I can only say that the scholar is illiterate and he may never have read the book he loves.
Oh, I'm sure he's read the Quran. This is standard Islamic theology - they believe God spoke through a long line of prophets, starting with Moses, through Jesus, and with Mohammed as the final and greatest prophet. He was just explaining Islam to a Christian audience using our own theological terminology. (Though you will notice that they regard Christians as "polytheists", i.e. having multiple gods because of the Trinity doctrine and the Catholic honoring of Mary.)

This was only directed to Israel at that time and to think it was to us will lead only to disillusion and disappointment
More convoluted conclusions and doubts?
Jesus trained the disciples to go out and spread the Gospel WITH LOVE. His commandments all fall under two: Love God and love your neighbor. Keeping them in heart is more of a possession; since we are sinners and fail at times to obey them. The whole reason He came is to fulfill the commandments because no one else could. So keeping them is being possessed by HIS LOVE. And as we follow Him and love one another, we ask and we receive ( only what is good for us). While being one with the Spirit, we are guided towards needing spiritual things. But He is gracious also providing for our earthly needs as well.
Being baptized by the Holy Spirit ( being one with God), we become possessed with God's love and so willingly love Him and others; and in turn, He provides all our needs. This is applicable to ALL Christians.

But (to switch sides in the argument), God appears in the Biblical narrative to HAVE CHANGED His requirements for what He expects from His people. God told His people they were to circumcise their males, they were to eat kosher, and they were to keep Shabat. How can God change His mind like that? Those "certain men from James of the circumcision party" in Galatians 2:12 I'm sure were convinced they had God's Word on their side.

"Long ago I learned from your statutes that you established them to last forever." - Psalm 119:152

"I also gave them statutes that were not good, and ordinances by which they could not live." Ezekiel 20:25
I find that much of the covenant with Israel was punitive - God was punishing them for unbelief and that whole making-an-idol-right-at-the-base-of-Mt-Sinai incident. The verse you quoted from Ezekiel strongly hints at it, but Acts 7 states it outright.

Before that, God had rules for ALL nations, and a covenant with Abraham and Jacob. If we look at the state of things prior to Israel's little boo-boo, the rules for the church and the rules for the patriarchs and the Gentile nations are basically the same.

The variations that exist seem to be a direct result of people doing things to piss off God. Israel was chastised, Esau was hated, and God carried a VERY SERIOUS grudge against the descendants of Ham's son Canaan.

edit: The dietary restrictions and Sabbath don't appear to be part of God's punishment, though. Those are just things that are good for us.

I would like to see what verse or verses you base this on

I would like to see what verse or verses you base this on
Which part?
A. Being baptized by the Holy Spirit
B. Being one with God
C. God is Love, so being in a relationship with God ("in Christ"), we possess His Love. When God lives in you, you are possessed by Him. Not that He controls everything you do, just that He directs your path, has an influence, etc.
D. He provides all our needs.

These are fundamental truths ... do they seem foreign to you?

The problem Corinthians had was a failure to acknowledge that Paul was their apostle.........................[1Co 4:16 KJV] 16 Wherefore I beseech you, be ye followers of me.
But he wasn't, at least not for all of them. The immediately preceding verse indicates that the Corinthians were converted through multiple sources, not just Paul:

12 What I mean is this: One of you says, “I follow Paul”; another, “I follow Apollos”; another, “I follow Cephas”; still another, “I follow Christ.”

And Paul, to his credit and I love him for this, confesses that he is a proud (and perhaps a little insecure?) man who was envious of Apollos and Cephas and the other "eminent apostles":

For I consider myself not in the least inferior to the most eminent apostles. - 2 Corinthians 11:5

I have made a fool of myself (through boasting), but you drove me to it. I ought to have been commended by you, for I am not in the least inferior to the “super-apostles,” even though I am nothing. - 2 Corinthians 12:5

This is one of the things I love about the Bible. It shows us the truth about our heroes' flaws.

Jesus doing whatsoever was asked was conditional upon the disciples keeping his commandments.
Conditional upon the disciples keeping his commandments.

Is similar to
Receiving whatsoever was asked was conditional upon the disciples being fruitful.
Conditional upon the disciples being fruitful…conditional upon the disciples keeping His commandments…to me “conditional” makes it sound like we have to first earn, to receive. Performance conditional. Conditional on your performance.

In both (Imo) it’s God who gives the increase. it’s God who removes the heart of stone and gives a New Heart, and ‘I will put My Spirit in you’, and then you will keep my commandments and bring forth fruit unto God. Conditional? Or is Being fruitful and keeping His commandments the receiving of (Luke 11:13 If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will the heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!")
Being what is asked for in His Name?

[1Co 9:2 KJV] 2 If I be not an apostle unto others, yet doubtless I am to you: for the seal of mine apostleship are ye in the Lord.

Paul states he is their apostle

Paul didnt say they were all saved thru him
[1Co 15:11 KJV] 11 Therefore whether [it were] I or they, so we preach, and so ye believed.

Corinthian church was mixed believers

I John is written to Israel???
1 John was written to Israel and here are some reasons I say it

1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

This was directed to the nation of Israel, who had to confess their sins in accordance with the law and the prophets expressed in Leviticus 26:40-42, 1 Kings 8:47, 2 Chronicles 6:37-39 Nehemiah 1:6, Nehemiah 9:2, and Mark 1:5.

1 John 5:3 For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous.

In order to love God, Israel had to keep his commandments (Exodus 20:6 Deuteronomy 7:9 Deuteronomy 10:12-13 John 14:15).

1 John 3:23 And this is his commandment, That we should believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as he gave us commandment.

For eternal life, Israel had to believe on the name of Jesus Christ (John 3:16-18 John 6:29).

1 John 5:13 These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.

Jesus from the beginning said in John 8:24-25, that Israel had to believe on his name (John 1:12 Acts 4:12).

So you're saying the New Covenant isn't for Christians! Hmm, that sounds like something Satan would say.

Look at what Jeremiah says about the new covenant..........it is not for christians......its for Israel

[Jer 31:31 KJV] 31 Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah:

We should say we love him . but let us always examine ourselves to see if this be true .
meaning HAD we loved HIM we would have loved His words .
Many can and many do profess to love Christ
but sure seems to not take heed to Some of his words and rather twist them unto their own destruction .
but yes of course one would say WE love thee . LETS JUST ENSURE we really do LOVE HIM
and not some other version of another jesus.
Few on Earth know the real Jesus. 3 fake ones are being taught to mislead.
