What Does It Mean That No One Knows The Day Or The Hour (Mark 13:32)? Here Is One View

God Controls the WEATHER…
Men KNOW:
That Darkness exists, that the Sun Overcomes Darkness and intermittently the Clouds Block Direct Sun Light and the Wind is a Present Power Source We Can Not See.

On a regular basics men can chart, guess, predict (short term hour by hour, what the Weather MIGHT do and prepare accordingly…or Not prepare.)

I believe…the Point that no man KNOWS the Day or Hour …
* of Gods Tribulations to be Sent down from Heaven; (Matt 24:21 - Rom 1:18)
* of The Lambs Wrath; (Rev 6:16)
* of The Devils Wrath; (Rev. 12:13)
* of God Wrath; (Rev 16:1)

IS a parallel to Weather…
* Everyday Weather Will, Shall Occur;
* Every man Shall Experience, be affected by Weather;
* A small window of prediction, guesswork, hoping to have or get necessary goods, for coming weather;
* An invisible FORCE, can, has, at any moment, revealed unpredictable POWER effecting the weather and individuals personally.

Conclusion:
* Effects of Weather…darkness, sunny, cloudy, rain, sleet, snow, hot, cold, pleasant, turbulent…is All controlled by an Invisible FORCE…Invisible WIND…Controlled by Invisible God.

Warning:
* God has Offered…an Order and Way for ALL men to be “Goodly”, “Wholly”, “Prepar-ED” for Any predicted, assuredly expected, negatively affecting Occurrence /Event…To BE MADE ….An Everlasting Positive Result.

Glory to God,
Taken

Question

What does it mean that no one knows the day or the hour (Mark 13:32)?

Answer

In Mark 13:14–37, Jesus prepares His followers for intense persecution and tribulation in the days ahead and especially during the end times. He gives them hope to endure these trials by describing His glorious return as the conquering King of the universe (verses 24–27). To keep them from despairing in dark times, the Lord wants them to live in readiness for His second coming. “However,” Jesus states, “no one knows the day or hour when these things will happen, not even the angels in heaven or the Son himself. Only the Father knows. And since you don’t know when that time will come, be on guard! Stay alert!” (verses 32–33, NLT).

“Day” and “hour” are often used in Scripture as references to time in general (see Matthew 7:22; 10:19; 24:42, 44, 50; 25:13; 26:45). But in Mark 13, Jesus focuses on a specific event in the future. Because no one knows the day or the hour of His return, Jesus stresses the need to pay attention, stay awake, and be ready at a moment’s notice. Multiple times in Mark 13, Jesus calls for vigilant watchfulness: “Be on guard! Stay alert!” (verse 33, NLT), “Watch for his return” (verses 34, NLT), “You, too, must keep watch!” (verse 35, NLT), “Don’t let him find you sleeping when he arrives without warning” (verse 36, NLT), and “Watch for him!” (verse 37, NLT).

The disciples wanted to know when the end would come (see Mark 13:3–4). But Jesus told them that even He did not know (verse 33). In saying this, Jesus was actively humbling Himself and taking the form of a servant (see Philippians 2:7–8). Since no other mortal knows the time of Jesus’ return, Jesus voluntarily restricted His knowledge on that point. It was part of Jesus’ submission to the Father (see John 5:30; 6:38; 8:28–29) and His mission to live a human life. Jesus, in His humanity, didn’t know the day or hour of His return, nor did the angels in heaven, only God the Father. It is highly probable that Jesus, now in His glorified state, knows the day and hour of His return. But at that incarnate moment, speaking with His disciples, the information was not at Christ’s disposal. Later, just before His ascension, Jesus would remind them, “It is not for you to know the times or dates the Father has set by his own authority” (Acts 1:7). Jesus accepted His human limitations, and so must we. The thing that matters is being ready every day for His return.

Christians of every age have experienced persecution, natural disasters, and earthly trials. Genuine disciples must understand that these challenges are a daily reality of life in a fallen world. Yet, believers are not without hope because, in the end, our victorious King will return for us. In the meantime, since no one knows the day or the hour, we are to watch and be ready for Him no matter what we must endure as we continue His mission of spreading the good news of God’s kingdom.

Many have tried to predict the day of Christ’s return, but Scripture is straightforward—no one knows the day or the hour. Jesus said to stay awake because His coming will be a surprise: “Look, I will come as unexpectedly as a thief! Blessed are all who are watching for me, who keep their clothing ready so they will not have to walk around naked and ashamed” (Revelation 16:15, NLT; cf. 1 John 2:28).

The feast of Trumpets.

The feast of Trumpets was also called “the day or hour no one knows.”

It begins on the sighting of the new moon and announced by Trumpets.

It was either the 29th or 30th day.

For this we say to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord will by no means precede those who are asleep. For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first.
1 Thessalonians 4:15-16

Behold, I tell you a mystery: We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed— in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.
1 Corinthians 15:51-52

"But Jesus held his peace. Then the chief Priest answered, and said to him, I charge thee swear unto us by the living God, to tell us, If thou be that Christ the son of God, or no.

Jesus said to him, Thou hast said it: nevertheless I say unto you, Hereafter shall ye see the Son of man, sitting at the right hand of the power of God, and coming in the clouds of the heaven."

It seems a bit inconsistent, that those who try to spiritualize these words, or remove them from their context, are the same ones who will call you a heretic for reading those words in context, and interpreting them at face value.

And then, should someone suggests that various prophecies may have spiritual as well as literal interpretations, will turn around and accuse that person of not taking the text literally.

John Baptist denied that He was the prophet Elijah. Christ declared that if one could receive it, He was indeed that prophet. Clearly a spiritual interpretation of the prophecy.

I happen to think (not believe) that you are correct about the dating of Johns letters. I also am about 90% convinced that the scripture I quoted above was fulfilled in 70AD. However, I am in no way convinced that our current calendar or the dates we are given for historical events are in any way reliable, far from it.

I think the problem with eschatology is that everyone, no matter which side they come down on, is completely convinced in their own minds, that they and their ilk, are the only ones in possession of the correct interpretation of scripture. Worse, much worse, is they seem to have zero problem at all labeling anyone who disagrees with them a heretic.

I've met a lot of self professed prophecy experts. But not once in my 30 plus years as a born again believer, have I ever met a real one, at least not that I'm aware of. And if I had, what would it matter? The validity of his/her arguments will only be revealed on that day and in that hour, which no man knows.

I created a thread in the Unorthodox Doctrines section, its called Times and Seasons. Its drawn zero attention, much as I expected. I think that you might find it to be of some interest.

Thanks for being brave enough to state your point of view.

Simonides, with all the context, and content within the Bible itself, it's very hard to say that the last days are today. It started when Peter spoke "it was written about this time in Joel" and he stated that it was the last days so that prophecy had become true. Therefore the wrath of God was coming, within that "generation" Jesus had spoken to before his passing away, and rising again. Within 40 years, Jerusalem was obliterated, with fire raining down upon the earth from the Romans, whom "Jesus stated" concerning the armies surrounding it. The plagues laid upon them, "within Jerusalem" people started eating the people who were already dead cause they had no food. A lot happened within that context, content, and period of time. It's hard to say that we are waiting for all these things to come in the future. Why? Because "Jesus stated" There will never be such a great tribulation or something like this so great, and would never be again.

People want to point to Hitler and whatnot, but what about pointing to Jesus and what he was stating... He wasn't wrong... unless of course he was a liar... and the apostles were also liars.

I can take a look at that thread if you can link me and glance at it.
