Again, you ignore context. John 3:20 says,
“For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved.”
The context of your verse is....>"lest his deeds should be reproved".
This can be a believer.
This can be an unbeliever.
IN the case of the Believer, its a guilty conscience and a strong feeling of condemnation.
This is what drives the baby christians to confess their sin, as they are trying to get relief from that stinging conscience.
The mature believer, just sighs, and thanks God for the righteousness they have become. They glorify God who sent Jesus to the Cross to become their sin.
In the case of a unbeliever........they are hiding from the Light of Truth, that has revealed them, and does reveal them as depraved lovers of sin.
The sad case of most unbelievers is that they believe that God is angry with them.
The Gospel being shared with them, allows them to see God in a NEW LIGHT....The Light of love and reconciliation.
