 'watch' the thief would break in? (Jesus was using the idea of the Hebrew 'watch' periods from sundown to dawn).
The 5 foolish virgins did not 'watch'.
So they failed to recognize what 'watch' the thief would come. And per Rev.16:15, Jesus warned His Church that He comes "as a thief", and blessed are those who watch and keep their garments, lest they walk naked (symbolically) and show their shame.
How do those 5 foolish virgins show their deception? Simple, can one actually BUY that Oil that represents The Holy Spirit?? God forbid, NO! But that's what they try to do going to the market. And notice they come back empty handed and are turned away by Lord Jesus.
10 And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came; and they that were ready went in with him to the marriage: and the door was shut.
11 Afterward came also the other virgins, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us.
12 But he answered and said, "Verily I say unto you, I know you not."
13 Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh.
KJV
Who then would those 'sellers' represent??
Those represent Satan's servants that creep in pushing false doctrine designed to deceive brethren. You cannot BUY The Holy Spirit; remember Simon the sorcerer in Acts 8 that after he believed on Jesus he offered the Apostles money with trying to buy... The Holy Spirit. Can't buy it. Isn't that what some of the false churches actually are doing, using money to buy one's way into Heaven? Don't laugh, one of the old Catholic doctrines of men that Martin Luther hated was indulgences, paying money to get one's dead loved ones out of Purgatory.
The point is, the 5 foolish virgins show they were in a state lacking understanding in The Word of God. Otherwise they would have not TRUSTED they could go BUY the Oil from those 'sellers' that represent Satan's host.
