So, God did not actually see Psalm 2 and Psalm 22 happen before the foundation of the world?

Was God "predicting" it instead?

Was God having to make something happen per these passages instead?

Was Jesus quoting Psalm 22 from the cross or was Psalm 22 quoting Jesus on the cross?

Jesus was quoting Psalm 22 and NOT Psalm 22 quoting Jesus

Psalm 22 emphasis is on the Pre-determined Will of God = "slain from the foundation of the world"

From Genesis onward Elohim is communicating to us the Pre-determined Will of Elohim(God).

Therefore He who supplies the Spirit to you and works miracles among you, does He do it by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?— just as Abraham “believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness.” Therefore know that only those who are of faith are sons of Abraham.
And the Scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, preached the gospel to Abraham beforehand, saying, “In you all the nations shall be blessed.” 9So then those who are of faith are blessed with believing Abraham.

YEs it does . And it keeps us safe from the lies of men gone wrong . yes indeed .
Let all get a noseful of that bible and learn Christ well . And let all that draws breath praise and thank the glorious Lord .

Are we calling the Holy Spirit an "it"?

Don't we mean "Yes He does!"???

"It" does not keep us safe from the lies of men gone wrong, but perhaps 'He' might keep you safe from the lies of men gone wrong!

The problem with a thread saying "The Bible Alone" is that the Bible, as the "Sacred Writings" could refererred to as an "it" That is say, 'The Biible; IT can be of great value to us.' For example, the Scriptures are good for teaching, for reproof, for correction - yet with that said we need to have someone - meaning a person like a "He" - to teach us, to reprove us, to correct us!!! That person is the Holy Spirit, which is the Spirit of Jesus Christ, who speaks to us personally!! HE does not speak on His own iniative but as He hears He speaks!! He (The Holy Spirit) brings us the words of our Lord Jesus Christ!! It does not bring us the words of our Lord, but He (the Holy Spirit does), and so He teaches us, reproves us, and corrects us!

So "II" does not teach us, but IT the Bible is good for the Holy Spirit to use to teach with. So has the person writing "Yes it does" or "it keeps us safe" think the Bible is the Holy Spirit, and then perhaps they think the Bible keeps us safe? Maybe it is just a grammatical error. I make those at times. But Jesus told the Jews:

Jn 5:39,40 “You search the Scriptures because you think that in them you have eternal life; it is these that testify about Me; and you are unwilling to come to Me so that you may have life.

Those people were obviously thinking the Bible alone was going to save them!! So, in the Bible we see that type of a mistake that people can and do make!! If a person does make that mistake, according to the Bible, they will not get life. Life comes from knowing the Lord Jesus Christ via the work of HIM (the Holy Spirit) and Him bringing us the words of our Lord. And those words are spirit, not ink on pages. Thus we find that He, Holy Spirit, speaks to our spirit, so that the Word of God we preach is not the Bible but those words from the Holy Spirit personally spoke to our spirit and which are found in our heart and sometime in our mouth.

The Word of God we preach is not found with our physical eyes!! The Bible alone is not enough! It is the Spirit which gives us life - not the Bible!! And HE - THE HOLY SPIRIT - IS SOMEONE (NOT AN IT) TO BE HEARD FROM!!

Jn 6:63 “It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing; the words that I have spoken to you are spirit and are life.

Frankly, I just don't understand how anyone can spend much time talking back and forth with the Lord via His Holy Spirit and not understand clearly that the Holy Spirit is a person, a "He"???

Could you call your friend an "it"?? Could you call your brother, your Father, your teacher an 'it'?

Would you write something like 'I went to my college class today and it was writing on the board and it was teaching us math?

Doing that is the type of mistake that can't really be done because we automatically just never refer to a person as "it". So do we personally know the Lord and His Holy Spirit if we make that mistake???

I have seen lots of Christians make that mistake, and I think that happens because they actually know the Lord and listen to Him via His HolySpirit like they should. Maybe I am wrong, but I don't think so. So, I took some time to write because I would not want anyone on that day to surprisingly hear the Lord tell them, "I never knew you"? I mean - if you really know Him then He is not an "it" is He?

Nice post - spot on.
Some people do not believe the Holy Spirit is a Person in the Godhead/Elohim.

Now a man named Ananias, together with his wife Sapphira, also sold a piece of property. With his wife’s full knowledge, he kept back some of the proceeds for himself, but brought a portion and laid it at the apostles’ feet.
Then Peter said, “Ananias, how is it that Satan has filled your heart to lie to the Holy Spirit and withhold some of the proceeds from the land?
Did it not belong to you before it was sold? And after it was sold, was it not at your disposal? How could you conceive such a deed in your heart?
You have not lied to men, but to God!”

The event(death of the Son) did not take place before the foundation of the world. But the Will of Elohim did.

ELOHIM determined what was the PLAN of Salvation BEFORE the foundation of the world and that PLAN is the SON/SALVATION who was slain (pre-determined) and is Before the foundation of the world and HE is the Foundation of ALL Things:

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
2He was in the beginning with God.
3All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made.
8 And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.

8 And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.

Predetermined Will of God- Sending the SON for the purpose of His Blood shed for us on the Cross.

But Jesus answered them, saying, “The hour has come that the Son of Man should be glorified.
Most assuredly, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the ground and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it produces much grain.
He who loves his life will lose it, and he who hates his life in this world will keep it for eternal life. If anyone serves Me, let him follow Me; and where I am, there My servant will be also. If anyone serves Me, him My Father will honor.

“Now My soul is troubled, and what shall I say? ‘Father, save Me from this hour’?
But for this purpose I came to this hour. (Future for actual Death on the Cross).
Father, glorify Your name.”

Then a voice came from heaven, saying, “I have both glorified it and will glorify it again.”

Therefore the people who stood by and heard it said that it had thundered. Others said, “An angel has spoken to Him.”

Jesus answered and said, “This voice did not come because of Me, but for your sake. Now is the judgment of this world; now the ruler of this world will be cast out. And I, if I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all peoples to Myself.”
This He said, signifying by what death He would die(Future - not past).

Pray for understanding = "from the foundation of the world" =
BEFORE the world existed ELOHIM determined the LAMB Slain from the Foundation............

“Men of Israel, hear these words: Jesus of Nazareth, a Man attested by God to you by miracles, wonders, and signs which God did through Him in your midst, as you yourselves also know—
Him, being delivered by the determined purpose and foreknowledge of God, you have taken by lawless hands, have crucified, and put to death; whom God raised up, having loosed the pains of death, because it was not possible that He should be held by it. For David says concerning Him: Acts 2:22-25

James was speaking of if we offend our brother to say we are sorry.

The RCC priest wants to know all our dirty little secrets.

please try to explain any of these objections to your “scripture alone baby”!

The doctrine of the “Bible alone” or the “Bible is the only source of authority”

Deny’s the divine tradition: Christ teaching the apostles in person.

Deny’s the power of the Holy Spirit: to guide the apostles into all truth, Jn 16:13 and to governing the church.

Deny’s the apostolic tradition:
Authority to define scripture:
Authority to interpret scripture:
Authority to teach the entire divine revelation.

Restricts the divine revelation and the word of God to scripture alone.

Provides no authority to know what is scripture.
Provides no authority to know what is not scripture.
Provides no authority to safeguard and protect scripture from errors.
Provides no authority to teach scripture without error.
Provides no authority to interpret scripture.

Reasons to oppose the doctrine of the “Bible alone”

Blind or illiterate and cannot read scripture. (Most people before the 20th century were illiterate)
Rare & Expensive (even after the printing press)
Faith comets by hearing not reading.

The Bible alone does not teach the doctrine of the “Bible alone”.

Biblical reference to authority other than the Bible alone.
Matt 16:18-19
Matt 18:18
Matt 28:18-20
Matt 18:17
Jn 20:21-23
Acts 2:42
Acts 8:31
1 Tim 3:15

When God called abram, Moses, the prophets, John the Baptist, and apostles it was not by the “Bible alone” Lk 3:2 the word of God came to John in the wilderness… a book did not fall out of the sky.

There is no list of scripture in scripture!

How does a person know what books, chapters, and verses are scripture and which ones are not?

The word of God is not limited to the “Bible alone”!

The word of God came to Abraham, to Moses, the prophets, and to John the Baptist in the wilderness (Lk3:2) but it did not come by the Bible, or the “Bible alone” not by any book, chapter, or verse!

Scripture all scripture is inspired, all the books and chapters of the canonical scripture authorized by Christ and His church!

The teaching authority of the apostles is the God breathed word of God!

Jn 20:23 He breathed on them (the apostles) and said receive the Holy Spirit…

Lk 10:16 he who hears you (the apostles) hears me. (Hears the word of God)

Jn 20:21 as the father sent me, I send you.

Acts 2:42 the doctrine of the apostles is the word of God!

Matt 28:18-20

18 And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.

19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:

20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

1 cor 11:23 For I have received of the Lord that which also I delivered unto you, that the Lord Jesus the same night in which he was betrayed took bread:

1 Jn 1:3 That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ

1 Jn 1:5 This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.

(The apostles received the word of God and handed it down to us, partly in the scripture)

2 Thessalonians 2:15
Therefore, brethren, stand fast, and hold the traditions which ye have been taught, whether by word, or our epistle.

All scripture is inspired! 2 Tim 3:16
(Not only 66 books with missing chapters)

2 John 1:12
Having many things to write unto you, I would not write with paper and ink: but I trust to come unto you, and speak face to face, that our joy may be full.

Did the apostle John possess the truth? Or only when He wrote it down did it become the truth?

Is what He taught only mere human tradition of men? But what He wrote was the inspired word?

Why is there joy complete in the person of the apostle?

The doctrine of the “Bible alone”
or that the church believes by the “Bible alone” is a heresy!

The truth is revealed by God thru Christ and taught by His church with the unity of the spirit and obedience of faith! Jude 1:3 Matt 28:19
One shepherd & on flock!
Jn 10:16

Scripture challenge!

Show me from or in “the Bible alone”?

1) a list (not contents) of the Ten Commandments.

2) what things is Lk 1:49 referring to.

3) what Christ commanded his apostles in Matt 28:20

Not in Bible not important
Acts 8 the eunuch had scripture, God sent an apostle to teach him!
Lk 3:2 the word of God came unto John in the wilderness, a book did not fall out of the sky!
Jn 21:25 many more things than those in scripture!
2 Jn 1:12 the apostle in person makes their joy complete not scripture!

Essential doctrine:
Some doctrines are necessary and some are not is error, it is unlawful and forbidden to reject a truth revealed by God, who can neither deceive or be deceived.

Examples of oral tradition! (Teaching)

Peter speaks at Pentecost acts 2
Paul speaks at Athens acts
Even Christ teaching the divine revelation to His apostles in person.

WHEN???

When did it become divine revelation?
When did it become the inspired word of God?

When it was Spoken by Christ to His apostles?

When it was taught by the apostles?

When it was Written down decades latter?

When it was canonized by the supreme Roman pontiff in 381?

When did it become the inspired word of God?

If only when written down (Bible alone) then when it was spoken it should have been rejected as mere human tradition or the tradition of men, and therefore they would not possess the truths revealed by God and could not write scripture!

If you believe the false doctrine of the “Bible alone is the only authority” then you must reject the authority of Christ and His apostles!

It is an error to believe that the office or authority of the apostles ended with the apostle John and public revelation, revelation was complete with the apostle John but the teaching authority or office of the apostles must continue till the return of Jesus Christ! Matt 28:19-20 I am with you (the apostles) unto the end of the world.

Tongues of fire at Pentecost represent the light of divine Truth and the fire of divine Love!

The apostles possessed the Authority of Jesus Christ and the power of the Holy Spirit in their persons!

Try to understand that God is not bound by time, but actually see's future events. He witnessed the crucifixion before He created the world too. He actually interacted with His human son before He made the world.

He also knew Jeremiah before his parents conceived him.

God transcends time.

Do you agree?

The original, early church was founded by Jesus and the Apostles in Acts 2.

The RCC was founded by Constantine 300 years later.

The RCC stomped out the Acts 2:38 church.

You have quite a heritage, Catholic.

how did Constantine found the Catholic Church?

Classic example of mass distortion of scripture by the RCC.

How do you know?
How can you know without the apostolic tradition or teaching authority of the apostles
I use the Bible only.

You can tinker with endless commentaries if you please.

People love writing their opinion pieces.

Try to understand that God is not bound by time, but actually see's future events. He witnessed the crucifixion before He created the world too. He actually interacted with His human son before He made the world.

He also knew Jeremiah before his parents conceived him.

God transcends time.

Do you agree?

False JW teaching = "Human son before He made the world."

I know nothing of their doctrines.

Do you think that God is bound by His creation of time, or that He already witnessed(saw) the end from the beginning?

JW and LDS believe in a human man son of God BEFORE HE came to earth = this is demonic error = doctrines of demons.

Follow the Straight Path = Deut 4:1-2 , proverbs 30:1-6 , Revelation 22:18-21

“Men of Israel, hear these words: Jesus of Nazareth, a Man attested by God to you by miracles, wonders, and signs which God did through Him in your midst, as you yourselves also know—
Him, being delivered by the determined purpose and foreknowledge of God, you have taken by lawless hands, have crucified, and put to death; whom God raised up, having loosed the pains of death, because it was not possible that He should be held by it. For David says concerning Him: Acts 2:22-25

No, they teach that Jesus was satan's brother.

Get it right, don't equate it with what I said.

KJV Mark 7:7-13
7 Howbeit in vain do they worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.
8 For laying aside the commandment of God, ye hold the tradition of men, as the washing of pots and cups: and many other such like things ye do.
9 And he said unto them, Full well ye reject the commandment of God, that ye may keep your own tradition.
10 For Moses said, Honour thy father and thy mother; and, Whoso curseth father or mother, let him die the death:
11 But ye say, If a man shall say to his father or mother, It is Corban, that is to say, a gift, by whatsoever thou mightest be profited by me; he shall be free.
12 And ye suffer him no more to do ought for his father or his mother;
13 Making the word of God of none effect through your tradition, which ye have delivered: and many such like things do ye.

The above is a direct result of not using scripture alone for faith and practise.

Apostolic tradition is not the tradition of men but of Christ with the assurance of the HS Matt 28:19 Jn 16:13

Questions about the doctrine of the “Bible alone” or the “Bible is our only authority”?

How can we know what is scripture?

How can we know what is not scripture?

How can we safeguard and protect scripture from errors?

Who has authority to teach scripture without error?

Who has authority to Authentically interpret scripture?

Next
