It pays to quote the person you are responding to.....:hmhehm

How else are people to know what you mean? And whom you are addressing?
Learn to be specific....
I quoted you! After you quoted my Luke posting and then delivered a presumptive screed that judged me just for quoting Luke.

I quoted you! Which is why you replied to my post because I quoted you and that got your attention on your alerts column.

Learn not to be a failed smarty pants.

It has nothing to do with who @Biblepaige was addressing, but rather how you went on a 10+ paragraph rant about the Parable of the Rich Man in response to a post he submitted saying, "See Luke 16," and you began by implying that he takes the parable literally, without bothering to first ask if he does, or what he meant by citing the chapter, or who he was addressing, nor anything else. Learn to just...not do that.

Well, for some, truth bubbles up in them to the point they are eager to share! BTW the parable is not literal and it was intended to rebuke the rich Pharisees who held similar false doctrines to many Christians today. It was a masterfully crafted work by the Lord!

See Luke 16
This was addressed to Mr Nobody....so, as a Mrs Nobody I responded to what I believed was the topic under discussion.....which involved death and resurrection vs death and an afterlife.....none of us are mind readers though some seem to assume that we are.

I saw an opportunity to address Luke 16.....with the subject under discussion.....sorry if it caused offence....
It’s what the Bible says....and you introduced it without citing any specific verses.
Do you have a reply to the post in question.....or just a complaint that you were misunderstood because your own post was ambiguous? :no reply:

You want to whine because I addressed part of a Scripture you cited? :ummm:
Are you serious?

There is nothing at all vague regarding Luke 16 if someone is familiar with the text. Because they then see how that responds to the OP question.

And you are a paragraph counter are you?....that is rich coming from one who himself replies with very long posts....most of which is promoting Catholic nonsense that most other posters of Protestant persuasion here will not agree with anyway.

I wasn’t aware that there was a paragraph limit.....and besides which fact, no one is standing there with a big stick forcing you, or anyone else here, to read it.

Are you trying to win Brownie points now? :funlaugh2

There is when you don’t explain what your point is.
How many different topics are mentioned in Luke 16? You didn’t cite any one of them specifically.....so “the rich man and Lazarus” was the obvious one to me....was it not the one you intended to highlight? If not then what was your point....just the be clear....?

My posts are often long, and the comeback "that's rich" would apply if I had criticized you for posting long posts, but I didn't. I also didn't say there was a paragraph limit, but rather said you responded with 10+ paragraphs in response to a vague 2 worded post, where you began by implying that @Biblepaige takes the Parable of the Rich Man literally, without bothering to first ask if he does, or what he meant by citing Lk. 16, or who he was addressing, nor anything else.

I didn't say there is someone standing here with a big stick forcing me or anyone else to read your post (#304).

JW's will wish they were destroyed! They're not gonna like their eternal roommates!
If Jesus is your God, why do make Him so cruel & vindictive??

Jesus was loving and kind.
Revelation 20:10
10 The devil, who deceived them, was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone where the beast and the false prophet are. And they will be tormented day and night forever and ever.
You like that passage, don’t you?

What’s “the beast”?

What is the “false prophet”?

What is the Greek origin of this word “tormented”?

Do you at least have anything good to say? Your vitriol is repulsive.

Well that’s odd.....that wasn’t me.......I never said that....should I throw a tantrum now that I have been misquoted? :noyyd

@face2face said it, but you got tagged in my reply to him instead on accident. Do you feel the need to throw a tantrum about that?

I didn't say He's "cruel and vindictive". YOU just did!
Jesus was loving and kind.
And here's the last Words JW's will hear from Jesus:

Matthew 25:41
41 Then He will also say to those on the left hand, 'Depart from Me, you cursed, into the everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels:
You like that passage, don’t you?
I LOVE the Bible!
What’s “the beast”?

What is the “false prophet”?
Whoever they are they will be "tormented day and night FOREVER"!
What is the Greek origin of this word “tormented”?
Now you're gonna twist the HELL out of the Scripture?
Do you at least have anything good to say?
Yeah, you're not in Hell yet! There may be hope for you if you can escape the WatchTower prison.
Your vitriol is repulsive.
You're referring to God of the Bible! Good luck on Judgment Day.

Jesus told the thief on the cross, "today you will be with me in paradise." He wasn't referring to heaven since Jesus didn't ascend to heaven until after his resurrection. There is a belief that there was once a good part of hell partitioned off for the saints prior to Jesus resurrection since they couldn't automatically go to heaven because Jesus hadn't yet paid the price. Once the price was paid, they were able to ascend to heaven. That's why the dead Old Testament saints were seen walking around Jerusalem after Jesus' was crucified (Matt 27:50–53).

This gets into the idea of Abraham's bosom, which comes from the story of the rich man and Lazarus. Some think this was only a parable, but it was never prefaced as a parable, and unlike parables, real names were used. The rich man and Lazarus were separated by a gulf that they could not cross. However, Jesus preached to the disboident spirits (possibly fallen angels) during this time, so it's reasonable to assume that Jesus was able to cross the gulf between the good part of hell and the bad part.

Luke 16 is certainly not a parable. It's about literal Biblical people, Moses, Abraham ...

The New Covenant gives us plenty of warnings about this NIGHTMARE soon to come for the majority of humans, Satan and his angels! Hell will be filled with people who don't believe in Hell!

The idea that humans do not "have" a soul but "are" a soul aligns with the biblical understanding found in Genesis 2:7, where it says, "Then the Lord God formed man of dust from the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and man became a living soul (nephesh)." Here, the Hebrew word nephesh refers to the entire being or person, not something separate from the body. So, humans are "living souls," meaning that the body and life breath together form the whole person. This suggests that rather than possessing a separate entity called a soul, we are holistic beings—living souls composed of both body and spirit.

J.
Well if Genesis 2:7 was the only verse on the subject you would be right. However teh bible has much more evidence and man is comprised of body (the physical form) soul (the immaterial part that rationalizes, thinks, emotes etc.) and the spirit(which is dead in the unsaved but made alive in believers)
