Each person (church-goer or JW) is different, and reacts different to different things.
I met some of my fellow JW I didn't trust.
As I have many churchites (Heh).

It's what they believe as a GROUP that counts.
And, in all honesty, the JWs are the closest to God and Christ.
(And that, at first, was upsetting to me as a Catholic!)

Whether those definitions are correct I haven't checked.
But there are characteristics of religous so called ' christian ' cults that can be seen in the JW as follows:-
Denial of Jesus as God, imposition of another authority ovrer the bible, an exclusive nature all other Christians are wrong/mislead etc leading to isolation from other Christians and from worldly involvement, to be controlling of there members and to major in minor issues.

The JW do all these things.
I agree.

Sadly that wasn’t what was relayed in the testimony of the lady who wrote 35years a watch tower slave. …..now obviously I read that some years ago, it was also someone in the U.K. They gave the impression that you earned points for leaving leaflets, if you were invited in to some ones home, if you brought someone to church ect . This was someone’s testimony. The aim was to climb up the ranks so that you will be included in that number.
Rita
Well, they are wrong. There’s no ‘climbing up the ranks’ to get included in the 144,000.

Those ones are chosen by God… “bought from among mankind” to rule with Christ, as the Bible describes.

We only strive to follow / imitate Christ, and the vast majority wish to live here on Earth, forever. Matthew 5:5; Revelation 21:3,4.

Yeah, they have a few canned speeches, but get outside their prepping, they are totally lost.

My son was telling me tonight of JW visits. Their "bible" has been so munged and altered to fit their religion, that it has little similarity to real Scripture. The fact is, that true Scripture frightens them, and they cannot get away from it quickly enough.

On a recent JW visit, my son called in his 16 year old daughter to see this in action. When he brought in a real Bible, they couldn't get to the door fast enough!!
“they couldn’t get to the door fast enough”?
Come on, we go from door to door, and have no idea who’s on the other side…. You really think we’d be that inept?

Let’s discuss some topics, then.

I can use other Bibles just as well.

I won’t argue Scripture, though. (2 Timothy 2:24) But i will reason, using several scriptures relating to a particular topic.

My SIL tolerated all the vengeance from these God fearing ‘disciplinarians’ he could and sought escape and freedom.
Sorry, but this makes no sense.

I’m guessing you didn’t know him when he was a JW.
Did you?

No, you didn’t know him then; right?
I’m thinking you weren’t informed of the entire story… all the details.
Not sure why it does not make sense to you.
I should have been more clear. It doesn’t make any sense to me based on experience.

That’s because, we don’t harass those who’ve been disfellowshipped. Their own family might, though. But not the congregation.

Disfellowshipping is about attitude, more than anything else.
I’ve known Jehovah’s Witnesses who cheated on their spouse, committed adultery, and weren’t disfellowshipped.
I’ve known others who were caught lying, and they were disfellowshipped … because of their attitude toward the offense!

And many times, the very ones who’ve been D’F’ed, will not own up to the reason they were disfellowshipped, but will later make up other stories like “I didn’t agree with the doctrine anymore.”

They just still have a bad attitude.

I’ve known way too many, even those who are once close friends. Even my first wife. Fortunately, she got reinstated. Many do come back.

Liberty includes don't tread on me. What part of that don't you get?
I get it.
Believe me, we are busy with so many important things (preaching, for one). We simply don’t have the time to harass former members.

Have a good day, my cousin.

I detect a legalistic argument. His family might? They are not supposed to even talk to him.

Regarding harassment, elders came to his work and certain family functions making sure only the right family was at the event.

What? Are you sure?

They don’t believe in the trinity.
Yes, I recall that they do not. In my early experience I also was taught not to believe in the trinity. While I now understand better why people do believe it, I personally remain unconvinced...but this is a subject which we cannot discuss on this forum.

The 144000 the JWs prattle on about haven't yet been chosen by GOD and I'm sure there won't be many if any JWs in the 144,000.
I used to think JWs were just over zealous Christians UNTIL THE DAY I SPOTTED THE SUBLIMINAL BULL IN ONE OF THEIR MAGAZINE ILLUSTRATIONS! Whoa! That stopped me in my tracks and I actually wrote to their HQ saying someone had drawn a bull in the picture! Silly me - as if they didn't know!
Since then I've glanced at their magazines and can generally spot the Baphomets, Pans, demons, beasts they hide in their pictures. The very watchtower image is occult!
The reason for adding the subliminals is that when the magazines are held up the members actually adore it - they worship an idol! Anad tha means they will be destroyed.
Similarly the ordinary JWs are denied the bread and wine contrary to Jesus's teaching.
The lower orders are just brainwashed people who because of the ban on watching tv or reading 'worldly' media never hear about the sins - adulteries and pedophilia - of the JW elders or the fact the founder was a Freemason who like all higher freemasons and Shriners actually worship Baphomet aka Satan.
JWS being led by Satan are as devious as he is.

Yeah, I once saw Ronald Reagan’s face in a potato chip. Then I saw Donald Trump’s. Same potato-chip company!

It must have been Republican-owned.
