The book of the revelation of Jesus Christ tells us of the last two witnesses martyred because of their testimony (and their works) and the passage is immediately followed by a description of the return of Christ. Not everything in that book is in chronological order, but these witnesses are clearly empowered by God through the Holy Spirit. It's not much of a stretch to see them as the last of the generation of the righteous (the entire world celebrates their deaths.) If you consider the end times as beginning with the resurrection of Christ, then all history since that time has been fulfilling Christ's words, and the end times are not completed until His return in glory. If people have thought repeatedly that His return was imminent, that's because the signs of the times have been increasingly resembling what He said beforehand. In the times of Caesar Nero, who would have imagined the rise of the man Mohammad and the rise of Islam? In the days of the Ottoman empire, who would've imagined the rise of Napoleon Bonaparte? And in the 18th century, who would've imagined the rise of Adolf Hitler?well it does say this will happen to all who dwell on the face of the earth, ya :)
the Scattering Stones thing happened literally to the temple though, right
although i guess all of the pertinent elements there also have spiritual definitions, stones, temple
seems to me that
27At that time they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory

Galileans, why do you stand there looking up at the sky?
must needs be reconciled somehow
Not exactly true:There IS only ONE ANTI-CHRIST and all his disciples are called anti-Christs; just as Jesus is the only CHRIST and His disciples are called CHRISTIANS.

I used to think that 7 was the number of completion and probably because esoteric teachings said so, but all creation was completed in the sixth day, not the seventh: 31And God saw everything that he had made, and behold, it was very good. And there was evening and there was morning, the sixth day. The beginning of the 2nd chapter of Genesis goes on to say that God finished His work on the seventh day and rested, but the implication of those verses is that the last part of God's work was not the creation (which in the sixth day was "very good.") Kinda makes you wonder what He was doing in those dark hours before the dawn of the seventh day.In scripture the number 6 at times represents imperfection. The number of “the wild beast” is 666 and is called “a man’s number,” indicating that it has to do with imperfect, fallen man, and it seems to symbolize the imperfection of that which is represented by “the wild beast which is created and empowered by Satan."
The number six being emphasized to a third degree (the six appearing in the position of units, tens, and hundreds) therefore highlights the imperfection and deficiency of that which the beast represents, or pictures. Revelation 13:18
So the wild beast has a name, and this name is a number: 666. Six, as a number, is associated with Jehovah’s enemies. A Philistine man of the Rephaim was of “extraordinary size,” and his “fingers and toes were in sixes.” 1Chronicles 20:6.
King Nebuchadnezzar erected a golden image 6 cubits in breadth and 60 cubits high, to unify his political officials in one worship. When God’s servants refused to worship the image of gold, the king had them thrown into a fiery furnace. Daniel 3:1-23.The number six falls short of seven, which stands for completeness from God’s standpoint. Therefore, a triple six represents gross imperfection.
A name identifies a person. So how does this number identify the beast? John says that it “is a man’s number,” not that of a spirit person, so the name helps to confirm that the wild beast is earthly, symbolizing human government. Just as six fails to measure up to seven, so 666—six to the third degree—is a fitting name for the world’s gigantic political system that fails so miserably to measure up to God’s standard of perfection. The world’s political wild beast rules supreme under the name-number 666, while big politics, big religion, and big business keep that wild beast functioning as an oppressor of mankind and a persecutor of God’

18 Little children, it is the last hour; and as you have heard that the Antichrist is coming, even now many antichrists have come, by which we know that it is the last hour. 1 John 2:18
Hi @michaelvpardo 7 is often referred to as the number of heaven... :)I used to think that 7 was the number of completion and probably because esoteric teachings said so, but all creation was completed in the sixth day, not the seventh: 31And God saw everything that he had made, and behold, it was very good. I believe you are in error. Perhaps you should re-read Chapter 14, and then read 13:18 which tells EACH OF US who has wisdom to calculate his name, -- which is a simple process.Truther said:
The entire world has no ability to do that.
Scripture says:
Rev. 13:18 This calls for wisdom: let him who has understanding reckon the number of the beast, for it is a human number, its number is six hundred and sixty-six.

Does anyone think that the Church will be going through the great tribulation?
Then you are wrong.Yes, I do!
I saw that movie (I've always been a fan of Arnold Schwarzenegger back to his days as Mr. Universe), but there's nothing in scripture that actually says that. I'll grant you that the scripture actually does describe both the spirit of antichrist and the spirit of error, the spirit of this age, etc., but nowhere in scripture is Satan given attributes like God's as in omnipresence, omniscience, or universal spirit. In 1st John we're told that there are many antichrists in the world as evidence that the Antichrist is coming, so your reasoning is putting the cart before the horse. Is Satan greater than God so that he can multiply his spirit and spread it to people all over the world before he arrives in person?I beg to differ! Sorry, you did NOT get the gist of my statement.
THE ANTI-CHRIST is none other than Satan! He has always been in enmity with Christ.
Genesis 3:14-15:
14) "And the LORD God said unto to the serpent (Satan), Because thou has done this, thou art cursed above all cattle, and above every beast of the field; upon thy belly shalt thy go, and dust shall thou eat all the days of thy life:
15)And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel."
