Greeting Matthew and Happy New Years to you.
Hello
@Grailhunter, I have to make this reply in 2 posts, this is the first one.
A couple things I want to say to you. Looking at the scriptures as a whole there is really no such thing as a solitary Christian life.
I believe the life of a person who is a follower of Jesus is one of faith, in looking to the Father and worshipping him in Spirit and Truth just as Jesus stated in John 4:24 "For God/Yahavah is Spirit, so those who worship him must worship in spirit and in truth." And for Abraham, Paul wrote Romans 4:3 "What does Scripture say? “Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness.”
While you may suggest there is no such thing as a solitary faithfully lived life, I would disagree.
We are to assemble with Christians and worship the Trinity.
As a personal choice, I do not go into a church, nor to I worship the trinity. I reverse back to what Jesus stated in John 4:24 "For God/Yahavah is Spirit, so those who worship him must worship in spirit and in truth." This is exactly what the Father looks for people to do, just one verse back; John 4:23 Yet a time is coming and has now come when
the true worshipers will worship the Father in the Spirit and in truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks.
That being said, the term “church” in the scriptures means congregation or assembly. No Christian church buildings until after the edict of Milan in 313.
I do not see what relevance this has to anything. While people may go to a church, any church no matter what denomination, that is all fine and good with me for them to do so. My hope is that they see what I shared previously. That Yahavah seeks people for him to be worshiped in spirit and in truth.
The closest thing to church buildings were “house churches” in other words religious assembly in private residences which generally occurred at night as to make it less obvious.
That is cool, and historically accurate, but still the key to a life lived for a follower of Jesus, is to worship the Father in spirit and in truth. People meeting up and studying the bible is totally cool and fine with me.
These services were more or less a dinner and observance of the Bread and Wine Ritual and a dinner with food and wine and worship and study.
I've heard that was the case before, and thank you for restating the case, whether or not it is done today, has no effect on salvation which is done by the Lord Yeshua, it's simply the choice to seek out God throughout their life or not, and he rewards though who does so. The writer of Hebrews puts it as so Hebrews 11:6 "And it is impossible to please God without faith. Anyone who wants to come to him must believe that God exists and that he rewards those who sincerely seek him." It's impossible to please the Father without faith, and there are many people who do not even know Jesus, and choose to believe that Yahavah exist, and I believe even they are given the holy spirit by the Father, and in the afterlife they will find out and come to know the truth about the one whom had saved them in their life from their bondage of the flesh, living by the Spirit given to them. Also mentioned in Hebrews 10:16 a chapter before, "“This is the new covenant I will make with my people on that day, says the LORD: I will put my laws in their hearts, and I will write them on their minds.”" I believe these scriptures still have significant motivation to what I am saying to remain true.
So as Christians we should associate with and assemble for worshiping with other Christians, but that can be at a church or someone’s home.
Yes, I agree, but still even with being with other people, you have your own personally experienced and subjective lived life. While meeting up with other people is all fine and good, you are still left alone to ones own self at the end of the day, even if you have family. I am reminded of something Yeshua/Jesus had stated, Matthew 10:13 “If you love your father or mother more than you love me, you are not worthy of being mine; or if you love your son or daughter more than me, you are not worthy of being mine." These are things mentioned by Yeshua concerning, priority. The priority of a lived life is to follow Jesus, and listen to him above our own friends and family. We have to live work and make money, that is all fine and good as well to sustain ones family, and lived life. However, where is Yahavah/God in the matter on the heart of the individual? That is a personal observation people have to make themselves.
The key is to assemble and fellowship with other Christians. But again nothing in the scripture prescribes to solitary Christians.
While you may think I am at fault for being a believer, who doesn't go to church. If that is what you are assuming. I would say that you are wrong in that assessment. That is just the judgement that I have. I am a person who is to himself. Is that anyone business? No not really. Do they have to try to come in and correct me? Many people assume so, and try to do so. People can go to church and all that, that is all fine and good once again. I guess my mother is at fault for not going to church either, but as you stated you can read the bible with another person and even study with them in their home.
Next topic is a matter of terms…..As you probably know I do not believe in the one God formula for the Trinity.
That is a personal and subjective thing that pertains to you alone. Not anything anyone else has to subscribe to, just as they do not have to subscribe to showing up to a church building, or even at a home. Because in the end the worship of the Father, which he seeks for people to worship him in Spirit and truth, is a subjectively lived "alone" experience that no one can touch.
But I do use the terms Trinity, or Godhead, or even God or Lord for the Godhead.
Okay, that is all fine and cool. It's not like you have to explain these things to me, but I thank you for sharing them with me. I don't mind the term Godhead. They still aren't things that bring a person salvation. It's Yeshua, whom brings forth salvation, and deliverance from our bondage to the flesh, to living a new life in him, and his resurrection. Paul speaks about this in Romans 6: 4 "For we died and were buried with Christ by baptism. And just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glorious power of the Father, now we also may live new lives." Dying to our old ways of life, to new ways of life in and through Christ being raised, bringing us from our once previous spiritually dead state. Stated by Jesus, in Luke 9:59 He said to another person, “Come, follow me.” The man agreed, but he said, “Lord, first let me return home and bury my father.” 60 But Jesus told him, “Let the spiritually dead bury their own dead![
a] Your duty is to go and preach about the Kingdom of God.” Again a matter of priority. What you believe about these things are going to be subjective and between you and your own heart concerning them.
