I am diving more deeply into these books. Some from before still. It’s “The Shape of Water” by Guillermo Toro. A sort of sci fi fantasy romance horror. It’s heavily inspired by the “Creature of the Black Lagoon” movie trilogy. It’s a social commentary on disfranchised marginalized people being harmed by normative driven social structures in power. The book is a novelization of the movie written by the author. He’s also done Pan’s Labyrinth and the strain series. Very much SFX and character narrative driven. The original film script was actually supposed to have become the script for a “CotBL” fourth film. But ended up a spiritual successor and stand alone. IMG_5297.png
The other book is nonfiction and is centered on a short introductory commentary on the books of the Tanakh. It’s by John Walton who practices very good contextual analysis to flesh out the ancient Jewish context of the stories we tend to white wash and westernized.

* That’s fair. But the “Good Book” - which neither of my parents cared much about - my grandparents read to me and put in my hands is the event in my life. *

* I’m not in full agreement with the depicted alternative, but I’m in partial agreement bigly. *
