and build up bridges , focus on good works and what we have in common .

IF sola scriptura worked/functioned, we'd all believe the same teachings.
Most Christians believe in the word of God.
Maybe they bring baggage to it?
Maybe instead of reading it ourselves we go to a denominational church and allow
THAT CHURCH to indoctrinate us?

Also, it would be very easy to understand Christianity if we only read what Jesus taught.
But we have to read Paul, and Peter and James and so on and then try to put it all together.
Not an easy task.

There are some that believe Paul has different teachings than Jesus.

So, yes, I think it's a bit more complicated than you make it out to be.
Can you think of a solution?

Jesus did NOT establish the office of Pope.
Jesus DID pick Peter to be the head of the church that Jesus realized would have to be created
since the Jews did not accept His teachings.

Jesus came to set up the Kingdom of God on earth.
He didn't originally desire to start a different church.
This became necessary however, and so it was.

Peter was the Bishop of Rome.
There were 4 other Bishops at that time in the important cities of that region.
The cities were:
ROME
ANTIOCH
CONSTANTINOPLE
ANTIOCH
JERUSALEM

These 5 Bishops ran the new church in their respective regions from these important cities.

As it turned out, Peter was always looked up to when a problem arose. The others went to him
because he had the knowledge and the charisma and who knows for what other reasons.

These 5 Bishops were called Pope.
It was not until the 7th century (if I remember correctly) that it was decided that there should be
only one Pope who would be the supreme leader of the church.

This is history. Plain and simple.
Now if the CC wants to go back and call Peter the FIRST Pope...it wouldn't really be 100% correct...
but let them be happy.

I do believe that Christianity is being watered down and I've stated this.
I don't care for this Pope so you don't have to convince me.

God has always set apart a remnant of people for Himself, we see that throughout the ages.

Today we call the remnant, "The Church" or "The Body of Christ" or "Born Again Believers". They are all one and the same, none of them chose God but God chose them and called them out of the world to be His people. The rest are all people of the world or "Children of the Devil" and they are dead in their trespasses and sin, they will never repent.

Most professing Christians think they are saved, because they responded to an alter call and walked down the isle to receive Christ. Or they prayed the sinners prayer and accepted Jesus into their lives. These things are OK, if they are followed by a change of lifestyle which is evidenced by obedience to the gospel.

It's one thing to claim that one is a Born Again Christian, but if they don't live according to Gods ways then it shows their profession of faith was fake and their faith is dead. A person who has been truly converted is a completely new creature, they live to serve and please God and not to serve their old nature which cries out to have it's lust fulfilled.

Most Churches today don't preach about Gods wrath and hatred of sin, they only preach about a God who loves everyone unconditionally, regardless of how they live. They never talk about the coming judgement day, when Jesus will cast all sinners into hell to be tormented for all eternity. I was attending a Pentecostal Church for around six months, and I asked the Pastor why he only preaches about Gods love and never about Gods judgement.

The Pastor answered by saying that "I don't preach the fire and brimstone message, as it would shock the new comers". The area where the Church was located had a large LGBT community and also many Progressive New Age type of people. He said he needs to be sensitive towards them, and feed them milk until they are able to handle the deeper things.

I left that Church after that conversation, because I realized this Pastor was never going to preach the whole counsel of God, because the message would be too awful for the congregation to bare.

The Roman Catholic Pope is a champion of the "Interfaith Movement", where all of the worlds religions unite to celebrate unity. People like Oprah Winfrey is a strong proponent of the movement and many other prominent people are involved as well. Christians should never be involved with it, as it's tantamount spiritual fornication.
I would go so far as to say the "Ecumenical Movement" among denominations in Christian Churches, leads to spiritual fornication if it requires us to water down the gospel message.

I agree with you, there is only one true remnant of Gods people and they are the only true Church of God.

Romans 3:10-12 As it is written: “There is no one righteous, not even one; there is no one who understands; there is no one who seeks God. All have turned away, they have together become worthless; there is no one who does good, not even one.”
There you have it, you deny Gods Word at your own peril.

Jesus didn't lie according to me, you make Him a liar. He is building His Church, but it's not made up of people like the Apostles. They were given special gifts which nobody else was ever given after them. Nobody has ever performed miracles after them.

The Church of Jesus is made up of all kinds of sinners, murderers, adulterers and all kinds of other sinners. It's not made up of sinless people like you falsely claim. There is no such thing as sinless people, God said all have sinned but you make God a liar so you don't believe what He says anyway.
