I believe Jesus is God and the Trinity.

oneness pentecostalism teaches that Jesus was only on God's mind and as such no pre-existence. Logically he is not God. However, they claim he is God the Father. They say, the fullness of the godhead being the Father is in him. When we are born again, we are indwelt with the Holy Spirit., but we are not God. Jesus having the Father in him does not make him the Father too. They are illogical.

What do you know about oneness pentecostalism ??? I want your input and corrections, please Daniel

I shun them.

Oneness Pentecostalism’s Beliefs on Jesus and Pre-Existence:
Oneness Pentecostal theology denies the traditional doctrine of the Trinity, which teaches one God in three distinct persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Instead, they emphasize the "oneness" of God, asserting that:

Jesus is the one God manifested in flesh.
The "Son" refers only to the human manifestation of God, not to an eternal pre-existent divine person.
Before the incarnation, Jesus existed only as an idea or a plan in God's mind (sometimes called the "logos" concept, referencing John 1:1).
This leads them to claim that Jesus is "God the Father" in the flesh, rejecting the notion that the Father and the Son are distinct persons within the Godhead.

2. Critique of the Claim That Jesus is the Father:
The Oneness position introduces significant logical and theological challenges:

Scriptural Evidence of Distinction: The Bible frequently depicts the Father and the Son as distinct from one another, especially in passages like John 1:1-14, where "the Word was with God, and the Word was God." The preposition "with" (Greek: pros) indicates distinction. Similarly, Jesus prays to the Father (e.g., John 17), speaks of the Father sending Him (e.g., John 5:37), and submits to the Father’s will (e.g., Luke 22:42). These interactions strongly imply relational distinction.

Logical Inconsistency: If Jesus is God the Father, then many of His actions (e.g., praying, being sent) become nonsensical. Oneness Pentecostal theology must either reinterpret these interactions as metaphorical (which lacks textual support) or accept that the Son and Father are distinct (contrary to their premise).

The Nature of Indwelling: Oneness adherents argue that Jesus had "the fullness of the Godhead bodily" (from Colossians 2:9) because the Father indwelt Him. However, this does not logically mean that Jesus is the Father. If believers, indwelt by the Holy Spirit, are not equated with being the Holy Spirit, then Jesus being indwelt by the Father does not equate to Him being the Father.

3. The Fullness of the Godhead in Jesus:
When Colossians 2:9 says, "For in Him dwelleth all the fullness of the Godhead bodily," the traditional Trinitarian understanding is that:

Jesus, as the incarnate Son, fully embodies the divine nature (the fullness of deity) while remaining distinct from the Father and the Spirit.
The fullness of the Godhead does not mean Jesus is the Father, but that the entirety of God's divine essence was present in the Son, consistent with the doctrine of the Trinity.
Oneness theology misinterprets this verse by conflating Jesus' divine nature with the Father's personhood.

4. Oneness Claims About the Holy Spirit and Believers:
Oneness Pentecostals teach that when believers are born again, they are indwelt by the Holy Spirit. This is consistent with broader Christian teaching. However, their reasoning about Jesus and the Father becomes problematic in comparison:

If having the Holy Spirit indwell believers does not make them the Holy Spirit, then having the Father indwell Jesus does not make Him the Father. By their own logic, Jesus having "the Father in Him" does not mean He is the Father.

5. Logical and Theological Issues:
Identity of the Son: If the Son is merely a human manifestation, then Jesus' role as mediator (1 Timothy 2:5), His prayers, and His distinct will become unnecessary or illogical.
Denial of the Trinity: Oneness theology rejects the historic, biblical doctrine of the Trinity, which resolves these tensions by affirming one divine essence in three distinct persons.
Diminished Christology: By reducing the Son to a mere human manifestation, Oneness theology risks undermining the biblical affirmation of Jesus' eternal divinity (e.g., John 8:58, Philippians 2:6-7).

Yeah, precisely. They demand logic before they are to believe, then discard logic in their counter arguments.

Not a lot, but the scripture proves Christ was with God in eternity past having the power of an endless life together with Him, without beginning, without ending.

I think some of this gets really, really, deep and goes well beyond our capacity to understand. I think we'll learn more once we graduate from here.

Do you shun them because their understanding of the "trinity" differs from yours? If they believe and profess that Jesus is Lord, are they not your brothers and sisters in Christ?
No they are not, they have a different Jesus. They teach Jesus was only a man. The Father indwells him and logically that does not make him God. They say Jesus is the Father. They also believe that the Son had a beginning, that he is not eternal, had no pre-existence.

1 John 2:22
So who is the liar? It is the one who says Jesus is not the Messiah. Whoever says that is the enemy of Christ—the one who does not believe in the Father or in his Son.

1 John 2:23
Whoever does not believe in the Son does not have the Father, but whoever accepts the Son has the Father too.

2 John 1:9
Everyone must continue to follow only the teaching about Christ. Whoever changes that teaching does not have God. But whoever continues to follow the teaching about Christ has both the Father and his Son.

Daniel,

I do not know about "oneness pentecostalism", but do know about God and Christ.

The pre-existence of Jesus, is founded (based) in God and Christ being "the same yesterday, today, and forever." Meaning Jesus was not just in the mind of God and not pre-existing, but was pre-existing as being "the same" as God. That's the short answer, and indeed there is more, but if one reconciles this one point, there is no need to elaborate further.

Is living by faith strictly logical as men define logic?

"For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith." Rom 1:17

And faith is what?

"Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen." Heb 11:1

As for "oneness pentecostalism", that is where I received the baptism of the Holy Ghost and began reading the Bible for myself. So, it is not all wrong as I see it.. even though it is perhaps not all right either. Which denomination is completely right? Let us simply follow as well as we are able the words of Jesus, asking for God's help along the way:

"But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you." Matt 6:33
"Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:" Matt 7:7

What do you know about oneness pentecostalism ???

I went to one of their churches for a while after I had first gotten born again and a young man.

They had women preaching to men in violation to scripture and they claimed anybody that does not agree with their UPC doctrine will go to hell... so I quit attending that house of false doctrine.

They also deny the Father and the Holy Ghost.... which is also false doctrine

Can’t say what is Pentecostalism Doctrine or meaning of “oneness” is according to their Doctrine.

I believe The Lord God Almighty IS ONE Holy, All Powerful,
All Knowing,
All Present,
Heavenly, Invisible, Creator and Maker of all things.

I believe, WHEN the Lord God Almighty…Sends Forth OUT From Him…
His Word, His Power, His Spirit….
the Same Word, the Same Power, the Same Spirit….REMAINS IN and WITH Him.

I believe…when the Lord God Almighty SENDS forth out from Him…ANY of:
His Word;
His Power;
His Knowledge;
His Wisdom;
His Understanding;
His Faith;
His Light;
His Grace;
His Forgiveness…
TO ANY of His Created and Made Humans…

IT IS ALWAYS “Conditional” and ALWAYS
“Portioned”…(Not the WHOLE of all those Things)…Since The Same ALWAYS “REMAINS”….IN and WITH God.

WHY?

Because…the “WHOLE” of those things…
IS the Holy Perfection of Gods GLORY

And…notice to all created and made humans

Isa. 42:
[8] I am the LORD: that is my name: and my glory will I not give to another, neither my praise to graven images.

Human men …are Offered an Opportunity For “portions” of Gods Glory:
To Dwell……..WITH Them
To Dwell……..IN Them
To Reflect…..UPON Them

And “EVERY” Human and Created man…
Freely, Willingly…

CAN…
Hear, Read, Learn, Investigate, Follow along, TRY (walking in that direction, walking on that Path, freely Believing…and freely CHOOSE IF they like it, doubt it, want to continue ….and…
EAT what they Have TASTED…or reject, deny, SPIT out what they have TASTED

Gods Word has “Promised”…any human man WHO…
“HAS TASTED…and “REJECTED” Gods Word…Shames God”…and loses their “Offering” of Salvation.

Gods Word has “Promised”…any willing and able human man
WHO…
“HAS EATEN”…Gods Word…SHALL once and FOREVER receive Gods “Offering” of Salvation.

How Forever?
By, Through, Of Gods Own Power “WITH” and “IN” such human man.

What is Gods Word called? Jesus
What is Gods Light called? Jesus
What is Gods Maker called? Jesus
What is Gods Power called? Christ
What is Gods Wisdom called? Christ
What is Gods Seed called? Christ

Who is Gods Light, Power, Wisdom, WORD, MAKER etc…. IF not God Himself?

John 1:
[1] In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
[2] The same was in the beginning with God.
[3] All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.

“iN” WHOM did God “purpose”. (Assign to make His own Good will Offering TO mankind)?

Do they profess that Jesus is Lord?
Philippians 2:10-11 KJV
10) That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;
11) And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

Isaiah 45:23-25 KJV
23) I have sworn by myself, the word is gone out of my mouth in righteousness, and shall not return, That unto me every knee shall bow, every tongue shall swear.
24) Surely, shall one say, in the LORD have I righteousness and strength: even to him shall men come; and all that are incensed against him shall be ashamed.
25) In the LORD shall all the seed of Israel be justified, and shall glory.

So here's the question.

Was Paul meaning that we will all confess that Jesus Christ is Lord in the sense of Him being our Master?

Or was Paul meaning that we will all confess that Jesus Christ is LORD, that is, YHWH?

Wouldn't applying the Isaiah passage to Jesus be blasphemous if Jesus were not YHWH?

Much love!

'Oneness Pentecostalism' is different from Pentecostalism.
I have known only a few 'oneness' ones.
