I would say what John said, the law was given by Moses, but Grace and Truth came by Jesus Christ.
Exodus? It is written eye for and eye. Jesus said disregard that law. I give a new Law.
John tells us that the light which I believe we can agree is truth was shown into darkness, but the darkness didn’t understand… for a man devoid the spirit of God the light would be incomprehensible?
This is why Jerusalem killed all the true prophets of God including Jesus. It was an attempt to reconcile God. Present the true God. Wasn’t understood till the gifting of the Spirit at Pentecost.

Does a loving God order genocide to capture lands to build stone temples on? I personally believe Jesus had a huge conflict and the prophets with this.

If Moses miscomprehended what God shows in visions then what does that say about the reliability of anything Moses said?
Who passed in front of Moses and made the statements about God’s character? Are you saying that the event described in the Exodus passage didn’t happen?

Not to divert our attention away from what occurred at Jericho, but take a look at what happened to the firstborn in Egypt. Look also at what took place during the flood in Noah’s day. More people were put to death in those events than were put to death at Jericho. What do you say about the involvement of God in those events?

God instructed Israel to kill their enemies on many occasions. On some occasions they were told to leave no survivors. On other occasions they were told to take captives. Why didn’t God command Israel never to leave any survivors? Why didn’t God command Israel to always take captives?
Was there something about the enemies whom God commanded Israel to kill that was unique in each instance? Was God right in his judgement to have Israel completely annihilate some of their enemies and to spare others of their enemies?

I would be a very wealthy man if I had a thousand dollars for every time I’ve heard it said that God died on the cross.
