accompanied by tape recordings of romantic trysts—an effort designed to drive King from the civil-rights movement or induce him to commit suicide.

In this regard he was much like Trump . . . providing his enemies with lots of ammo to use against him.

Yeah, MLK's own wife verified that he was a womanizer, and adulterer... a "preacher" that lived in sin!

A false teacher too as he taught once saved always saved as all good baptists reach!

Trump and MLK are their own worst enemies!

I decided to start this discussion thread because I dislike how so many evangelical Christians fervently support Donald Trump. Indeed, their support for the guy is unwavering and often fanatical, a description that is by no means hyperbolic. A cursory glance at the life of Trump demonstrates that he is a deeply sinful man. One such example is that he has been married three times, having divorced two wives already, and it gets worse: All three women were betrayed including his third wife, Melania. During Trump’s third marriage, he slept with an aged porn star and paid her hush money to keep the affair a secret (which didn’t turn out too well for him).

To be clear about something: I am not arguing whether or not Trump is a sincere Christian. That isn’t the topic of this discussion. My opinion is that, while Trump pays lip service to the evangelical political positions to court their votes, he is only saying what he must say to garner support, get the right-wing votes, and ultimately get what he wants: Another shot at being POTUS for four more years. Obviously Trump’s so-called faith in Christ exists only insofar as it benefits his political career. That is why there aren’t any accounts of him being a regular church-going Christian.

When Donald Trump lost the 2020 Presidential Election to Joe Biden, something truly terrible ensued: An insurrection at the White House. Trump supporters stormed the place, bringing with them Confederate flags, many of them armed, and some people died. It was truly a national disgrace.

Granted Trump didn’t give any specific orders to overthrow the White House. But consider the nature of his speech: It was vindictive with victimhood written all over it, and there was an implicit assumption of violence. Inciting an insurrection indirectly is still inciting an insurrection! Fortunately there are over a dozen states that are now trying to keep the insurrectionist off the ballot so he doesn’t become president again, and hopefully dozens more states will follow suit.

Jesus has been nicknamed the Prince of Peace because he taught love, mercy, compassion, kindness, and all the great heavenly virtues. How do Evangelical Christians reconcile Jesus’ pacifism with their support for Trump, a notorious insurrectionist? Jesus also taught lifetime monogamy in Matthew 19:8-9. How do Evangelical Christians reconcile Jesus’ teaching about marital faithfulness with Trump's serial betrayals against all three of his wives?
Do you work for the DNC?

Trump is not a notorious insurrectionist.

Trump did not call for insurrection.

If you want to cast stones start with former SotH Nancy Pelosi.
The SotH gives orders to the Capitol police.

The D.C protest, which was our Constitutional right, was peaceful until ANTIFA showed up.

NP ordered the CP to stand down on January 6th and to let ANTIFA through the barricades.

When they gained entry is when the peace at that protest ended.

I'm afraid I've failed to notice your activity on the forum until just now.

Welcome aboard! :)

While I am in genuine sympathy with your obvious concern that the leader of our country should be a person of a high moral character (in which Mr. Trump fails to inspire much confidence), these two statements from your OP go to considerable lengths in contradicting one another.

I guess the evangelical conservatives in Iowa were able to reconcile this imaginary issue @Saint of Light

51% support in a big field.

Interesting to think that in 2016 Trump won the Presidency, without winning in Iowa. He's greatly increased his support.

His margin of victory was a full 30 points over second place. This is an all-time record. The previous biggest margin of victory in Iowa was 13 percentage points, back in 1988, more than 35 years ago.

Ummm that would have been RFK jr ???????
Yes. Jr
The reason I bring it up it's because he did such a good job exposing the fact that covid was planned from back in 2019.
One of the things that he brought out was that they did some kind of drills or enactment or planning on the government response that would be enacted for covid and he noticed that in that response it was a military response to control people.
it was not a medical response.
And it made me Ponder those statements. Because that's exactly what they did.
They controlled the duped and unlearned population.
This sets of precedent that the Democrats, at least some of them, are waking up to the destruction of our country.

Well it led to the civil rights movement and I think that was a good thing.
And now it seems it's being flipped on it's head.
The world is upside down.

So true.
It would seem that over and over and over the devil overplays his hand.
There isn't a decent American in the whole United States that can't see the demonic Destruction that has taken place through the Democratic Party.
There's also the fact that if you ask a Democrat or any anti-trumper why they don't like him, or what policies, or enactments he did that you don't like, I have never gotten a straight answer out any of them.
The elephant in the room, is that this is a spiritual dynamic, and that is why the haters do not know the source of their own TDS.
Nor can you tell them the bridge is out and you better get a clue.
A good analogy of what is truly going on in our country would be a democrat in the back room of their house watching CNN and absorbing as much propaganda for the day as they possibly can, up into the saturation point.
Then when you drive by their house you see biden and obama on bulldozers ripping down the front porch and proceeding to tear the entire house down.
So you run around back and beat on the back door and tell them , "you got to get out ,or you got to stop them because they will end up completely destroying you."
Then a rage comes upon them and they say, "my democrat leaders would never do such a thing."

Ah, I hoped I deleted it before anyone read it. It's not related to the OP so I shouldn't have posted it.

Well, debating is bullying in a way. It's trying to persuade another that your point of view is more justified than another.
It's the nature of debate.
Your not being bullied, your being debated as to why you believe your view is as justified or more justified than anothers.
And to debate is to argue as in a court of law, your case as to the why's.

I understand the attacks can become personal and they shouldn't either way.
And sometimes people don't listen to the answers. A lot of assumptions happening all the time.
I get it.

Walking into a debate is like walking into the fire. You have to be ready to defend your stance on why you believe the way you do and why your view is justified. It's a matter of persuasion. And in most cases it's an art, that many of us don't possess but believe we do LOL.

If debating is too hot, then stay out of the fire. If the topic is too controversial then avoid it.
There's a lot of debates going on I never participate in because I know there's no way I'm going to persuade the opposing side of why my views are justified. And those are mainly debates that have to do with particular religions which I am opposed to.
But I know, no matter how much I try to persuade the other side that my point of view is justified,
It just ends up in endless foodfights.
Life is too short.
LOL

I try to keep to the topic of the opening post but I often get off track. Sometimes I share personal thoughts which are not appropraite or releative to the topic at hand.
A lot of times I am quick to speak and not so quick to listen, and I should practice more of wha I preach.
God Bless and thank you for the reminder of how not to be a hypocrite.

I think a lot of Rebuplicans have had to come to grips with their own party as well.
I'm thinking Bush Jr. and the weapons of mass destruction and the implementation of the patriot act scam.

I don't think we've really had time to deal with that mess.

They keep the ball rolling so fast it's hard to catch your breath and see the truth behind it all.
They work together to make themselves rich at the cost of the people, who are only slaves to them.

Someday we may ralize we're not as free as we profess to be. It's just not blatently apparent in this country like it is others.
But they have different classes of slaves. And we're not on the bottom rung, but we're pretty close to it.
The children are who they're after. Because once they have them, they have the future and the world.

It's not an us vs. them. It's a good vs. evil. And both sides are coming under their authority even if we don't all see it.

Our Republican leaders would never lie to us and bring us in a neverending war in the middle east just for oil.
Oh but they did, they did. And thousand died and many cried, and they even didn't blink an eye.

Hugs

I think it was Crimson Contagion. and I forget the other one.

Crimson Contagion

Simulation testing U.S. response to a severe influenza pandemic
Crimson Contagion was a joint exercise conducted from January to August 2019, in which numerous national, state and local, private and public organizations in the US participated, in order to test the capacity of the federal government and twelve states to respond to a severe pandemic of influenza originating in China. oh yeah, it was called Event 201:

All that was needed, and I'd love to see the sales numbers on Trump's MAGA site, was to purchase and wear red MAGA shirts and or hats.

It's interesting to see 'Christians' casting stones at Trump for his past. As if God didn't forgive their past.

My reason for creating this thread wasn’t to cast stones at Donald Trump’s unrepentant immorality. It was to ask how so many conservative Christians can support him when he character, conduct, and morals are nothing Christ-like.

By the way, it isn’t wrong to criticize a politician’s immorality. Another reprehensible thing Trump did was call for banning Muslims from our country. He couched it as a way to prevent terrorism, but obviously he wanted to keep brown people out of America. It is wrong to scapegoat an entire group of people, falsely indict them as terrorists, and tell them they aren’t welcome here in the US; and he did it to play on people’s fears and court right-wing votes. You argued that because God forgives my past sins that I can’t criticize Trump’s sins against Muslims (and from what I know, Trump never recanted the Muslim travel ban idea). How does that make any sense?
