Wrong, those who deny Jesus' gospel Mark 16:15-16, lack faith in Jesus.
The content of Jesus' gospel is
not "whoever is not baptized will not be saved." (Mark 16:16(b). That is your gospel. Jesus instructed us 9 different times on how to be saved and in each occurrence
baptism is omitted. (John 3:15,16,18; 5:24; 6:29,40,47; 11:25,26) We are saved through
believing in Him.
If you do not believe how God has instructed us to be saved, you lack faith in Him.
Then you obviously lack faith.
I put no trust or faith in water as I have already explained.
Yes you do -- "water baptized or condemned is your gospel."
I put faith in Jesus and His word.
No you don't. You put "mental assent" belief in Jesus and in His words "as interpreted by your church."
Jesus explains confession must be made in order to be saved.
Jesus is not talking about 'lip service' confession from a check list of steps that results in salvation by works.
I believe in Jesus because I believe what He tells us.
Matthew 10:32-33,
-Therefore whoever confesses Me before men, him will I confess before My Father in heaven.
-But whoever denies Me before men, him will I deny before My Father who is in heaven.
You believe what your church tells you. In context, this passage of scripture relates to the fact that the Pharisees had continuously denied Jesus while the disciples continued to speak about Him in every city they visited. We might paraphrase His teaching this way: "Whoever confesses me before men (such as you disciples), I will confess him before my Father in heaven. But whoever denies me before men (like the Pharisees), I will deny him before my Father in heaven.
Those who confess Jesus are those who recognize Him as being the true Messiah and trust in Him as the ALL-sufficient means of their salvation. Those who deny Jesus (and those who give mere lip service confession) but refuse to trust in Him alone for salvation place themselves beyond any possibility of salvation, since salvation is found only in Him (John 3:15,16,18; 10:9; 14:6).
The word for "deny" is an aorist tense. This points to the fact that Jesus is not talking about a single instance of denial (as was the case with Peter, who actually denied Jesus three times (Luke 22:56-62) but is referring to life in its entirety. Hence, the person who throughout his life denies Christ (as was typically the case with the Pharisess and includes unbelievers who may even give mere "lip service confession" - Matthew 7:21-23, but lack saving faith in Christ) will be denied by Christ before the Father.
Danthemailman, do you have faith to do what Jesus commands to be saved?
Yes. I believe in Jesus Christ as the ALL-SUFFICIENT means of my salvation. (John 3:15,16,18; 5:24; 6:29,40,47; 11:25,26; Acts 10:43; 13:39; 16:31; Romans 1:16; 3:24-28; 4:5; Ephesians 2:8 etc..).
Romans 10:9-10,
-that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.
-For with the heart one believes unto righteousness and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
I already thoroughly explained this passage of scripture to you. Confessing with our mouth that Jesus is Lord and believing in our heart that God raised Him from the dead are
not two separate steps to salvation, but are chronologically together. (Romans 10:8-10) *Don't forget to read verse 8 - But what does it say? "THE WORD IS NEAR YOU,
in your mouth and in your heart" (TOGETHER) that is, the word of faith which we are preaching,
(notice the reverse order from verse 9-10) - that if you
confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved; 10 for with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
Confess/believe; believe/confess.
Danthemailman, you lack faith in Jesus for you have already told me that you do not have to make this good confession to be saved!
It's not believe unto righteousness (still lost) then confess next week at Walmart to a large crowd and finally saved next week. The word of faith was in my mouth and in my heart upon my conversion several years ago. My confession was an expression of faith and not a work for salvation. How can confession be made unto salvation according to your 4 step plan of salvation when you still need to get water baptized afterwards in order to be saved? As I said multiple times before, your false gospel is the result of bad semantics and flawed hermeneutics.
You have taught this confession that is obviously with the mouth, and must be done publicly.
So everyone who is moot (unable to speak) will remain lost according to your erroneous interpretation of Romans 10:9,10. Got it.
Is not a confession of faith in Christ that is done with the mouth publicly.
What if you are alone when you made this confession? Did you round up a group of people at Walmart when you made your confession as a work for salvation? You are confused.
You have taught me this "confession" is "our daily walk in Christ".
Are you hearing things?
Danthemailman, no, Sir! IT IS A CONFESSION UNTO SALVATION!
Chronologically together with believing in our heart (and not just in our head -- understand the difference?) that God raised Him from the dead.
It is essential in oder to be saved.
1 Corinthians 12:3 - Therefore I make known to you that no one speaking by the Spirit of God calls Jesus accursed, and
no one can say that Jesus is Lord except BY the Holy Spirit. There is divine influence or direct operation of the Holy Spirit in the heart of a person when confessing Jesus as Lord. This confession is not just a simple acknowledgment that Jesus is the Lord (even the demons believe that), but is a deep personal conviction that Jesus is that person's Lord and Savior. So simply believing in our head (and not in our heart) that God raised Him from the dead does not result in righteousness and simply giving lip service to the words "Jesus is Lord" from a check list of steps not by the Holy Spirit is not unto salvation.
It is part of the gospel of Jesus Christ.
You turn confession into an additional work for salvation. Paul did not. (1 Corinthians 15:1-4) Paul said the
gospel of Christ is the
power of God unto salvation to everyone that
BELIEVES.. "apart from additions or modifications" (Romans 1:16)
You claim this confession of faith is not something that is proclaimed with the mouth.
You need to learn it is, and you cannot be saved without obeying this commandment.
Did you stand up in front of your church and give lip service to the words, "Jesus is Lord" from a check list of steps as an "additional requirement" for salvation? Was this confession unto salvation before or after water baptism? That is not what the apostle Paul had in mind in Romans 10:8-10.
John 12:42-43,
-Nevertheless even among the rulers many believed in Jesus, but because of the Pharisees they did not confess Jesus, lest they should be put out of the synagogue;
-for they loved the praise of men more than the praise of God.
The confession is not as you interpret as Dan. It is a literal public confession of faith in Christ.
In
John 12:42, do we know the real condition of these "believing" rulers' hearts? Was it (mere mental assent belief
James 2:19) or (trust and reliance saving belief
John 3:16)? We do know that they loved men's praises (v. 43) more than God's (Jn. 5:44). Some may argue that the unwillingness of the chief rulers to confess Christ in this isolated situation throws doubt on the complete genuineness of their faith and others may argue that they simply have a weak moment in this isolated situation in front of the Pharisees. Does this mean they never confessed Christ at all?
The Apostle Peter at one point failed to confess Jesus before men (
John 18:17-27), but after the Holy Spirit was given, he was a different man who boldly confessed Him. (Acts 4:8-13) We know that Peter was saved even though he had a weak moment and the same may be true for these chief rulers as well. Does the text specifically say that they were saved or not saved? If the chief rulers truly believed (trusted in Christ for salvation) even though they had a weak moment in this isolated situation, then they were saved (
John 3:16). If their lack of confession was the result of a lack of genuine belief, then they are not saved (
John 3:18). Regardless, this does not support your 4 step formula that culminates in water baptism salvation.
