When the Apostles and the inner circle gathered to choose a successor for Judas in Acts 1, this is what they said:
Acts 1:20
For it is written in the Book of Psalms: ‘Let his encampment become desolate, and may no one dwell in it.’ And: ‘May another take his OFFICE.’

The Greek word used here for "Office" is Eposkopay", which means "BISHOPRIC".
Judas's absence left a vacancy in his OFFICE - his Bishoipric - and the Apostles chose Matthias to replace him

The following is what Paul writes to further illustrate the clergy/laity distinction:
1 Cor. 12:28
Some people God has designated in the church to be, FIRST, apostles; SECOND, prophets; THIRD, teachers; then, mighty deeds; then, gifts of healing, assistance, administration, and varieties of tongues.

1 Thess. 5:12
We ask you, brothers, to respect those who are laboring among you and who are OVER YOU in the Lord and who admonish you,

1 Tim. 5:17
Let the elders that RULE WELL be counted worthy of DOUBLE HONOUR, especially they who labour in the word and doctrine.

Hopefully, truth will come out about the will of the Father for how He wants us to pray normally so we can give the Father thanks in Jesus's name for answers to prayers. By knowing Matthew 6:7-8 and trusting Jesus knowing our hearts in Hebrews 4:12-16 and the Spirit's silent intercessions for each and every believer, is how the Father knows everything before we ask in prayer, especially when we do not know what to pray for, we can trust Jesus to ask Him to intercede for us, and He will. Hebrews 7:25

So pray about this for confirmation from Him on how believers are to pray because tongues of just moanings and groanings and what not, cannot be a part of that at all.

Okay, but if any one thinks that groanings is a prayer, you may have to wonder about that. What happens to believers that are miserable and in pain that cannot groan? I believe Jesus that searches our hearts as the Spirit makes silent intercessions for us is why we do not have to worry because the Father already knows even when we cannot groan or moan, but we are certainly feeling the pain and misery at our wits ends.

But, yeah, I understand the groanings and moanings by the believer praying can be given with feelings while they pray and even when they do not know what to pray for, just as long they don't consider that as a "prayer tongue". That can lead to misrepresentation of what they are actually doing.

I believe that the Catholic tradition of line of succession would have been believable if Paul had referred to Peter as the Head of the church and that Peter chose his next successor. The fact that Peter nor Paul nor John did not show any necessity for a line of succession for the way Catholics are using it for as ruling over the whole church, you would think BOL would noticed that "hiccup".

Of course the various factions of Protestant denominations have committed theses sins that would deny them the inheritance of the kingdom of God. But what about the sin of fracturing the Church into tens of thousands of denominations. Who's work was that? Who would want that? How serious a sin is that? It is not like they found the truth, they have never been able to agree on it. 1500 years after Christ, they decide to redefine Christianity with disastrous results.

Standing before Christ on judgement day, the question put to you; Why did you fracture My Church?
Groundless factions...pointless factions and disputes, because the end result, with tens of thousands of opinions of what the scriptures and Christianity means, they formed endless denominations, it is a irrefutable fact and most evident that they can not agree or even understand. How many opinions can there be?

Bottom line, no matter what denomination we are discussing, there is the leaven of man in the mix. Skeletons in the closets. Blood under the bridge. Disputes, dissensions, and factions that have done great wrongs and weakened Christ Church on earth. Not to say that the Catholic Church is anything that resembles a saint, but more to say, were do we go from here? More wrong? Sinning justifies sinning? The war against the Spirit of Christ. What would He say? No one on this planet has the authority to ask if anyone is saved. As it stands, Christianity as a whole is like that giant ball of twine, a mesh of disagreeing beliefs that are incongruent, convoluted, and contradictory.

Much more right, much more helpful to look at others and ourselves as the body of Christ and work to agree and bless each other.

In Matt. 23:8-9, Jesus is using hyperbole (exaggeration) to make a point and does so many times in Scripture. In verse 8, Jesus tells us not to call people “Teachers”. Is Jesus telling us that we can’t call certain people "fathers" or “teachers” when they may actually be fathers or teachers? NO.

He is telling us that no man is to be considered father ABOVE our Father in heaven and no person is to be considered teacher ABOVE our Teacher in heaven.

Jesus was speaking about the Scribes and Pharisees who exalted themselves before all: “They love places of honor at banquets, seats of honor in synagogues, greetings in marketplaces, and the salutation 'Rabbi” (Matt 23:6-7).

Consider the following passages:

- Jesus said, “Your FATHER Abraham rejoiced at the thought of seeing my day; he saw it and was glad.” (John 8:56).
- St. Stephen refers to "our FATHER Abraham," (Acts 7:2).
- St. Paul speaks of "our FATHER Isaac” (Romans 9:10).

If Jesus forbade us to call anybody "Father" other than our Father in Heaven - ummmm, he BROKE His own rule in John 8:56 when he called Abraham "Father". So did Paul in Rom. 9:10 and Stephen in Acts 7:2.

YOUR problem, besides hypocrisy - is that you read Scripture in a wooden, literal sense instead of reading it in its proper CONTEXT.

Are Evangelicals Saved? They should remember the verses above.

Evangelicals believe in the Gospel (and hopefully preach the true Gospel). That's the meaning of *evangelical*. But salvation is not by denomination or church affiliation. Every saved person must experience the New Birth. Which means only God knows who is a child of God and who is not. At the same time, one can know others by their fruits (but not to determine their actual standing before God).

We need to keep in mind that evangelical and fundamental churches have undergone some serious changes over the last few decades. Many have departed from their original beliefs.
