Shall a man, that has not repented, not been baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of his sins, tell me to read the Epistles?Oh, the irony. You really need to meditate on 2 Corinthians 4:3,4.

Shall a man, that has not repented, not been baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of his sins, tell me to read the Epistles?Oh, the irony. You really need to meditate on 2 Corinthians 4:3,4.
Actually, I have repented, and I have placed my faith in Jesus Christ alone for salvation. (Acts 3:19; 11:17,18; 15:7-9; 20:21 etc..). I was also water baptized "afterwards." (Acts 10:43-48) What is signified in water baptism is not procured in water baptism. You have a misplaced faith.Shall a man, that has not repented, not been baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of his sins, tell me to read the Epistles?
False, it was because of remission of sins, sins were forgiven through Christ blood. Afterwards they as for an act of obedience they were water baptized, an answer of a good conscience 1 Pet 3:21No, back then, water baptism in the name of Jesus Christ was for the remission of sins.
Back then….. Then Peter said unto them, repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins…
, you know, read it.
Again, everyone Christ died for has had their sins purged away and they are forgiven before they are born Heb 1:3The book of Hebrews was not written to sinners. The book of Hebrews was written to those that have already been baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of their sins. Question, do you teach the book of Hebrews to sinners?
Sorry, Dan, but you have not repented. Because you have not been baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of your sins. You have what they call fake repentance. Just like Saul of the old Testament.Actually, I have repented, and I have placed my faith in Jesus Christ alone for salvation. (Acts 3:19; 11:17,18; 15:7-9; 20:21 etc..). I was also water baptized "afterwards." (Acts 10:43-48) What is signified in water baptism is not procured in water baptism. You have a misplaced faith.
I heard an excellent sermon at church last month which talked about false religion being a distortion of redemption. False religion always turns symbols and shadows of our salvation into the substance and the source. A woman who previously attended the church of Christ gave a testimony at our church on that same Sunday on how she finally overcame that fatal error and just recently has come to place her faith in Jesus Christ alone for salvation. Praise God!![]()
So that is the silliest thing I ever saw. You’re saying that Peter told them after they were saved to repent, and be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ because they have already received the remission of sins?False, it was because of remission of sins, sins were forgiven through Christ blood. Afterwards they as for an act of obedience they were water baptized, an answer of a good conscience 1 Pet 3:21
The like figure whereunto even baptism doth also now save us (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God,) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ:
Do you honestly teach the book of Hebrews to sinners?Again, everyone Christ died for has had their sins purged away and they are forgiven before they are born Heb 1:3
; 3 who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high;
Purge here means:
- a cleansing from the guilt of sins wrought by the expiatory sacrifice of Christ
Thats forgiveness, not guilty ! Do you deny this fact done by Christ Himself ? Friend you are promoting salvation by works, thats a dangerous false teaching.
That's false. Water baptism does not obtain remission of sins but repentance (implied in faith in Christ) brings remission of sins. (Luke 24:47; Acts 3:19; 11:17,18; 15:7-9; 20:21) If you have not placed your faith in Jesus Christ alone for salvation then you have not yet repented.Sorry, Dan, but you have not repented. Because you have not been baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of your sins. You have what they call fake repentance. Just like Saul of the old Testament.
If you repent in the New Testament, you have to be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ. Peter defined that clearly for us.
Peter said, repent and be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins…That's false. Water baptism does not obtain remission of sins but repentance (implied in faith in Christ) brings remission of sins. (Luke 24:47; Acts 3:19; 11:17,18; 15:7-9; 20:21) If you have not placed your faith in Jesus Christ alone for salvation then you have not yet repented.
See posts #174 and #178 and let it sink in. I'm really not interested in your eisegesis or your childish slander.Peter said, repent and be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins…
Dan says repent, and don’t worry about being baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins…
Dan has not repented because he cannot follow the second part of Peter‘s command.
I hate to be the bearer of bad news Dan, but you have failed.
Telling you the truth that you have fake repentance is not slander. It’s actually helpful.See posts #174 and #178 and let it sink in. I'm really not interested in your eisegesis or your childish slander.
It may be silly to you but its the truth. Water baptism was an act of obedience after one was converted to Faith in Christ. Thats why Philip required that the ethiopian guy professed faith in Christ Acts 8:37-39So that is the silliest thing I ever saw. You’re saying that Peter told them after they were saved to repent, and be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ because they have already received the remission of sins?
Repent to receive what they already had? Also, repent because they’re already saved, and they shall in the future receive the gift of the Holy Ghost? Am I in the twilight zone?
Again everyone Jesus died for, He purged their sins away. Also thats why Jesus told Peter that Cornelius was clean by God Acts 10:15Do you honestly teach the book of Hebrews to sinners?
Do you teach any of the other epistles to sinners?
Have you always taught sinners to skip the book of Acts and read the Epistles to the saved saints?
Do modern theologians teach people to do this to simple man on the street?
Was the book of Revelation also written to sinners or to the seven churches?
If water baptism in the name of Jesus Christ was not for the remission of sins, and it was only for obedience, was it just a test of obedience? It may be silly to you but its the truth. Water baptism was an act of obedience after one was converted to Faith in Christ. Thats why Philip required that the ethiopian guy professed faith in Christ Acts 8:37-39
37 And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.
38 And he commanded the chariot to stand still: and they went down both into the water, both Philip and the eunuch; and he baptized him.
39 And when they were come up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord caught away Philip, that the eunuch saw him no more: and he went on his way rejoicing.
When he said he believed that Jesus was the Son of God, he had been born of God 1 Jn 5:1
Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ is born of God: and every one that loveth him that begat loveth him also that is begotten of him.
if one believed with his heart in Jesus, he gave proof he was saved Rom 10:9-10
9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
Friend you have been deceived.
Cornelius was commanded to be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of his sins so that he could be clean. It was receiving the Holy Ghost prior to that that helped him to understand that this was an act of God leading him to water baptism.Again everyone Jesus died for, He purged their sins away. Also thats why Jesus told Peter that Cornelius was clean by God Acts 10:15
15 And the voice spake unto him again the second time, What God hath cleansed, that call not thou common.
That word cleansed is the same word purge in Heb 1:3, Cornelius was already saved, way before he was water baptized.
Baptism was a a act of obedience for the newly converted, in ight of the fact their sins were already forgiven for Christs sake Eph 4:32If water baptism in the name of Jesus Christ was not for the remission of sins, and it was only for obedience, was it just a test of obedience?
Kind of like an initiation test? It was irrelevant but needed to see if they would follow them further?
Was baptism an irrelevant obedience test or more important like this?...Baptism was a a act of obedience for the newly converted, in ight of the fact their sins were already forgiven for Christs sake Eph 4:32
And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you.
1 Jn 2:12
I write unto you, little children, because your sins are forgiven you for his name's sake.
You are preaching mercenary legalism

38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins,...
Right here implies justification from God that they are the children of God.
John 1:12. Those who received Christ had been born of God.
Mark 16:16 is talking about water baptism.
The same word Baptizo is used also of the baptism Jesus does, exact same word.
Nope as you have believed you must be water baptized to be born again and saved. Otherwise, your belief in Christ is worthless.
