If we know that a glass of water has a few drops of poison in it, would we still drink it?
What does it mean, ‘not to mix holy with unholy practices’?
What did the Apostle Paul say about that?
2 Cor 6:14-18…
“Do not become unevenly yoked with unbelievers. For what fellowship do righteousness and lawlessness have? Or what sharing does light have with darkness? 15 Further, what harmony is there between Christ and Beʹli·al? Or what does a believer share in common with an unbeliever? 16 And what agreement does God’s temple have with idols? For we are a temple of a living God; just as God said: “I will reside among them and walk among them, and I will be their God, and they will be my people.” 17 “‘Therefore, get out from among them, and separate yourselves,’ says Jehovah, ‘and quit touching the unclean thing’”; “‘and I will take you in.’” 18 “‘And I will become a father to you, and you will become sons and daughters to me,’ says Jehovah, the Almighty.”
What part of “separate yourselves” and “quit touching the unclean thing” do we not understand?
If pagan practices were carried over by the gentiles when they became Christians, then they never were “Christians” in the first place. Whether Jew or gentile, nothing of pagan origin had a place in the worship of the true God…..so adopting pagan celebrations and calling them something else, didn‘t “Christianized the paganism….it “paganized“ the Christianity.
If something was “unclean” to God, either spiritually, physically or morally, it was to be rejected outright!
Celebrating those things, which retained all the customs of the original but just changing the name and application loosely in Scripture, and then pretending that this somehow conquered the evil in it, is a grave mistake…..we are told to “conquer the evil with the good”, so how do we conquer the enemy if we instead make friends with him and adopt his practices under another name? The enemy is simply disguised.
Justification is the problem……and no one seems to wonder why Christians couldn’t have their own celebrations….why was there a need to adopt what God hated.…in any manner, shape or form? Has no one ever wondered about that?
You do realize that the churches will remain silent about these things because the two biggest celebrations in Christendom are also their biggest money spinners…..no one is going to sacrifice that cash cow….and besides, with a dying church system all over the world, things are ripe for religion to go down altogether. “Babylon the great” will be destroyed at God’s command, because this “harlot” is “in bed” with God’s enemies. (Rev 18:4-5)
What the people celebrate these days is so far removed from what they claim….that most children have no idea that their favorite holiday (holy day) times are even supposed to be religious. Even the secular world celebrates them and enjoys their commercial benefits…no religious connotations are needed to make a profit.…but it helps to cater to all tastes.
No sooner are the supermarket shelves stocked with the trappings of one celebration, than they are restocked with the next one……Christmas, Valentines Day, Easter, Halloween, New Year's Day…all staged with their own emblems and traditions, signifying their pagan roots.
We might approve of those things, but would God approve of them?
