If they were,Jerusalem would have killed them.Theres a reason Jerusalem does not kill these two prophets.Jerusalem likes these two prophets .

Mathew 23
34 Wherefore, behold, I send unto you prophets, and wise men, and scribes: and some of them ye shall kill and crucify; and some of them shall ye scourge in your synagogues, and persecute them from city to city:

35 That upon you may come all the righteous blood shed upon the earth
, from the blood of righteous Abel unto the blood of Zacharias son of Barachias, whom ye slew between the temple and the altar.

Revelation 18:24
And in her was found the blood of prophets, and of saints, and of all that were slain upon the earth.

It's not Babylon who kills these two witnesses. Its Babylons enemies that kill them. That speaks volumes.

The one verse in the above always reminded me of what Paul said concerning the thing he did

Matt 23:34 Wherefore, behold, I send unto you prophets, and wise men, and scribes: and some of them ye shall kill and crucify; and some of them shall ye scourge in your synagogues, and persecute them from city to city

Acts 26:10 Which thing I also did in Jerusalem: and many of the saints did I shut up in prison, having received authority from the chief priests; and when they were put to death, I gave my voice against them.

Acts 26:11 And I punished them oft in every synagogue, and compelled them to blaspheme; and being exceedingly mad against them, I persecuted them even unto strange cities.

Before he was converted

And here

1 Thes 2:14 For ye, brethren, became followers of the churches of God which in Judaea are in Christ Jesus: for ye also have suffered like things of your own countrymen, even as they have of the Jews:

1 Thes 2:15 Who both killed the Lord Jesus, and their own prophets, and have persecuted us; and they please not God, and are contrary to all men:

1 Thes 2:16 Forbidding us to speak to the Gentiles that they might be saved, to fill up their sins alway: for the wrath is come upon them to the uttermost.

God hath set forth us the apostles last, as it were appointed to death

1 Cr 4:9 For I think that God hath set forth us the apostles last, as it were appointed to death: for we are made a spectacle unto the world, and to angels, and to men.

God avenging his prophets and apostles on her

Rev 18:20 Rejoice over her, thou heaven, and ye holy apostles and prophets; for God hath avenged you on her.

In her was found the blood of the same

Rev 18:24 And in her was found the blood of prophets, and of saints, and of all that were slain upon the earth.

The two witnesses which were killed were killed where also the Lord was crucified

Rev 11:8 And their dead bodies shall lie in the street of the great city, which spiritually is called Sodom and Egypt, where also our Lord was crucified.

Who also said,

Luke 13:33 Nevertheless I must walk to day, and to morrow, and the day following: for it cannot be that a prophet perish out of Jerusalem.

Acts 13:27 For they that dwell at Jerusalem, and their rulers, because they knew him not, nor yet the voices of the prophets which are read every sabbath day, they have fulfilled them in condemning him.

And likewise

John 16:3 And these things will they do unto you, because they have not known the Father, nor me.

Dear tailgator,
The Two Witnesses' prophecy is a spiritual teaching on the pathway to salvation that the Elect will "keep" in order to reach their moment of conversion. It is not a teaching about a one-time future event as you are contending.

Rev 1:3 Blessed is he that readeth, and they that hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written therein: for THE TIME IS AT HAND.

Rev 22:7 Behold, I come quickly: blessed is he that keepeth the sayings of the prophecy of this book.

Rev 22:10 And he saith unto me, SEAL NOT the sayings of the prophecy of this book: for THE TIME IS AT HAND.

At the time John received the vision, all the prophecies were already being fulfilled in the lives of the Elect who were living at that time. And those same prophecies have continued to be fulfilled throughout this age in the lives of all the other Elect. John says the time for their fulfillment is at hand (presently happening) and that the prophecies are not sealed.

Concerning the Two Witnesses, they represent every Elect person since the time John received the vision. When the two witnesses are killed by Satan, it means that the Elect person has lost their salvation and has become apostate. When they rise to their feet, it represents them being restored and born again by receiving the Latter Rain of the Spirit. When they ascend up to heaven, it is the same event that Mat 24:29-31 describes.

Verses 15-19 describes the judgment that follows the Latter Rain of the Spirit. It is this judgment that removes and destroys the chaff (spirit of anti-Christ & Great Harlot) within the Elect person. It is the same judgment described in Mat 24:37-41 and the same one described in Rev 19:11-21.

Conversion requires an Elect person to receive both the Early and Latter Rains of the Spirit, followed by judgment (Day of the Lord/Thousand Year Reign). The time an Elect person spends in between receiving the Early and Latter Rains is Elijah's 3 1/2 years of drought and the last 3 1/2 years of Daniel's 70 weeks prophecy (time, times & a half, 1260 days and 42 months). It is during this time of drought (also called a time of great tribulation) that the Elect person will be killed (loss of salvation) by Satan and become apostate. They will remain in this apostate condition for "3 1/2 days" (represents their time as an apostate believer/man of sin).

All the Elect will keep the prophecy of the Two Witnesses. They cannot avoid it. For that reason, Christ says that during the Elect person's conversion process, they will "see" the Abomination of Desolation.

Mat 24:15 When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:)

This moment occurs just after Christ has given an Elect person the Latter Rain of the Spirit which has healed their spiritual blindness. It is at this time that the Elect believer will come out from Satan's deceptions, knowing that they had been deceived and following Satan instead of the true Christ. It is a very humbling experience.

Joe

A simpler way to say and understand the two witnesses prophecy, is that they are the flesh and the spirit, all as one man in Adam, and all as one man in Christ.

Cannot the "two witnesses" be two faithful OT Prophets from the past???

No, for the witness is much greater. The framework for understanding the greater scope, is:

And there are three that bear witness on earth: the Spirit, the water, and the blood; and these three agree as one.

By the Spirit who gives witness, the water below the firmament gives witness in all who are in Adam as one man, and also in spirit in all who are in Christ as one man...aka My two witnesses.

You are preaching a doctrine that was allowed for a time, until the times of the gentiles are fulfilled. But it is a false doctrine propagated by foretold false teachers entering into the church and spreading a "lie" causing strong delusion and great apostacy. Have you not read of it?
The apostasy takes place during the time of the gentiles. That is 42 months.1260 days.

Revelation 11
2 But the court which is without the temple leave out, and measure it not; for it is given unto the Gentiles: and the holy city shall they tread under foot forty and two months.

3 And I will give power unto my two witnesses, and they shall prophesy a thousand two hundred and threescore days, clothed in sackcloth.

The times of the gentiles is fulfilled after the two witnesses are killed.

A simpler way to say and understand the two witnesses prophecy, is that they are the flesh and the spirit, all as one man in Adam, and all as one man in Christ.
Dear ScottA,
The number "two" in the spiritual language of Christ means the witness of God. It does not mean a literal number. In this age, the Elect are Christ's witnesses. So in this sense, the two witnesses represent one Elect person.

In the prophecy, the Elect person will begin the pathway to salvation by receiving the Early Rain. This small measure of the Spirit will give them "faith" and certain spiritual gifts - but it will not convert them. It will leave them carnally minded and spiritually blind. This is why the two witnesses (as spiritual gentiles) will trample under foot the outer court of the temple for 42 months (time in between them receiving the Early and Latter Rains). Only after an Elect person is converted will they become spiritual Jews who can enter the inner court.

After a person receives the Early Rain of the Spirit, the Spirit within them will engage in a spiritual war with their flesh (carnal spirit). The war is being fought for which one will govern the person (their mind). During this war, Satan will come to the aid of the flesh and strengthen it by indwelling the person with the spirit of anti-Christ. This makes the person's carnal spirit "worse than the first" (Mat 12:43-45). The worsen carnality of the person is what the number forty two represents. It is understood as 6 x 7. The number six represents carnal mankind and the number 7 represents perfection. This worsened person is called a "man of sin". In this condition, the person is now ready for the end to come (if they are one of the Elect). This is what Christ is teaching in the verse below:

Mat 24:14 And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.

The phrase "this gospel of the kingdom" is not referring to Christ's true gospel. It is referring to Satan's "another gospel" which has witnessed to all the beliefs (nations) of the apostate believer. After the believer has been fully made into this "worse than the first" spiritual condition (a man of sin), they are now ready for the end to come (conversion). The "end" occurs when Christ comes to the person a second time and pours out the Latter Rain of the Spirit. After the apostate Elect believer receives the Latter Rain of the Spirit, their spiritual blindness will be healed. That is when they will "see" the Abomination of Desolation" and realize that they had been following Satan all along instead of following the true Christ.

Mat 24:15 When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:)

After they have received this truth, Christ will spiritually appear and commence His judgment within the believer. This judgment was "typed" by Lot and the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah. Lot fleeing into the mountains represents the newly born child of God being gathered up to heaven (Mat 24:29-3). That is why Christ mentions the story of Lot in the next verse of Matthew and in Luke 17:28-30 which is teaching the same thing.

Mat 24:16 Then let them which be in Judaea flee into the mountains:

Luke 17:28 Likewise also as it was in the days of Lot; they did eat, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they builded; 29 But the same day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and destroyed them all. 30 Even thus shall it be in the day when the Son of man is revealed.

Sodom represents the worsened carnal spirit of the person (same as the terms earthly Jerusalem/natural earth/Great Harlot do). Gomorrah represents the spirit of anti-Christ.

Later in Matthew 24, Christ gives a more detailed account of His judgment, but this time He switches over to the story of Noah and the ark. Noah and His family (8 in all) are a "type" for one Elect person. When they were commissioned to build the ark, it represented an Elect person receiving the Early Rain. When they entered the ark, it represented an Elect person receiving the Latter Rain. After they are in the ark (Christ), judgment falls (the flood/time of great tribulation) destroying all the things that has made the person carnally minded (represented by the destruction of the world).

Mat 24:37 But as the days of Noe were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. 38 For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, 39 And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. 40 Then shall two be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left. 41 Two women shall be grinding at the mill; the one shall be taken, and the other left.

The "two" who are in the field represent one Elect believer who has the Holy Spirit and the spirit of anti-Christ indwelling them. The spirit of anti-Christ is "taken" and destroyed. Likewise, the "two" women who are at the mill represent one Elect believer who has the Holy Spirit and their own carnal spirit. The carnal spirit is called the Great Harlot and is the one who is "taken" and destroyed. After this judgment is complete, the believer will be converted and at peace (no more spiritual war within them). This is when a believer enters into the rest of Christ.

Paul refers to this time of judgment in the scripture below:

1Thes 5:2 For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night. 3 For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child (birth of the new child of God); and they shall not escape.

When the verse says "peace and safety", it means the same thing as what Christ said in Matthew 24:38: "they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage". And likewise in Luke 17:28 when Christ said: "they did eat, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they builded".

Peter also refers to this time of judgment here:

2Pet 3:10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.

The heavens which pass away represents the carnal mind. The earth that is destroyed represents the carnal spirit. They are both replaced with a New Heaven (mind of Christ) and a New Earth (the Holy Spirit).

Judgment is what completes a person's conversion from being a child of the Devil into being a child of God. This is salvation and is what it means to be "born again".

The two witnesses rule over many till the king of the south attacks and kills them at the time of the end.
Revelation is not the only book about the beast, the false prophet and the time of the end.

Daniel 11
39 He will attack the mightiest fortresses with the help of a foreign god and will greatly honor those who acknowledge him. He will make them rulers over many people and will distribute the land at a price.[d]

40 “At the time of the end the king of the South will engage him in battle, and the king of the North will storm out against him with chariots and cavalry and a great fleet of ships. He will invade many countries and sweep through them like a flood.
In each case the King of the South or King of the North was always a Gentile King in one of the four Generals kingdoms, in all 6 Syrian Wars. The number 7 = Divine Completion. Thus the King of the North is the Anti-Christ/Little Horn/Beast, he conquers Israel and THE MANY (every nation on the Mediterranean Sea Coast not already in the E.U.) that is why he conquers towards the East (Turkey & Seleucus) and towards the South (Egypt/Ptolemy) and towards Israel. This he must conquer from the Northwest Corridor or Greece and Greece is in the E.U. so that fulfills both Dan. 8:9 and Dan. 7:7-8 AND he has to have Assyrian Blood (Isaiah 10 amongst others).

So, his family migrated from old Assyria (Southern Turkey and Northern Iraq) crosses the Turkish/Greek border sometime in the last 2500 year. Then he i born in Greece AFTER the E.U. is formed, thus he COMES UP (is born) Amidst the 10 (10 = the Complete E.U. reunited because 10 means Completion).

This has nothing to do with the Two-witnesses. They have power to BRING PLAGUES. Trumps 1-7 is ALL the Judgments, the Seals are not Judgments, they just Seal up the Judgments. The 7 Vials emit from the 7th Trump, they are the 3rd Woe.

No, for the witness is much greater. The framework for understanding the greater scope, is:

1 John 5:8And there are three that bear witness on earth: the Spirit, the water, and the blood; and these three agree as one.
By the Spirit who gives witness, the water below the firmament gives witness in all who are in Adam as one man, and also in spirit in all who are in Christ as one man...aka My two witnesses.
No, the two witnesses are two individual humans, who will prophesy and testify for 1260 days. Then be killed and their bodies lay dead in the streets of Jerusalem for 3 1/2 days. Then will be brought back to life and ascend up to heaven in a cloud, while their enemies look on.

Stick with what is written the text.

I am not seeing how the five virgins which took oil in their vessel equates to the two witnesses that get killed in Rev. I do compare things a little differently than you concerning them.
Unfortunately, due to church-ianity, you are locked up by their persuasion to only see the TWs as being in the future.

In post 16, clue #1, The Five wise virgins is just an example of how the five wise had possession of the OIL, aka the Holy Spirit.
They took Oil IN their vessels (their bodies- 2 Cor. 4:7), along with their lamps, aka the words of God.
In other words, the parable about the five wise virgins, is showing that the 5 wise exemplify "born again" Saints, and not just people who have only a religious show of faith.

In clue #2, please take notice that in all the world, and in all time, there were ONLY two people that ever had the Holy Spirit upon birth.

Joe

Well, since you are clouded about with that which church-ianity pounds out day and night of who the two witnesses might be,
take a long hard look at John the baptist and Jesus.
Please see clue #2 in my post #16, in comparison to Zech. 4:11-14

Unfortunately you know very little about my influences in so called church-ianity.

Prophets have the Holy Spirit, and the saints are mentions here

Rev 13:17 And it was given unto him to make war with the saints, and to overcome them: and power was given him over all kindreds, and tongues, and nations.

Cant see anything of any relevance above the obvious
The saints do not have the Holy Spirit???

No, the two witnesses are two individual humans, who will prophesy and testify for 1260 days. Then be killed and their bodies lay dead in the streets of Jerusalem for 3 1/2 days. Then will be brought back to life and ascend up to heaven in a cloud, while their enemies look on.

Stick with what is written the text.

That is all part and parcel of the foretold "lie" propagated by false teachers entering into the church causing strong delusion and great apostacy for a time. That time has passed, although many still believe the "lie."

But I wasn't asking.

Well, since you are clouded about with that which church-ianity pounds out day and night of who the two witnesses might be,
take a long hard look at John the baptist and Jesus.
Please see clue #2 in my post #16, in comparison to Zech. 4:11-14

I'm guessing you think I have missed this for some strange reason.

I wouldnt look to you for clues

You have made it less than simple again.
Dear ScottA,

Why do you believe that the truth of Christ is "simple"? It is not.

Christ's New Covenant teachings are meant to be understood ONLY by the converted Elect who have had their spiritual blindness healed and have been given a love for the truth. For everyone else (the children of the Devil), Christ's teachings are meant to be impossible to understand.

Prov 2:1 My son (converted believers), if you receive my words and treasure up my commandments with you, 2 making your ear attentive to wisdom and inclining your heart to understanding; 3 yes, if you call out for insight and raise your voice for understanding, 4 if you seek it like silver and search for it as for hidden treasures, 5 then you will understand the fear of the Lord and find the knowledge of God.

Isa 28:9 Whom shall he teach knowledge? and whom shall he make to understand doctrine? them that are weaned from the milk, and drawn from the breasts
(a converted believer). 10 For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little: 11 For with stammering lips and another language (spiritual language) will he speak to this people. 12 But the word of the LORD was unto them (babes who can only draw milk) precept upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little; that they might go, and fall backward, and be broken, and snared, and taken (by Satan).

Because babes who draw milk cannot understand the truth of Christ's New Covenant teachings, they will fall for Satan's deceptions and become "worse than the first":

Mat 12:43 When the unclean spirit is gone out of a man, he walketh through dry places, seeking rest, and findeth none. 44 Then he saith, I will return into my house from whence I came out; and when he is come, he findeth it empty, swept, and garnished. 45 Then goeth he, and taketh with himself SEVEN other spirits more wicked than himself, and they enter in and dwell there: and the last state of that man is worse than the first. Even so shall it be also unto this wicked generation.

The spiritual symbol of an unclean spirit represents a spirit which teaches Satan's false truth through lies and deceptions.

Since a new believer remains spiritually blind (Mark 8:21-25) after receiving the Early Rain of the Spirit, they cannot replace their worldly false beliefs with the truth of Christ. ONE unclean spirit leaves but comes back with SEVEN more. The number "seven" represents perfection. In this case, the number seven represents the perfection of Satan's lies/deceptions which come to a believer by the indwelling of the spirit of anti-Christ. Now, instead of ONE unclean spirit within the believer, they now have EIGHT. The number eight is a spiritual symbol which represents a new spiritual condition. In this case, the new spiritual condition is worse than the first.

This "worse than the first" spiritual condition causes the believer to become a False Prophet, a Man of Sin, a Minister of Satan and a Seven Headed Beast with Ten Horns & Crowns.

Paul confirmed the hidden nature of the gospel below:

2Cor 4:3 But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost: 4 In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.

Only believers who are converted/saved can understand the Gospel. For the rest of mankind (which includes "babes"), the Gospel is hidden from them.

Does this sound like the king of the north is conquering Israel to you?

Daniel 11:32
With flattery he will corrupt those who have violated the covenant, but the people who know their God will firmly resist him.

2 percent of Israel's population claims to be Christian. At the most,2 percent of the people in Israel know their God and most of them are arabs.

He flatters them who violate the covenant which would be all of Israel's government. Now explain to me how he conquers all of Israel with flattery?

He is not conquering Israel,he is an ally of the Israeli government. He flatters them.

Just one more stupid question and you go on ignore.
@Verily said: Prophets have the Holy Spirit, and the saints are mentions here

Your sentence implies that only the Prophets have the Holy Spirit

mention /mĕn′shən/

transitive verb

  1. To speak or write about, especially briefly or incidentally.
"I mentioned your idea during the conversation. She mentioned that she was going to be five minutes late."
  2. To make mention of; to speak briefly of; to name

No question is stupid unless it is motivated by malice and/or evil intent and yet even then the question(s) may not be 'stupid'
