The Kingdom of his God was at hand, and it is for today, not in some distant future!
It is for today!
Since the ascension of Christ into Heaven and indeed by the Day of Pentecost, we have Christ the King in the power of God, sharing his Father's throne, ruling his Kingdom, today!
(Col 1:13) Who delivered us out of the power of darkness and translated us into the kingdom of the Son of His love;
(Col 1:14) in whom we have our redemption, the forgiveness of our sins;
The Colossians and Paul thought the Kingdom had already come, and they were already in it, with Jesus at the helm, with power, as the right hand of his God.
There is no scripture saying the Kingdom of God is for the distant future. Those that believe this do not understand their own salvation, and what had miraculously occurred within them, and where they are now, in the Kingdom with their lord and savior.
Their salvation and the Kingdom are very much intertwined.
Even the witness on the Island of Patmos, John, realized he was also in the Kingdom where Jesus was ruling as King.
(Rev 1:9) I John, your brother and partaker with you in tribulation and the kingdom and patience of Jesus, was in the isle that is called Patmos, because of the word of God and the testimony of Jesus.
And in:
(Rev 1:5-6) And from Jesus Christ, the faithful witness, the firstborn from the dead and the ruler of the kings of the earth. To him that loves us and freed us from our sins by his blood, and who made us kings and priests to his God and Father; to him be the glory and the dominion for ever and ever. Amen.
Jesus is the ruler, the King of Kings of the earth, He is ruler of the Kingdom of God on earth, today, not in the distant future. And a genuine believer is today in the Kingdom of God as kings and priests to Jesus’ God and is Father.
During Christ’s life, how soon was it until the Kingdom of God was to be established? 3 years or 2003 years, or more?
(Mat 3:2) Repent! For the kingdom of heaven is at hand.
(Luk 4:43) But he said to them: I must preach the good tidings of the kingdom of God to the other cities also; for this is why I was sent.
(Luk 8:1)
And it came to pass soon afterwards, that he went about through cities and villages, preaching and bringing the good tidings of the kingdom of God; and companying with him were the twelve,
(Luk 9:11) But the crowds knew it, and they followed him; and he welcomed them, and spoke to them of the kingdom of God, and those that had need of healing he cured.
(Mar 1:14) Now after John was delivered up, Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the gospel of God,
And Jesus said:
(Mar 1:15) and saying: The time is fulfilled and the kingdom of God is at hand. Repent and believe in the gospel.
Truly repenting and believing the gospel leads one (slated) into the Kingdom of God!
And Jesus said:
(Mat 10:7) And as you go, preach, saying: The kingdom of heaven is at hand.
And Jesus said:
(Mat 6:10) Your kingdom come. Your will be done on earth, as it is in heaven.
And the Kingdom did arrive, on time around 33 AD, and then sealed by the destruction of Jerusalem in 70 AD.
And Jesus said:
(Mat 6:33) So seek first His kingdom, and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.
And again, the Kingdom that was always sought after before Christ, and arrived on time, by his actions.
And Jesus said:
(Luk 16:16) The law and the prophets were until John. From that time the gospel of the kingdom of God is preached, and every man enters violently into it.
That since the preaching of the gospel many are eagerly waiting and standing in the queue for its opening, that occurred within 3-4 years later.
And Jesus said:
(Joh 3:3) Jesus answered and said to him: Truly, truly, I say to you: Except one be born anew, he cannot see the kingdom of God.
(Joh 3:5) Jesus answered: Truly, truly, I say to you: Except one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God!
Jesus was speaking of being reborn first, to then immediately enter into the Kingdom of his Father and once Jesus opened it when he ascended into heaven.
The kingdom of Christ was prophesized to be set up during the Roman Empire per OT scripture….
What does one think Christ is doing in heaven today, besides his role as our high priest and as a type of advocate? Is he just twiddling his thumbs and waiting patiently for thousands of years for his rule to come, to open his Kingdom and only then to translate all reborn human spirits from all ages, into his Father’s Spirit, into his Kingdom?
I would reconsider ones eschatological view if one thinks, without referencing scripture, that the Kingdom has yet to be established, until in some distance future, like in a ‘Star Wars movie’ introduction.
I wonder with this fantastic view of a future Kingdom of God opening, what does one think of their salvation? What has happened after one was truly reborn, on probation for thousands of years, waiting thousands of years to experience and enter into the Kingdom of God? NOT!
How say yea?
Blessings to all....
