Many brethren on this forum have come out and declared that the Gog invasion of Ezekiel and Revelation are one and the same. Let us look at Scripture and see that they are completely different and the only similarity is the name' s Gog and Magog.

Let us first look at Rev. 20,

7 And when the thousand years are expired, Satan shall be loosed out of his prison,

8 And shall go out to deceive the nations which are in the four quarters of the earth, Gog, and Magog, to gather them together to battle: the number of whom is as the sand of the sea.

9 And they went up on the breadth of the earth, and compassed the camp of the saints about, and the beloved city: and fire came down from God out of heaven, and devoured them.

10 And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.

11 And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them.

12 And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.

13 And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works.

14 And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.

15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.

We can see the following of this batttle.

1. It is after the thousand years and the first resurrection when those who refused the mark and/or were beheaded live and reign with Jesus for 1000 years.
2. Satan gathers his forces from across the entire globe.
3. God the Father destroys the invaders with fire from heaven.
4. Satan is cast into the lake of fire
5. The Great White Throne Judgment happens and then the eternal order commences.

Now the Gog/ Magog invasion of Ezekiel 38-39

38 And the word of the Lord came unto me, saying,

2 Son of man, set thy face against Gog, the land of Magog, the chief prince of Meshech and Tubal, and prophesy against him,

3 And say, Thus saith the Lord God; Behold, I am against thee, O Gog, the chief prince of Meshech and Tubal:

4 And I will turn thee back, and put hooks into thy jaws, and I will bring thee forth, and all thine army, horses and horsemen, all of them clothed with all sorts of armour, even a great company with bucklers and shields, all of them handling swords:

5 Persia, Ethiopia, and Libya with them; all of them with shield and helmet:

6 Gomer, and all his bands; the house of Togarmah of the north quarters, and all his bands: and many people with thee.

1. This invasion has a limited army. Gog is a title of the ruler of Magog- which is modern Russia.
2. Chief is Rosh which means Russia and Tubal and Meshech became the cities of Moscow and Tobolsk.
3. While in Rev. Satan gathers the army, here God puts a hook in the jaw of Russia and leads them to battle Israel.
4. In. Rev. the armies are global, in Ez, they are limited to Russia (Magog) Iran (Persia) Ethiopia(Ethiopia/Cush), Somalia (Put), Germany (Gomer), Armenia and possible surroundings (Togarmah).

8 After many days thou shalt be visited: in the latter years thou shalt come into the land that is brought back from the sword, and is gathered out of many people, against the mountains of Israel, which have been always waste: but it is brought forth out of the nations, and they shall dwell safely all of them.

9 Thou shalt ascend and come like a storm, thou shalt be like a cloud to cover the land, thou, and all thy bands, and many people with thee.

10 Thus saith the Lord God; It shall also come to pass, that at the same time shall things come into thy mind, and thou shalt think an evil thought:

11 And thou shalt say, I will go up to the land of unwalled villages; I will go to them that are at rest, that dwell safely, all of them dwelling without walls, and having neither bars nor gates,

God visits this alliance in the later days (this is a distinct difference than the last days. *-11 perfectly describes Israel even today. It is a land of unwalled villages (even the remote kibbutzim are unwalled) and though there is fighting on three sides, people do dwell safely.

12 To take a spoil, and to take a prey; to turn thine hand upon the desolate places that are now inhabited, and upon the people that are gathered out of the nations, which have gotten cattle and goods, that dwell in the midst of the land.

Th epurpose of this invasion is to plunder and capture. Israel is very rich in mineral and now oil and gas wealth.

13 Sheba, and Dedan, and the merchants of Tarshish, with all the young lions thereof, shall say unto thee, Art thou come to take a spoil? hast thou gathered thy company to take a prey? to carry away silver and gold, to take away cattle and goods, to take a great spoil?

Sheba and Dedan are modern Arabia. Tarshish and her young lions is either Spain and her western explorations (Mexico, S. America et al) or England and Her offspring (canada Australia the US) time will tell for sure.

18 And it shall come to pass at the same time when Gog shall come against the land of Israel, saith the Lord God, that my fury shall come up in my face.

19 For in my jealousy and in the fire of my wrath have I spoken, Surely in that day there shall be a great shaking in the land of Israel;

20 So that the fishes of the sea, and the fowls of the heaven, and the beasts of the field, and all creeping things that creep upon the earth, and all the men that are upon the face of the earth, shall shake at my presence, and the mountains shall be thrown down, and the steep places shall fall, and every wall shall fall to the ground.

God will move against the Armies of Gog and will cause great natural events in the land of Israel.

21 And I will call for a sword against him throughout all my mountains, saith the Lord God: every man's sword shall be against his brother.

22 And I will plead against him with pestilence and with blood; and I will rain upon him, and upon his bands, and upon the many people that are with him, an overflowing rain, and great hailstones, fire, and brimstone.

23 Thus will I magnify myself, and sanctify myself; and I will be known in the eyes of many nations, and they shall know that I am the Lord.

this possibly describes either a supernatural event like Sodom or a possible nuclear exchange. but the result is that god will be magnified.

Revelation 8:7 KJV
The first angel sounded, and there followed hail and fire mingled with blood, and they were cast upon the earth: and the third part of trees was burnt up, and all green grass was burnt up.

Much love!

Part 2: Chapter 39.

It is in this chapter that further describes the results of the Gog Invasion that we know this is a different invasion than the REv. 20 Gog invasion.

39 Therefore, thou son of man, prophesy against Gog, and say, Thus saith the Lord God; Behold, I am against thee, O Gog, the chief prince of Meshech and Tubal:

2 And I will turn thee back, and leave but the sixth part of thee, and will cause thee to come up from the north parts, and will bring thee upon the mountains of Israel:

3 And I will smite thy bow out of thy left hand, and will cause thine arrows to fall out of thy right hand.

4 Thou shalt fall upon the mountains of Israel, thou, and all thy bands, and the people that is with thee: I will give thee unto the ravenous birds of every sort, and to the beasts of the field to be devoured.

God destroy the invaders and has the birds feast. IN Rev. 20, immediateloy after God destroys the invasion, the great white throne is established.

6 And I will send a fire on Magog, and among them that dwell carelessly in the isles: and they shall know that I am the Lord.

7 So will I make my holy name known in the midst of my people Israel; and I will not let them pollute my holy name any more: and the heathen shall know that I am the Lord, the Holy One in Israel.

8 Behold, it is come, and it is done, saith the Lord God; this is the day whereof I have spoken.

1. Once again, a possible nuclear exchange between Russia and possibly England or the US
2. Revival takes place in Israel. In Rev. 20 the Great White Throne is established- no time for revival.
3. God declares it will happen.

9 And they that dwell in the cities of Israel shall go forth, and shall set on fire and burn the weapons, both the shields and the bucklers, the bows and the arrows, and the handstaves, and the spears, and they shall burn them with fire seven years:

10 So that they shall take no wood out of the field, neither cut down any out of the forests; for they shall burn the weapons with fire: and they shall spoil those that spoiled them, and rob those that robbed them, saith the Lord God.

Here is another strong proof the two Gogs are different.
1. After the Ez. invasion, Israel gathers the weapons of war for fuel for seven years! that would mean in Revelation they are burning weapons in eternity!

12 And seven months shall the house of Israel be burying of them, that they may cleanse the land.

13 Yea, all the people of the land shall bury them; and it shall be to them a renown the day that I shall be glorified, saith the Lord God.

14 And they shall sever out men of continual employment, passing through the land to bury with the passengers those that remain upon the face of the earth, to cleanse it: after the end of seven months shall they search.

15 And the passengers that pass through the land, when any seeth a man's bone, then shall he set up a sign by it, till the buriers have buried it in the valley of Hamongog.

16 And also the name of the city shall be Hamonah. Thus shall they cleanse the land.

Another reason these are different. IN Rev. People are resurrected, here Israel is burying the invaders for seven months and even hire people to look for the dead. No need for that in eternity.

21 And I will set my glory among the heathen, and all the heathen shall see my judgment that I have executed, and my hand that I have laid upon them.

22 So the house of Israel shall know that I am the Lord their God from that day and forward.

23 And the heathen shall know that the house of Israel went into captivity for their iniquity: because they trespassed against me, therefore hid I my face from them, and gave them into the hand of their enemies: so fell they all by the sword.

Israel experiences a great revival! Gentiles will then get rid of their replacement theology and realize Israel had been scattered for their one single iniquity of rejecting Jesus as Messiah.

24 According to their uncleanness and according to their transgressions have I done unto them, and hid my face from them.

25 Therefore thus saith the Lord God; Now will I bring again the captivity of Jacob, and have mercy upon the whole house of Israel, and will be jealous for my holy name;

26 After that they have borne their shame, and all their trespasses whereby they have trespassed against me, when they dwelt safely in their land, and none made them afraid.

27 When I have brought them again from the people, and gathered them out of their enemies' lands, and am sanctified in them in the sight of many nations;

28 Then shall they know that I am the Lord their God, which caused them to be led into captivity among the heathen: but I have gathered them unto their own land, and have left none of them any more there.

29 Neither will I hide my face any more from them: for I have poured out my spirit upon the house of Israel, saith the Lord God.

God now shows the fulfillment of His promise, He has punished Israel, purged and cleansed them, and has finished bringing them back into the ltheir land of promise.

In Rev. 20 the end of the invasion brings about eternity, here it brings about the beginning of the full restoration of the people of Israel to live in their land and prosper as God promised.

The war of Gog from Magog:
Ezekiel 38 & 39 refers to an alliance of Northern peoples, formed to invade the holy Land, sometime during these latter days. Scholars differ as to who these peoples/nations are, but no reference is made to Israel’s present immediate neighbours – the Arab Islamic nations and entities, such as Hamas. The reason why they are not included in this alliance, is the fact that they will have already suffered an earlier massive defeat, the Psalms 83 fire from the Lord; His Day of wrath. Revelation 6:12-17

The passage in Ezekiel 38:11-13 describes the people living in the holy Land as:
1/ A people dwelling securely – not the case at present.
2/ A nation at peace – all of the nations surrounding are outright or potential enemies.
3/ Dwelling without walls – in modern terms: undefended borders.
4/ An extremely wealthy and prosperous nation, blessed by the Lord – not true of the Jewish State of Israel.
This shows that His people, the faithful Christian Israelite peoples, will be in the Land after this clearance.

Ezekiel 38 & 39 are both describing the same event, an attack upon the Lord’s people, by a leader known as Gog, from the ‘far reaches of the North’. He is mentioned again in Revelation 20:8-9 which uses Ezekiel’s prophecy to portray another, final attack against Israel. The result of this battle is that all are destroyed by fire and Satan is finally judged. Some differences are:

1/ The first battle involves only a few nations, the last will be every nation.

2/ There is no mention of Satan in Ezekiel 38-39, but in Revelation 20, he is the primary character.

3/ The Ezekiel battle says the dead will be gathered and buried for 7 months. The armies at the end of the Millennium are cremated instantly, by fire from heaven.

4/ The battle in Ezekiel is used by God to display His power. In Revelation, people have been faithful to God for 1000 years. Those in Rev 20:7-10 who are rebellious are killed without any more opportunity for repentance.

5. The attack described in Revelation 20:7-10, will happen 1000+ years later and the attack described in Ezekiel 38/39, is referred to there; only as an example of a huge concourse of armed peoples.

The second chapter of Joel up to verse 28, is a sequence of events:
Verse 1- 11 is the Day of the Lord’s vengeance/ Middle East devastation/ Sixth Seal.
V 12-17 A call for the repentance of His people. V 18-19 They gather into the Land.
V 20 The Gog and Magog war. V 21-26 People of Zion, rejoice, I shall recompense you.
V 27 You will know that I am present in Israel and I am your God. This verse parallels Ezekiel 39:28 It is by His deeds that He is known, not by His presence, until His Return, after the Tribulation, therefore, all the above happens before Jesus Returns.

Joel 2:18-20 Then, the Lord showed His ardent love for His Land and was moved with compassion for His people. He answered their appeal and gave them food in plenty. I shall expose you to the danger of attack no longer. I shall remove the Northern peril [Gog and Magog] far from you, into the desert areas. The leading troops will be near the Dead Sea and the rearguard by the Mediterranean. Their rotting stench will rise up! The Lord has done great things!

Well having been to Isreael and knowing people living there I can testify they are living in peace and safety. Yes there is rockets and attacks but life for over 95% of Israel is normal and secure. They trust their armed forces.

Israel has no walls. the kibbutzim are all unwalled even in the border regions. th eonly wall built was at Gaza and that was not to protect the people but to keep Palestinians out.

The Jewish state of Israel is extraordinarily prosperous. They have made the desert bloom like a rose and have massive exports of produce and technology. With the finds of oil and gas, Israel is prosperous.

Yes,it is the same Gog/Magog

Fire comes down from heaven in Ezekiel and destroys Gog.

Unless your trying to say God has already opened the graves of dead Israelis and have brought them up out of their graves, then you must concede the people in Israel today are not the same people in Ezekiel 38.

PS
Today marks one year since Israel was invaded by Hamas killing many Israelis and taking many hostage .

I can't see how you can claim everyone of those people who died that day were safe .
If every one of them were safe, then why are they now dead?

Ezekiel 38:8
After many days you will be called to arms. In future years you will invade a land that has recovered from war, whose people were gathered from many nations to the mountains of Israel, which had long been desolate. They had been brought out from the nations, and now all of them live in safety.

Fact is ,no one in Israel lives in safety.
They can all be killed by a rocket or missile or an invasion at anytime. There will be no peace and safety in israel.till after Christ has come.

Ezekiel 38-39, Revelation 20:8 - the same nations involved. But two separate events. Separated by 1007 years.

Ezekiel 39:17-20, seven years after the Gog/Magog event... Armageddon

17 And, thou son of man, thus saith the Lord GOD; Speak unto every feathered fowl, and to every beast of the field, Assemble yourselves, and come; gather yourselves on every side to my sacrifice that I do sacrifice for you, even a great sacrifice upon the mountains of Israel, that ye may eat flesh, and drink blood.

18 Ye shall eat the flesh of the mighty, and drink the blood of the princes of the earth, of rams, of lambs, and of goats, of bullocks, all of them fatlings of Bashan.

19 And ye shall eat fat till ye be full, and drink blood till ye be drunken, of my sacrifice which I have sacrificed for you.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Is the same as in Revelation 19:17-18 at Jesus's Second Coming...

17 And I saw an angel standing in the sun; and he cried with a loud voice, saying to all the fowls that fly in the midst of heaven, Come and gather yourselves together unto the supper of the great God;

18 That ye may eat the flesh of kings, and the flesh of captains, and the flesh of mighty men, and the flesh of horses, and of them that sit on them, and the flesh of all men, both free and bond, both small and great.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Gog/Magog of Ezekiel 38-39 is thus over a thousand years before the Revelation 20:8 involvement of the same Gog-Magog nations.

I lived in Israel, actually in Bethlehem, for 4 months in 2010. I found the Israelis to be arrogant and disdainful of Christians.
The Arab people were much nicer.

You cannot say they feel 'peace and safety; Especially just now, with missiles raining down on them. They do rely on their military and the Samson Option. God does not get any credit for their victories and He will punish them for their apostasy and only a remnant will survive.
The Jewish state of Israel is extraordinarily prosperous. They have made the desert bloom like a rose
I disagree. You have rose tinted glasses!
Having wars on all fronts, is killing their economy. Politically they are in a mess.
Netanyahu is their mainstay, but Micah 5:1 tells us he will be incapacitated, then worthless leaders take over. Isaiah 3:1-7.

You are telling lies to support your error. They are not in peace and safety. It is the opposite. They are constantly in fear and on edge. Why can Pretribbers online not tell the truth?

By the way, I have been there 3 times.

The Arab people were much nicer.
And yet within Israel there are thousands of Christian congregations of Messianic Jews (some as small as three gathered believers). and it matters not how they feel about believers, what matters is what the Word says.
You cannot say they feel 'peace and safety; Especially just now, with missiles raining down on them. They do rely on their military and the Samson Option. God does not get any credit for their victories and He will punish them for their apostasy and only a remnant will survive.
That is because you are only seeing with carnal eyes. They live in peace and safety because they trust in their military and iron dome and Davids sling and teh patriot batteries and their nuclear weapons etc.etc.etc. Peace and safety is a state of being and not a physical surrounding.

Yes 2/3 of Israel will be destroyed during the tribulation and the remaining 1/3 will be saved. They will give God the credit when russia and her allies attack and are wiped out by God.
I disagree. You have rose tinted glasses!

Netanyahu is their mainstay, but Micah 5:1 tells us he will be incapacitated, then worthless leaders take over. Isaiah 3:1-7.
Israel is prospering. They live in near parity with our middle class. Outside of the kibbutzim nearly all Israelis have cars and all the modern stuff Americans do.

They have a massive export economy and the oil and gas is causing massive wealth to roll intro Israel.

As for your opinion of Netanyahu? You are doing newspaper exegesis and allegoizing the Isaiah passage to force it to fit him.

God has defended Israel, will defend Israel and in the end save the enitre nation that is left. That is the promise of the New covenant in Jer. 31 and Zech 13.

33 But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the Lord, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people.

34 And they shall teach no more every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the Lord: for they shall all know me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them, saith the Lord: for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more.

35 Thus saith the Lord, which giveth the sun for a light by day, and the ordinances of the moon and of the stars for a light by night, which divideth the sea when the waves thereof roar; The Lord of hosts is his name:

36 If those ordinances depart from before me, saith the Lord, then the seed of Israel also shall cease from being a nation before me for ever.

37 Thus saith the Lord; If heaven above can be measured, and the foundations of the earth searched out beneath, I will also cast off all the seed of Israel for all that they have done, saith the Lord.

8 And it shall come to pass, that in all the land, saith the Lord, two parts therein shall be cut off and die; but the third shall be left therein.

9 And I will bring the third part through the fire, and will refine them as silver is refined, and will try them as gold is tried: they shall call on my name, and I will hear them: I will say, It is my people: and they shall say, The Lord is my God.

that is of course you accept God sWord as He inspired it and do not feel the need to reinterpret it. In which case there are hundreds of reinterpretations and then they all compete to be right as opposed to what God said!

There is no difference.
The end result is God rains fire down from heaven on Gog.

Ezekiel 38
22 And I will plead against him with pestilence and with blood; and I will rain upon him, and upon his bands, and upon the many people that are with him, an overflowing rain, and great hailstones, fire, and brimstone.

Revelation 20
8 And shall go out to deceive the nations which are in the four quarters of the earth, Gog, and Magog, to gather them together to battle: the number of whom is as the sand of the sea.

9 And they went up on the breadth of the earth, and compassed the camp of the saints about, and the beloved city: and fire came down from God out of heaven, and devoured them.

Fact is ,this is what God said he would do if the children of Israel kept his commandments in Deuteronomy. In both revelation 20 and Ezekiel 38 Gog comes against the resurected saints of Israel who are living peacefully in the land of Israel and God destroys Gog and those nations.

How many times you believe God's chosen people Israel will be resurected?

One similarity. NOw go read the rest of what happens in the Ezekiel invasion and see if they are things that will happen in the eternal state!

Ezekiel 38:18-23

King James Version

18 And it shall come to pass at the same time when Gog shall come against the land of Israel, saith the Lord God, that my fury shall come up in my face.
19 For in my jealousy and in the fire of my wrath have I spoken, Surely in that day there shall be a great shaking in the land of Israel;

Ezekiel 39

King James Version

5 Thou shalt fall upon the open field: for I have spoken it, saith the Lord God.
11 And it shall come to pass in that day, that I will give unto Gog a place there of graves in Israel, the valley of the passengers on the east of the sea: and it shall stop the noses of the passengers: and there shall they bury Gog and all his multitude: and they shall call it The valley of Hamongog.

I previously posted these things and showed why they are different on trhis thread. Go look at them.

Ezekiel 37-39 agrees with revelation 20
Revelation 20 is simply a shorter version of the same events in Ezekiel 37-39.

Do you agree the resurected saints in Israel at the time of Gog's invasion are a peaceful people living without walls or do you deny they are brought up out of their graves?

Ezekiel 37

12 Therefore prophesy and say unto them, Thus saith the Lord God; Behold, O my people, I will open your graves, and cause you to come up out of your graves, and bring you into the land of Israel.

13 And ye shall know that I am the Lord, when I have opened your graves, O my people, and brought you up out of your graves,

Are you one of those people who deny there is a resurection and deny these holy saints of God are brought up out of their graves?

The Prophecy about the dry bones, is how the House of Israel, the Western peoples receive the Gospel and become Spiritually alive,
All of the Lords faithful Christian peoples, will be gathered into all of the holy Land, soon after the Middle East is cleared and cleansed. Deuteronomy 32:34-43, Isaiah 66:15-21, Ezekiel 34:11-16, Romans 9:24-26

Ezekiel 38:8 and 12b, show that the people in the Land are not the present population of mostly ungodly, mixed race peoples.
Gog is drawn to attack them, in order for God to display His power.

The prophecy in Ezekiel 37 is about God litterally raising the dead out of their graves.

Jesus also confirmed the dead will come out of their graves at his second advent.

John 5:28
28 Marvel not at this: for the hour is coming, in the which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice,

29 And shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation.

The people living in the land of Israel when Gog invades have litterally come out of their graves and have inherited the land of Israel for an everlasting possession as God has promised the seed of Abraham.

When Ezekiel 37:11-13 is read without preconceived notions, then it can be understood correctly, as a Spiritual restoration.
Proved by how the House of Israel, [as a separate people group from the House of Judah; the Jewish people] are now the Christian people from every tribe race, nation and language.

Jesus came to save us and not the Jews, as He plainly stated. Matthew 15:25 His Mission was successful and you and I are the result.
WE Christians have been rescued from the lost by our faith in Jesus. WE have been saved out of the grave of sin and depravity.

Then you deny the resurection and the word of God.
You must be a Sadducee .You deny the resurection. You say no one will come out of their graves.

Do you also deny Messiah will reign as king of Israel as well? That too is in Ezekiel 37.

You know it's getting deep when people say the resurrection is not physical.
They don't believe God can actually raise the dead and bring them up out of their graves
