Adam was created perfect. He had the ability to sin. He was also alive spiritually

When he sinned, He died spiritually. That death passed to all men. Which is what Jesus meant when he said we who have recieved eternal life have passed from death to life. How was it done? By hearing and believing

Unless one is born again, He can not see the kingdom of God.
Therefore.

Romans 8:7-9

Romans 8:7-9 NKJV

Because the carnal mind is enmity against God; for it is not subject to the law of God, nor indeed can be. So then, those who are in the flesh cannot please God. But you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. Now if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he is not

So, in order to understand “ abiding in Christ “ one must be Born Again/ Born of God.....then we have the Spirit of God, who keeps us abiding in the true vine?

And God’s word does say, without the Holy Spirit we are absolutely nothing.

Empty vessels ....

Quote something I said, then agree or disagree, explaining why. Don't start a dozens-of-comments-long "high five comments" chain reaction, which suppresses the discussion, because all people see is "I agree with you when you disagree with the OP" rather than actual careful treatment of the material.

Amen, And we are born again Like jesus said in John 3 - 6 through faith in Christ and asking him for the living water bread from heaven.. That is when he attaches us to the vine, and we are able to produce fruit.

Here we go with the dozens of comments long "Oh, I agree!" "Oh I agree!" "Oh I agree!" "Oh I agree!" derailment of my thread.

True,

But it is still very simple

1. We are attached to the vine, when we are born again.

2. By being attached to the vine (abiding in Christ) his supplies the power to produce fruit.

however, we can produce little to know fruit sending on what happens.

We can fall on the ground and need lifting up.

We need pruned.

But fruit produce will reap rewards. Not only For God but for us.

Makes perfect sense.

Amen!!
It is praise to God. If keeping ourselves attached to the vine (abiding in him) is required to keep the gift of eternal life. Well then eternal life is not a gift. It depends on us remaining in Christ. Not Christ keeping us in him.

I think if we really look at it. No one would make it if that was required. Because who abides perfectly

This is what you always devolve into: "he doesn't agree with me because he's not born again".

This is not what a discussions involves.

A discussion would consist in quoting something I said that you disagreed with, then proving why what I said was incorrect from the immediate context, then substantiating that with other Scriptural references, NOT "oh,yes, brother, amen, yes, he doesn't agree with us because he's not spiritual". That is not a discussion.

You are not here to start a long chain of "oh amen I agree with you" with others you agree with, which is a suppression of MY discussion, because people are not going to see a careful treatment of the material I set forth, you are here to quote something I said, and agree or disagree with it. That is a discussion with ME on MY thread.

John 15:5
“I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.

As we can see, Abiding in Christ is not to be saved, it is about doing AFTER we are saved.

if we abide in him, we will bear much fruit.

If we do not, we can not DO nothing.

its about doing, not earning or becoming

@Ritajanice mentioned receiving the spirit. This is why she said it. Because it is through recieving the spirit. That we KNOW we abide in him.

Abiding in him has another purpose. So we are not ASHAMED when he comes

1 John 2:28
And now, little children, abide in Him, that when He appears, we may have confidence and not be ashamed before Him at His coming

Why? Again it is doing.

what do we do when we abide in him?

1 John 3:24
Now he who keeps His commandments abides in Him, and He in him. And by this we know that He abides in us, by the Spirit whom He has given us

Again, As @Ritajanice said, it is because the spirit is in us

This is why it’s imperative that we are+Born from Above....,for what are we and what knowledge of the Bible do we have...without the Holy Spirit?
