On what grounds? Bible truth or Catholic beliefs? Big difference.

Big Difference....!!
Teach continue to SIN while HOPING to become saved<— Catholic teaching.
Teach FREED from SIN and ARE saved. <— Scriptural Protestant teaching.

There is a continual Teaching to INVITE people to come and HEAR Gods word.
There is always a DILEMMA of HOW TO interest people to ACCEPT the INVITE.

The endless works of men, is HOW TO get people to ACCEPT the INVITE.
.....ENDLESS “cons”!
.....From: you perpetually SIN and ONLY can be Forgiven by a Priest..
.....To: we will preach WHAT you WANT to Hear...
.....Ding, Ding, Ding....Gotcha in the building...Gods watching deposit your $.

The Biblical Basis for Catholic Distinctives
OP ^

Hangs on recognizable DIVISIONS God and Christ Jesus BOTH Scripturally Revealed.

OT men WITH God, who CONTINUED WITH God, were promised and received their Salvation at the time of their BODILY Death.

NT men WITH Christ Jesus, who CONTINUE WITH Christ Jesus, were promised they WOULD receive their Salvation at the time of their BODILY Death.
(CAVEAT.....must endure; ie continue to their bodily death)
Widely accepted Catholic Distinctive’s .... ^^ keep sinning, keep hoping to become saved.

NT men (and to This day) IN Christ Jesus, HAVE FREELY repented for having HAD DISBELIEF, HAVE FREELY given their bodily LIFE crucified with Jesus, HAVE FREELY given their soul to be RESTORED by Christ, HAVE FREELY given their natural spirit to be BORN AGAIN by Gods seed.....
ARE FAITHFULLY KEPT, by the POWER OF GOD “IN” THEM.
Accomplished......FINISHED!
Widely accepted Protestant Difference’s ^^ freed from sin, salvation now.

(1) Does God allow our deceased loved ones to monitor our progress here on earth?
No.
(2) If so, do they still pray for us as they did during their earthly existence?
They did?
(3) If Christ's role as our heavenl Intercessor and Advocate does not eliminate our need to pray for each other, why would it eliminate the need to seek prayer support from deceased saints?
Because they're dead.

(4) Is it possible that great saints now in Christ's presence have a deep faith to effectively petition God on our behalf
No.

BOTH.

They invented doctrines based on their own preferences and NOT what the Church had been teaching for 1500 years. Sola Scriptura, Sola Fide, Irresistable Grace, Perspecuity of Scriptutre, Eternal Security, Limited Atonement, and on and on . . .

They changed the OT Canon of Scripture - and even debated removing several NT Books until cooler heads prevailed.

It was the doctrinal "Wild West" of Church history..

Begin with a lie, end with a lie. Only Jesus appointed Apostles.
Pathetic how you pick and choose what you want from what Jesus said - but you completely ignore some of the other things He told His inncer curcle when He gave them SUPREME earthly Authority over His Church.
Pay close attention to the word, "WHATEVER" . . .

Matt 16:16-19

I will give you the keys to the kingdom of heaven. WHATEVER YOU BIND on earth shall be bound in heaven; and WHATEVER YOU LOOSE on earth shall be loosed in heaven."

Matt. 18:15-18
Amen, I say to you, WHATEVER YOU BIND on earth shall be bound in heaven, and WHATEVER YOU LOOSE on earth shall be loosed in heaven.

John 16:12-15
“I have much more to tell you, but you cannot bear it now.
But when he comes, the Spirit of truth,
he will guide you to ALL truth. He will not speak on his own, but he will speak what he hears, and will declare to YOU the things that are coming.
He will glorify me, because
he will TAKE from what is MINE and declare it to YOU.
Everything that the Father has is MINE; for this reason I told you that he will TAKE from what is MINE and declare it to YOU.

John 20:21-23
Jesus said to them again, “Peace be with you. As the Father has sent ME, so I send YOU.” And when he had said this, he breathed on them and said to them, “Receive the holy Spirit. Whose sins YOU FORGIVE are forgiven them, and whose sins YOU RETAIN are retained.”

Luke 10:16
Whoever listens to YOU listens to ME. Whoever rejects YOU rejects ME. And whoever rejects ME rejects the ONE who sent ME."

Error again.
The MADE perfect IN Christ...is anyone bodily alive or bodily dead IN Christ!
Did you miss the COMPLETE purpose of the New Testament?
If you don't think you need sanctification - then you are saying that the Scriptures are a lie (1 Cor. 1:8, 2 Cor. 2:15, 7:1, Phil. 2:12, Heb 12:14).

Good luck with that . . .

Why do you make so many FALSE statements? False.
You still have NOT learned HOW TO RIGHTLY DIVIDE THE WORD OF TRUTH.
YOU ARE a WORK IN PROGRESS.
YOU admit it, I recognize it.
YOU and I are DIVIDED.
I AM ALREADY SANCTIFIED.
YOU are HOPING to BECOME SANCTIFIED.

YOU DESPERATELY TRY to bring the Sanctified DOWN to your LEVEL.
YOUR efforts ARE A FAIL.
And YOU don't understand OR agree with virtually ALL or your Protestant scholars who agree that sanctification is a LIFELONG process

Here is a plaijn and simple example, so that you may understand . . .
- I already ate breakfase today (sanctified).
- I STILL need to keep eat AFTER this or I will die (ongoing sanctification).

There ends the lesson.

Pathetic every time you speak for others! Picking and choosing is in regard to which APPLIES !

but you completely
ignore some of the other things He told His inncer curcle when He gave them SUPREME earthly Authority over His Church.

Jesus Authorized His Apostles. No one said anything different.

If you don't think you need sanctification -

What utter nonsense. I have said no such thing! And much as you pretend to be psychic....you do not know my thoughts!

LOL....duh. Did you miss the entire NT?
Men Converted IN Christ ARE SANCTIFIED!

“MY Protestant scholars”.....LOL who would that be? Fill me in mindreader!! LOL

Yep....YOUR lesson....all about a CARNAL MAN, fully relying on yourself!!

* And here is the Scriptural Lesson:
- I freely chose to submit my life unto the Lord.
The Lord Sanctified
me The Lord Keeps me. !!!

And by the way...eating your breakfast is satisfying your hunger.
It sanctifies nothing.

However the lesson stands...If you are on your own, you are on your own...
If the Lord is WITH you, you might continue to your death, and then be saved or you might fall away and not be saved.
If the Lord is IN you, you ARE Saved and kept by His Power.

Sanctified is being SET APART, Holy unto the Lord!
It applies to men IN Christ. Period.

Actually what happened is the Catholic Church was CHALLENGED for their corrupt ACTS because of the Church leaders GREED....early 1500’s.

The Catholic Churches RESPONSE? We are innocent, you challenger are excommunicated. Nothing new when the hand of power has a FIXED AGENDA that relieves them from punishment. Our own Federal government does the same all day long. Murder, steal, spy, and hide behind their “black ops, top secret, classified, BS”. The Pharisees did the same thing in their day, and Jesus called them out.

You consistently swing the banner of the Long historical Catholic brotherhood AS IF it is to be exalted for it’s lengthy History. The Catholic Church is not without a Long history of Scandals and Underhanded behaviors, even to this day.
It’s not a secret the majority of the common people could not read, did not have access to Scriptures for centuries.
It is not a secret many in this day Can read, Do own Bibles, and FEW read them, and FEWER understand the knowledge in Scriptures.
It is not secret mid 1500’s Catholics began writing the Catechism. A companion book to the Bible....and teaching Manuel....with hundreds of revisions and changes over the years. Funny since the Bible has not changed, but what is taught Catholics changes. No splintering within the Catholic Church teaching....!! Ha.

Your constant over the top anti-Scripture rhetoric is old and boring.
Any serious student of Scripture already knows your preconceived notions are steeped in man made catechism that overreaches what Scripture teaches and your only defense is gaslighting and name calling. Too bad how that reflects poorly on Catholics IN Christ.

ALL of the Apostles's offices were successive.
The thing is . . . show that in the Bible. Jesus chose His Apostles. The apostles didn't chose anyone. Matthias was selected by lot. Let another take "HIS" office. Not blanket instruction, first Peter, then he appoints another, who appoints another. This was a one time prophesied and fulfilled event.

Much love!

Berserk: "as a lifelong evangelical, I realize that. practically speaking, regular soul-searching with a view to confession is a relatively low priority.

Duh, where do I comment on YOU specifically?

No worries . . . allow me to backtrack . . . "a relatively low priority" for whom did you mean? IF not me?

Much love!

Most evangelicals view forgiveness solely as a direct transaction between the confessing believer and God with no human mediation. So they freeze like Bambi in the headlights when confronted by Jesus' teaching that church leaders must play an active role in mediating divine forgiveness:
There is one mediator between God and mam, the man, Christ Jesus.

We don’t have, or need, Mary, or some priest as our medator.

No scripture says that whatever sins you forgive anyone for, on the behalf of God, are forgiven by God.

Scripture says God is not mocked, for you reap what you sow - if you sow a sinful Life you reap destruction.

Having a priest claiming to forgive unrepentant sinners on behalf of God, is mocking Him.

Unless repentance is real, God won’t forgive our sins when we ask Him for forgiveness.

In the Roman Catholic error, a man who is not sincere about his repentance, who in fact is going to keep on committing a sin, such as adultery with his mistress, is told by a priest his sins are forgiven, when thy absolutely are not.

Only God knows if repentance is real and is sincere.

Lots of Catholics will split hell wide open when they die, because they thought confession to a priest was their loophole that let them sin all they want Monday through Saturday, and have it forgiven in the confessional on Sunday - because they were lied to.

That’s one reason why so many in the mob are Catholic- kill a man on Friday and it’s forgiven on Sunday, without true repentance. Then repeat as they kill again.

Or so they think.

Right Jesus authoeirized His Apostles - that WHATEVER THEY declared would ALSO be declared in Heaven because they would be guided by the Holy Spirit to ALL Truth (John 16:12-15).
So THEY declared that their successors would have the SAME Authority because Jesus said, "WHATEVER".

WHY do you thin that they felt that THEY had the Authority to choose a successor for Judas's office (Acts 1:20)?

Can YOU show me a SINGLE verse from the Gospels where Jesus gave the the Authroty to choose successors and pass on the Authority HE gave them?
NO? Then WHY did they do it for Judas?

Stop rejecting God's Word.

Agree Jesus chose His Apostles.
However the Apostles did have men that were “disciples” traveling with them, helping them.

In other word - you don't have a CLUE as to why your Protestant Fathers ionvented heretical doctrines like Sola Scriptura, Sola Fide, Irresistable Grace, Perspecuity of Scriptutre, Eternal Security, Limited Atonement, and others.

That's what I thought . . .

Show me where Jesus gave them permission to do this.

Chapter and Verse, please.

Hint: - I've already shown you the verses SEVEERAL times.

Yes, that's true. Were they shown to be "successors"?
