Youre right. We have always had what we needed. And even now its best to not be stingy. Then relax and do not worry about it. Sure things might be lean at the moment but God's kids do not go running in the street begging for bread.
You just be you...doing what you can. Taking advantage of opportunities as they come along to earn what you can.
The whole world is suffering from economic hardships at the moment but we are getting by. The nice things are ok....and we are accustomed to having them but they aren't necessities.
And continue to be generous with what you do have. Set aside a portion before you make out the bills. (Firstfruits)
I worked in construction for years as an electrician...meaning I got fired a LOT because when projects get finished I would get fired afterwards. Then there would be times that there were periods of no work at all. And when I'd get another job finally I'd take that first check and give it straight to God. It was usually just a partial check and not a full one...and where things were getting really tight....I still knew more was coming so I gave it as a first fruits offering. Because I believed God would provide. Because God has always provided. I'm still alive...still kicking and causing trouble...
What I'm trying to say is that circumstances shouldn't change who we are. When we feel like being greedy or tight fisted do not forget who you are...we, our communities, and others need our beacon of LIGHT in this dark world...a shelter in the storm.
I'm not saying you should give everything away and live as a homeless person....far from it. Or cripple your household finances to a point of ruin by not working and hanging out at church or soup kitchens....because you need to be the missionary and not the mission field.
You need to work for God and not force God to provide freebies for you.
