Sigh…
I came rushing back as soon as I could because…He came among us earlier and it was wonderful, absolutely wonderful.
I guess I was hoping to catch Him again. Or…catch Him still here. But that’s not how it works, is it? Oh, sigh…it’s more like catching a wave and then it’s gone.

For example, I Know that part of my calling is to write a book, I have tried to begin writing this book to no avail as the Spirit has yet to lead me to that point, perhaps my understanding is not complete, Perhaps the time is not yet for such a book, perhaps He just needs to finish some work in me that will allow me to write that book? So I wait upon the LORD to direct me and lead me in this regard.

Let me encourage you with something. I write Bible studies. I know it's not the same thing as writing a book, but they used to be very lengthy in fact, and filled with citations, so I'm not talking about three paragraphs and a clever anecdote.

I would often hit the wall as well, but what I learned over time was to wait on God, and I'm not just borrowing from your title. I came to find out usually my understanding of the passage (or Chapter, or sometimes letter as a whole) was not complete yet, and occasionally a good ways off. If I were to have forced the writing of a study before the Holy Spirit was fully able to reveal to me what the passage was actually saying, A. It would have been labor gone to waste, and when you're grinding that sort of thing can go really slow, B. I might have ended up teaching people falsely, and maybe worst of all, C. I would have missed receiving the accurate interpretation of the passage because I moved on from it without taking the time to actually hear from God.

Stick with His timing. It may be hard having to endure it, but "if the Lord does not build the house, they labor in vain who build it."

I have found life is more simple in God's will if we just BLOOM where we are planted and minister according to how the Spirit wills his gifts in our life.

He is never wrong in his choosing but as has been said our zeal for God can cause root rot or parasites to overcome us.

Let us wait on the Lord for he is the Master gardener. We may plant, another may water but ...It is God whom gives the increase.

Blessings all.

I can attest by experience that this scripture is so true. I was single for many years as a Christian and actually prayed for the desires of a woman to be taken away from me (I had been in a prior unmarried relationship before getting saved and it went very badly).

Sounds like my experience as well.

And I would have fouled things up if I could have, but the Lord managed to bring me a good one - an immigrant from Guatemala - as a next door neighbor about 15 years ago. I wouldn't have even considered her until we started getting to know one another, and then it was like, "woah... we are clicking all over the place here. This woman is fun to be around, like all the time."

She still is, no matter what we're going through or what the circumstances, and I had nothing to do with it. I wasn't even looking.

God does not see us as a group but as individual believers of his love and mercy.

What he may call upon one to do may be just a simple act to another and vice versa. We Will however, be responsible for each call and give account to either our obedience or rebellion.

We walk this way by FAITH ; faith in a Lord and Master that desires only the best for and of us.
Our desire may be to make a grand gesture in his honour and glory, but his desire is the widows mite if it is ALL and the BEST we have to give.

I say not only must we WAIT upon the Lord but we must REST in him also.
Heb.4:1-4 speaks in context to the fact the gospel was preached unto us a ppl that profited in his message by faith and by faith enter into his rest, eventhough the works were finished from the foundations of the world.

Stand fast, wait upon the Lord, rest in his assurance and love knowing our hope is in him. Do not MOVE beyond God but allow the Spirit to give direction and your walk will GLORIFY HIM !

Excellent post. :)

my motto is "smile and wave"(from finding nemo), even when they are rude.

Maybe the Lord made me differently... cuz my motto is "smile and politely hit them with a haymaker." But I do smile, and try to be friendly about it.

Must have watched the wrong movie.

What I did not see is that this is how the adversary likes to attack us

But to begin to see that is a giant step forward! Because you then begin to see more and more tactics and his sly uses of others in an attempt to hinder you and it makes it harder for you to even GET angry because you finally SEE what’s going on and the emotional unhealth he can cause manipulating the flesh of us all. Once you’re onto him, it’s a giant leap forward and it’s hard to get angry at people. You rather feel compassion for them instead when you see what is being done to them. Now, if they’re a Christian, you begin to deal so honestly that you call bull on them because to not do so will not in any way help them and would not be loving them. So then you will get angry sulks and various forms of “you’re a big meanie to be so honest and open.”

@L3astAm0ngManyB13ss3d Reminds me of 1 Corinthians 3.6: "I have planted, Apollos watered; but God gave the increase."

Can we be trusting enough to say, I know what God's will is for my life, it's revealed in my circumstances? To accept the conditions and burden of the day, trusting that all this is according to His love for me?

It takes a while to get there. Lots of struggle. We have this thing we do where we judge like…oh, it is God! or oh, no, it is satan! And we tend to make the judgement by the criteria of whether it’s pleasing to us or distasteful to us, which really isn’t the best criteria when you think about it.

But we do come to a point where we say, wait a minute…do I need to even labor over making that judgement seeing as how He works ALL things to my good…? Even if it were satan, or even if it really is a stone and not bread, does it matter when even what is meant for evil God means for good?

So very true!

@Episkopos put it well one time, "we want we want we want".

It's good to learn to rest in trust.

I personally see "the restraining power over evil" to be, "we know all things work together for good to those who live Him".

Much love!
