Agree. The #1 characteristic of a cult is the denial of Jesus as God.
Well, that is a made up definition inconsistent with the OP.

I do not believe that groups believe. Each person (church-goer or JW) is different, and reacts different to different things.
I met some of my fellow JW I didn't trust.
As I have many churchites (Heh).
It's what they believe as a GROUP that counts.
And, in all honesty, the JWs are the closest to God and Christ.
(And that, at first, was upsetting to me as a Catholic!)
I agree.Whether those definitions are correct I haven't checked.
But there are characteristics of religous so called ' christian ' cults that can be seen in the JW as follows:-
Denial of Jesus as God, imposition of another authority ovrer the bible, an exclusive nature all other Christians are wrong/mislead etc leading to isolation from other Christians and from worldly involvement, to be controlling of there members and to major in minor issues.
The JW do all these things.
Well, they are wrong. There’s no ‘climbing up the ranks’ to get included in the 144,000.Sadly that wasn’t what was relayed in the testimony of the lady who wrote 35years a watch tower slave. …..now obviously I read that some years ago, it was also someone in the U.K. They gave the impression that you earned points for leaving leaflets, if you were invited in to some ones home, if you brought someone to church ect . This was someone’s testimony. The aim was to climb up the ranks so that you will be included in that number.

“they couldn’t get to the door fast enough”?Yeah, they have a few canned speeches, but get outside their prepping, they are totally lost.
My son was telling me tonight of JW visits. Their "bible" has been so munged and altered to fit their religion, that it has little similarity to real Scripture. The fact is, that true Scripture frightens them, and they cannot get away from it quickly enough.
On a recent JW visit, my son called in his 16 year old daughter to see this in action. When he brought in a real Bible, they couldn't get to the door fast enough!!
Sorry, but this makes no sense. My SIL tolerated all the vengeance from these God fearing ‘disciplinarians’ he could and sought escape and freedom.
What? Are you sure?Other than that, and few other minor [to me] details, I agreed with much of what they [Christadephians] believed.
No. Not sure why it does not make sense to you. Liberty includes don't tread on me. What part of that don't you get?Sorry, but this makes no sense.
I’m guessing you didn’t know him when he was a JW.
Did you?
No, you didn’t know him then; right?
I should have been more clear. It doesn’t make any sense to me based on experience. Not sure why it does not make sense to you.
I get it.Liberty includes don't tread on me. What part of that don't you get?
I detect a legalistic argument. His family might? They are not supposed to even talk to him. That’s because, we don’t harass those who’ve been disfellowshipped. Their own family might, though. But not the congregation.
Yes, I recall that they do not. In my early experience I also was taught not to believe in the trinity. While I now understand better why people do believe it, I personally remain unconvinced...but this is a subject which we cannot discuss on this forum. What? Are you sure?
They don’t believe in the trinity.
Yeah, I once saw Ronald Reagan’s face in a potato chip. Then I saw Donald Trump’s. Same potato-chip company!UNTIL THE DAY I SPOTTED THE SUBLIMINAL BULL IN ONE OF THEIR MAGAZINE ILLUSTRATIONS! Whoa! That stopped me in my tracks and I actually wrote to their HQ saying someone had drawn a bull in the picture! Silly me - as if they didn't know!
Since then I've glanced at their magazines and can generally spot the Baphomets, Pans, demons, beasts they hide in their pictures.
