The truth. (relative truth)
But do we know absolute truth?

[
We have been given an unprecedented window into the character of God. Jesus says, " I am the way, the truth and the life' That sounds about as succinct as one can get.
Is Jesus absolute truth? Hebrews 1:3 puts it like this 'The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word'

Do we know absolute truth? Well, this brown duck doesn't but he does know Jesus....so do I qualify?

I was at work yesterday and came out of the office onto the main floor and saw such a diversity of peoples.
I wondered what God saw when he looked at that.

Most (many?) Christians see a world full of lost people. The enemies of God.
Those who had chosen the broad way that leads to destruction.

What does God see? Absolute truth.

God is working tirelessly for people through people. What I'm aware of is that I'm so bleedin' dull. I have this treasure in my earthen vessel, I need to be shouting from the rooftops. God, give me the courage, the wisdom and the boldness to share the wonder of you with all I meet.

Here is something that baffles me. Muslim women are the happiest people I know. ???

You saved yourself then.
God's wisdom is justified by all her children,
If God had not granted you to come to Christ, you never would have.
You would be unwilling due to a spiritual enmity against Christ which exists in everyone who is not spiritually minded.
People may think God is good and creator, but Christ stirs them up, the entire idea of Christianity to the world is greatly antagonistic to the unbelieving.

John 5
39 You search the Scriptures, for in them you think you have eternal life; and these are they which testify of Me.
40 But you are not willing to come to Me that you may have life.

Hate Christ, mean they hate the Father, when someone does not know Christ, they do not know God either.

John 15:24
If I had not done among them the works which no one else did, they would have no sin; but now they have seen and also hated both Me and My Father.

John 15:19
If you were of the world, the world would love its own. Yet because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you.

1 John 3:13
Do not marvel, my brethren, if the world hates you.

John 17:14
I have given them Your word; and the world has hated them because they are not of the world, just as I am not of the world.

John 15:19
If you were of the world, the world would love its own. Yet because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you.
Yeah but what does it all mean to you? Who ever said "you must understand it in X way or you got it wrong." Unfortunately Christendom cannot agree with one another what the Bible means.

Yeah but what does it all mean to you? Who ever said "you must understand it in X way or you got it wrong." Unfortunately Christendom cannot agree with one another what the Bible means.
We have the scriptures as explanations from God about our reality is how I view that
God would not have had these things written down for meaningless reasons, He wants us to know what He is doing.

Christianity is composed of a lot of competing doctrines, not all are good doctrine, but the truth is found in all of the scriptures, not in doctrines of men about the scriptures.

For example several different versions of Romans 5:5-8

Those who are carnally minded are at enmity, hostile with the true God, they do not like Him one bit.
They are not subject to God and cannot ever be submitted to God as in follow and believe in Christ.
God must then grant to them repentance, to become spiritually minded and know the truth.
God has to open their heart to Him and His truth, otherwise their hostility against Hin remains.
IF your hostile to someone else, you wont want to listen or do the things they say.

I could ask you, why did you believe in Christ?

Like here is Romans 8 NKJV

There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who[a] do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit. 2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death. 3 For what the law could not do in that it was weak through the flesh, God did by sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, on account of sin: He condemned sin in the flesh, 4 that the righteous requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.

5 For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit.

6 For to be [b]carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.

7 Because the [c]carnal mind is enmity against God; for it is not subject to the law of God, nor indeed can be.

8 So then, those who are in the flesh cannot please God.

9 But you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. Now if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he is not His. 10 And if Christ is in you, the body is dead because of sin, but the Spirit is life because of righteousness. 11 But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies [d]through His Spirit who dwells in you.

Then here in NASB
5 For those who are in accord with the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who are in accord with the Spirit, the things of the Spirit.

6 For the mind [a]set on the flesh is death, but the mind [b]set on the Spirit is life and peace,

7 because the mind [c]set on the flesh is hostile toward God; for it does not subject itself to the law of God, for it is not even able to do so,

8 and those who are in the flesh cannot please God.

Then here in NIV
5 Those who live according to the flesh have their minds set on what the flesh desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires.

6 The mind governed by the flesh is death, but the mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace.

7 The mind governed by the flesh is hostile to God; it does not submit to God’s law, nor can it do so.

8 Those who are in the realm of the flesh cannot please God.

Right.
You would think that Muslim women would be the most oppressed people on the planet. ???

[
How many Muslim women do you know in Islamic countries?

What have Muslim women in the west have to be afraid of? What restrictions are imposed on them by governments in the west?

Latest fro Afganistan is that wo en apart from very limited education, cannot leave the house without a male relative, talk or sing in public, or work in public, now cannot train as nurses or midwives.

The talban is very extreme, but everything has its roots In the sharia.

Ever looked at what life is like for minorities in Islamic countries?

Agree.
I'm talking about American Muslim women.

Interesting that I would get beat up for suggesting such a thing. (horrors)
American Muslim women certainly have restrictions that they live with.

Muslim women in the west face restrictions from their community/family, not from the state or from Christianity.

If God had not granted you to come to Christ, you never would have.

So, in essence you are making the claim that all the folks that end up in hell... it was God's will for them to go there?

In other words, it's God's fault that they did not get saved? clueless-scratching.gif

Jesus said to Pilate, "... the reason I was born and came into the world is to testify to the truth.
Everyone on the side of truth listens to me.” Pilate asked Jesus, "What is truth?" - John 18:37-38 NIV

Still a good question.

About the grace of God that comes to God's elect, Peter writes here as an explanation of how God works

1 Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ,

1 To God’s elect, exiles scattered throughout the provinces of Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia and Bithynia,

2 who have been
chosen according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through the sanctifying work of the Spirit, to be obedient to Jesus Christ and sprinkled with his blood:

Grace and peace be yours in abundance.

Praise to God for a Living Hope

3 Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, 4 and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade. This inheritance is kept in heaven for you, 5 who through faith are shielded by God’s power until the coming of the salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time. 6 In all this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while you may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials. 7 These have come so that the proven genuineness of your faith—of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire—may result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed. 8 Though you have not seen him, you love him; and even though you do not see him now, you believe in him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy, 9 for you are receiving the end result of your faith, the salvation of your souls.

10 Concerning this salvation, the prophets, who spoke of the grace that was to come to you, searched intently and with the greatest care, 11 trying to find out the time and circumstances to which the Spirit of Christ in them was pointing when he predicted the sufferings of the Messiah and the glories that would follow. 12 It was revealed to them that they were not serving themselves but you, when they spoke of the things that have now been told you by those who have preached the gospel to you by the Holy Spirit sent from heaven. Even angels long to look into these things.

You are assuming that non Christians are innocent good people not deserving of he'll.

You are also assuming that God is not capable of being just or merciful.

Can you justify these assumptions from scripture?

I don't make things happen, God does. How else can you read scripture except as what it says?
We easily see illusions. There are any number of sites which post optical illusions .......which are interesting as illustrations.
The devil has so arranged our thinking it is easy to see something other in the scriptures than is intended to be seen.

The question is, what is it that is intended to be seen? I would say it is the character of God. It is by distorting this 'element' that the serpent won the first pair to his paradigm. WE have inherited a faulty paradigm. It is this very thing that Jesus came to undo. He came to reveal the character of God and we are to be careful how we hear (Luke 8:18)and what we see......because it is possible to hear/ see the very opposite (even in the scriptures) to what is intended.
Therefore there is MORE to reading / understanding the scriptures than is immediately apparent.
