We cannot reconcile ourselves to God by works, laws or religion. The Catholic church cannot reconcile anyone to God. If you believe that it can, you have been deceived. Many believe that they can reconcile themselves to God by keeping the commandments. Others believe that they can reconcile themselves to God by living holy lives. If you believe that you can do something or become something that will reconcile you into God, you have been deceived.
You are not understanding the biblical narrative. Being reconciled to God is not just about salvation...its about an intimate relationship with God. if you think you can have that kind of relationship with God without holiness, obedience, devotion and a full surrender of the carnal mindset...then it is you who is deceived.
Why is this so? It is so, because we have ALREADY been reconciled unto God by Jesus Christ. Multitudes are trying to do in their flesh through works, laws and religion what God has ALREADY done in Jesus Christ.
What Jesus accomplished is now made available in Christ. I stress this...IN Christ. Very few will be able to enter into Christ. The way is very narrow indeed.
We have ACCESS into God's marvelous light through Christ.
Does that mean that all who are unable to enter in are doomed to hell? Of course not. There are more possibilities than that amomg the meek, the weak and the rebellious ones.
"God was in Christ reconciling us and the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and has committed unto us the word of reconciliation" 2 Corinthians 5:19.
Before we were ever born Jesus had ALREADY reconciled us and the world unto God.
Historically speaking Jesus had already come. But this is confusing you. You are mimicking the text but without understanding it.
This is the good news of the Gospel. God now stands before us with open arms saying... "Though your sins be as scarlet, they can be as white as snow" Isaiah 1:18. God offers reconciliation to everyone that wants it.
No. To everyone that meets the criteria. God chooses who He will be intimate with...not men. So you are putting yourself in the driver's seat...the very thing you say men can't do.
You say we can't do anything to enter into Christ and His life. Well, we can repent...but we can't translate ourselves into Christ. Only God can accept us and translate us into Himself.
In your scheme you think we have control over God and His benefits by simply naming and claiming. Well, that is a legalistic attitude that does NOT produce a Christ-like walk. That should be obvious. Our destiny is not in our hands to dictate how saved we are or will be.
If you don't want to be reconciled unto God, you don't have to. God is not going to threaten you. It's your choice.
It's God's choice. Our role is to repent, seek, ask and knock. God remains free to respond or not as He deems fit. Remember that God is in control...
not you. (it's hard to do that, I understand)
Those that have rejected God's offer of reconciliation through Jesus Christ and are trying to reconcile themselves to God through works, laws and religion are still enemies with God.
Not so much. If we are not fit for intimacy with God, we can still be saved as a guest in the great wedding feast of the Lamb. You are making things so black and white...in order to prove that you are on the good side and others are on the bad side. God has promised salvation to the meek, the righteous, the broken-hearted. But what does that have to do with us in the spoiled Western world? We either want to be the star in the narrative or nothing at all.
When they die in their sins, they will go into the judgment and be judged and condemned. God has done all that he can do to save us and reconcile us to himself through Jesus Christ. All that we have to do to be saved is to accept our reconciler, who is Jesus Christ and God's offer to be reconciled.
What about the many Christians who believe they are saved but still die in their sins? Don't worry about those who are not of the faith. Instead fear the Lord and depart from evil....whether physical, soulish, or spiritual.
