The Original sin doctrine posits that humans inherit a predisposition to be sinners, essentially born with a sin gene, and some even say that it means people are born sinning straightaway from the womb; yet children are not born violating any commandments nor have the capacity to since they don't have evil desires. The need to be "born again" only applies to those who have died spiritually, like Adam, as a result of their choice to sin. With that being said, when does one die spiritually? It's when they sin. We don't inherit the sin or guilt of Adam or other peoples' actions. (Ezekiel 18:20)Well Adams fall is the original sin. All men after that as it says in SCripture are born in the image of Adam and not God.
Genesis 5
King James Version
5 This is the book of the generations of Adam. In the day that God created man, in the likeness of God made he him;
2 Male and female created he them; and blessed them, and called their name Adam, in the day when they were created.
3 And Adam lived an hundred and thirty years, and begat a son in his own likeness, and after his image; and called his name Seth:
This is important. Adam was made in teh image of God. but because of His fall He died spiritually and tghe very nature of man changed.
According to Psalm 139:14, God is not creating natural born sinners "I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well." and Ecc. 7:29 "Lo, this only have I found, that God hath made man upright; but they have sought out many inventions."
In addition to that, Jesus (also known as the Last Adam), including all people, trace their lineage back through Adam to God (Luke 3:38). Yet Jesus didn't sin, yet Immanuel had to learn to reject evil and choose good (Isaiah 7:15) and grow in favor and stature with God (Luke 2:52) like all people who need spiritual development must do.
So we have a good Biblical precedent here that God makes people wonderful and upright, but at some point they go astray, yet despite being descended from Adam it doesn't make someone a sinner or inherently corrupt with evil desires in the first place. Sin in the world leads people astray when they are tempted by it then after that they die spiritually upon being drawn away by their own evil desires (James 1:14,15.) People are not born with evil desires to be tempted with.
Why I began with Original sin instead of going directly into the labyrinth that is Calvin's TULIP is because this understanding that I have presented here is true, and Calvin's TULIP is built upon a false premise. Therefore, the elected are not totally depraved in the first place, but rather needing atonement after a deliberate sinning, and irresistible grace becomes pointless since God doesn't make people sin in the first place. The P is also pointless because people are born without sin therefore didn't require atonement in the first place (just like Jesus) and proves that OSAS can't be accurate.
