Offered for balance.

“A man who finds a wife finds a good thing and obtains favor from the LORD.”
(Proverbs 18:22, HCSB)

I've been looking for one for years without success; I was a bit on the shy side in my younger years and by the time I'd psyched myself up to talk to women I'd missed my chance as all the nice ones had been snapped up..:)

Can we be trusting enough to say, I know what God's will is for my life, it's revealed in my circumstances? To accept the conditions and burden of the day, trusting that all this is according to His love for me?

When you delight in the Lord, your desire is for Him.

Much love!
In my Christian life I have often asked the Lord what is his plan for my life. I used to hope for a 'ministry' and wondered why my prayers weren't answered and then I came to understand that his plan for me was just to do what I have been doing to the best of my ability. To be a wife and mother and take care of my home and family and to step in to do what I could for my church family, not front of house but making the brews, operating the projector and publishing the newsletter. We can't all have front of house ministries but we can all be the best we can be doing the little jobs and we can all pray.

But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.
Isaiah 40:31

This verse is near and dear to me as this is part of my calling to serve the LORD, but what struck me today is the "wait upon the LORD" thing. Sometimes we want to rush into our calling, force our way in, instead of waiting upon the LORD to place us where we belong.

For example, I Know that part of my calling is to write a book, I have tried to begin writing this book to no avail as the Spirit has yet to lead me to that point, perhaps my understanding is not complete, Perhaps the time is not yet for such a book, perhaps He just needs to finish some work in me that will allow me to write that book? So I wait upon the LORD to direct me and lead me in this regard.

The same is true of my relationships. Since my divorce I know I have been praying for a woman to love. I Know I have tried to ask a few ladies out, but to no avail, But I Know the LORD has the right person out there for me, that he is waiting to develop this Love in His time, not my time.

Learning to wait upon the LORD is an act of faith we can live by everyday which teaches us to release our anxiety of the present and lean on our hope in the future providence of the LORD. When we wait on Him He will lift us up and let us soar like the eagles.

For encouragement for anyone feeling anxious about their situation. Myself included.
God Bless

You know, it’s been quite a few years ago that I read that verse you began with and really saw it. I mean, SAW it. From every direction (including from in myself) I was being ground upon and worn down and pestered to…do something! Do something! And then that verse made me just catch my breath in wonder. It made me dig out strongs to see what other verses there were about waiting for God. I think I was looking for even more help, strength, reviving and encouragement than that verse had just given to me. I was completely shocked at how many verses there were concerning waiting on God. I don’t remember exactly how many, but there were dozens upon dozens upon dozens. I drank so deeply I couldn’t believe it.
Now I have been in another of those waiting for God places. I don’t even know how long it’s been…I’m guessing around 2 years now? And I’ve seen some pretty wonderful and promising inklings and beginnings of what I’m waiting for because I began by not having any real idea of WHAT I was waiting for, I just knew I was waiting. I need to keep waiting but the brief glimpses I’ve been given have strengthened me the same way those verses did years ago.

The past is history and tomorrow is another day. I hear women saying all the nice fellas have been taken. (They’re mistaken. I offer you as exhibit A - don’t let me down!) I’m not a matchmaker, and I can’t offer you any guarantee, but I wouldn’t say that you’ve missed your chance. If you’re still interested, there are nice women out there. Go in search of them, and God be with you.

I've been looking for 50-odd years but I simply never met any woman who made me think "She's the one"..:)
For example there was middleaged June who lived a couple of miles from me, we dated a few times and she once rang me up around midnight and said "I'm sitting halfway down the stairs wishing I was dead".
"Hang on" I said, "I'll hop on me bike and pedal over"
"No, no" she said, "please don't bother, I'm going to watch my Billy Elliot video in a minute".
We sort of drifted apart after that..:)

Yes I have done that search as well, and that is a very deep well, which adds to us the virtue of Patience along with relieving the self imposed anxiety our lack of faith in His Providence imposes on us. I Have been dealing with this even today, and your comment brought me great peace. Thank you @stunnedbygrace.

Read 2 Peter 1:5-8, and note the order these virtues are listed, and the place of patience on the list.

It is a self imposed anxiety, isn’t it…when all 3 of the world, your own flesh and the devil work up to a simultaneous, cacophonous crescendo of noise, you can always just return to trust but you don’t at first because you don’t understand warfare yet and you’re stumbling around and confused from the concussion bomb.

Concerning those virtues, I read some old saint who said something like… there is one thing that if you grow in it will automatically increase you in all of the virtues at once. Humility.

@David H.
Is.40:31 ( context 28-31 )
This has always been a favorite of mine too from Isaiah.
This chapter extols the greatness and supremacy of the God who is the " I am "

Not once has he needed to consult with any nor had his plans pre-approved . He doesnt grow weary or become faint at existence ; HE SIMPLY IS AND WILL EVER BE !

We are like grasshoppers in his sight. He sets ppl up and he brings them down. We are as the grass that withereth and fades back into the earth.

Yet his love and all that he holds he gives to those who realize he is everything ;our shepherd who feeds and tenderly cares for his flock. His arm is NOT shortened, nor his ear deaf that he doesnt give to those who wait and trust in him.

It is in Him and He alone that we must wait, for it is God who will renew our strengths that we may soar as the eagles, nesting in the higher points. He will help us to run this race with patience and not be weary in well doing.
He will give strength to the dry bones and cause us to rise up on strong feet and stand tall for him. All we must do is wait upon the Lord.

Blessings.
Hi @L3astAm0ngManyB13ss3d Oh I love Isaiah! there are so many strengthening, encouraging passages in it, and Messianic content is strong also.....

BTW, God is using you to speak to me right now... Thank you. I Have been anxious all day, and last night was a particularly bad day at work.

A bad day? o_O :p I had a few bad years of harassing and ever returning anxiety. I’d get straight and then it would crash down on me again. I began to think it would just be the rest of my life to keep stumbling in trust.
I had no idea at the time that it was warfare. I thought it was just me. I didn’t know satans tactics. I had no idea he was taunting, harassing and oppressing me. I mean, no one teaches about it that I’d ever heard, so I literally didn’t know. I didn’t know he was trying to hinder me and stopping up wells. I didn’t know he could attack me through other people either by manipulating their flesh. I didn’t know the length and intensity of it all was because he was scared he might lose his power to hinder me soon.

At some point God gave me a verse I clung tightly to that says after you’ve struggled for a while, He will confirm, strengthen and establish you. It gave me a rope to hang onto that convinced me it would not be forever. And it wasn’t forever. It was three years though.

A bad day? o_O :p I had a few bad years of harassing and ever returning anxiety.

I have had that anxiety too but Tuesday was a particularly bad day. I am pretty even keeled person when it comes to dealing with people (customers), my motto is "smile and wave"(from finding nemo), even when they are rude. I had a customer call me that night with a complaint and she was extremely rude and condescending and it Got to the point where i called her a "Karen" and hung up on her.... I talked to my manager today thinking I might get reprimanded for this, she told me that after she was done dealing with her on the phone she threw the phone and cursed up a storm.... so I felt a little better after that, it wasn't just me. Mind you I have never been rude like that especially to women on the phone.

The anxiety came because of how dependent I am on my insurance through my work. All these health issues of mine are being done without Government assistance, that is just how I was brought up, not to take the handout but to work your way through if possible, The Government assistance being the safety net when we can no longer keep working. Losing my Job would lead to me losing my insurance... so I was particularly anxious.... God has a way of comforting us though and this post is the result of that, as i said it is directed to myself as much as for encouragement for anyone else who needs this. What I did not see is that this is how the adversary likes to attack us, as you so eloquently put it "a cacophounes crescendo of noise", and that one event led to anxiety over every little thing that night.

Waiting upon the Lord is that "Rope" that I hang onto now, when anxiety hits. That is how the Holy Spirit (God with us) speaks to us. He put that phrase in my head and made me do that strong's search and low and behold the verse of my calling had that phrase in it and it brought me great peace and comfort. The problem is the adversary attacking us, the problem is within us and a lack of faith in the providence of God, God will carry us through when we learn to wait on Him, He will bless us the way he sees fit not sometimes how we see fit.... "Not my will but thine be done..." "He is the potter, we are the clay".

Remember every struggle, battle, torment, harrassement, hindrance, complaint, ache, pain ect serves to make us overcomers in Christ .
Rms.8:34-39 ( context )
Who condemns us, not Christ for he sits at the right hand of God making intercession for us !
Who shall separate us from the love of Christ, shall tribulation, distress, persecution, famine, nakedness, peril, or sword ?

NAY, IN ALL THESE THINGS WE ARE ......MORE THAN........CONQUERORS THROUGH HIM THAT LOVED US.

Be fully PERSUADED that neither life, nor death, nor angels nor principalities, nor powers nor things present nor to come,
Nothing,
shall separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord .!

Be encouraged my family, you are in good hands if you are led by the Spirit, for this makes us sons / daughters of God !

Indeed, it is a wonderful passage. But it has been adopted by the church as applying to the return of Jesus as if He did not already go to the Father and return in spirit to be with us until the end of the age, just as He said.

Preterist? I am guessing? Although This verse can be used in regard to the second coming it is a promise for us here and now as well, Preterists have a grasp on this part of the Gospel that many futurists miss, although I consider myself a futurist and Believe that Jesus will come again to rule for a 1000 years (Pre-millenialist). Jesus never went away, as he is omnipresent, so the second coming is a misnomer.

Jesus never went away, as he is omnipresent, so the second coming is a misnomer.

It's presented in Hebrews,

First coming:

Hebrews 9:11-12 KJV
11) But Christ being come an high priest of good things to come, by a greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not of this building;
12) Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us.

Second coming:

Hebrews 9:28 KJV
28) So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation.

Much love!

Wow...so many 'isms!

But no, just Christian. In which case I should believe that when Jesus said, "I am going to the Father", "Behold, I am coming quickly!", and "I am with you always, even to the end of the age” that it is all true. And I do.

As for the origin of the idea of waiting on the Lord, it was given to Israel before Christ first came--that is...wait until He comes--not to keep waiting after He had already come. It was not a message for the church to wait--no where does He say that.

As for the would-be thousand years, God used the same term to say He owned the cattle on every hill (not just a thousand), and Peter clarified it to mean no exact amount of time, but rather the fulness thereof.

Sigh…
I came rushing back as soon as I could because…He came among us earlier and it was wonderful, absolutely wonderful.
I guess I was hoping to catch Him again. Or…catch Him still here. But that’s not how it works, is it? Oh, sigh…it’s more like catching a wave and then it’s gone.
