No keeping it within the context of the whole text. The problem is with this type of usage of the scripture , they can take each phrase or scripture and isolate it apart from the context that it is written , as if it can be used like a magic incantation to say anything they want it to. This is how individuals have concocted the prosperity gospel & the healing gospel. The "name it and claim it gospel".
One instance of prosperity doctrine in the Bible is taught very clearly when you read 2 Corinthians 9:6 in its immediate context; while the more orthodox interpretation of that verse will come about when you compare it to Luke 8:11, utilizing the biblical hermeneutic of 1 Corinthians 2:13.

Yes, this is what it is. He used to do this in ignorance, but at this point he's been warned enough and is without excuse. He and his teachings are to be rejected.
Again, it seems to me that you want me to just take your word for it, and not to be a Berean (Acts 17:10-11) about what you lay forth.

The fact that I see the plain meaning of 1 Corinthians 2:13 and the hermeneutic that it teaches us to use, and you don't, is the reason why your "warnings" have not been heeded by me. Because the holy scripture teaches me not to obey your "warnings" which are not founded in scriptural truth.

Folks...are you getting the irony here? That those who are speaking against the Spirit (meaning against God) and yet call themselves "Christian", are speaking out against those who honor and recognize the Spirit to be God and that He is alive and active in the lives of real Christians?

Such is the spirit of anti-Christ.
We are speaking against the spirits-----small "s" . Like false gods, spelled with a small "g". They are counterfeit to the Holy Spirit.
These deceiving spirits that masquerade as the Holy Spirit. They give false messages to individuals.
The deceiving spirits persuade people they are sent from God, and because of the sin of human pride , some fall for it, because these deceiving spirits telling them they are chosen to give a special message.

Your words are words of religious men, hypocrites who preach against the Spirit, as it is so painfully obvious here within these many pages. And this you do in unholy psychological projections while accusing others of doing the very counterfeiting you yourselves are guilty of.

But you have not deceived all, but have already failed the test of spirits here in these pages (Post #202) for all to see and witness. 1 John 4:1

No, that is totally false.

By considering that all spiritual activity is "spiritual wickedness", you have adjusted your beliefs to silence God and aid the devil. The "light in you is darkness", of which He gave warning. God is spirit, and you have decided to turn a deaf ear to Him. You have closed the door to Him, and therefore He will not "come in to you and dine with you", which is to say, He will not come in and partake with you in spirit.
Hello @ScottA,

You must think of me what you will. God knows my heart and He alone is my judge. You are wrong in your assessment.

Such is the spirit of anti-Christ.
No one is speaking against the Spirit.
Everyone is posting against your misguided posts.

Yes, indeed...fear is of the unknown.

Your statement: "...fear is of the unknown."
Is this the 'Word of God', just like the Scriptures? Or, are any of your words equal to the Scriptures?
I'm asking, in keeping with the subject of the thread that "Scripture is not the last word".

Hi @farouk,

Yes, God speaks to us, through His Word, and not apart from it. :)

Now, granted, Revelation 1:11 is found within God's word...

However, up to that point, God's word had said nothing of the sort...

And I would say that the words that come straight from the mouth of Jesus are God's word whether they are written down on paper or not.

All truth is from God, and he who fears has not been made perfect in love.

'Saying, I am Alpha and Omega, the first and the last:
and, What thou seest, write in a book,
and send it unto the seven churches which are in Asia;
unto Ephesus, and unto Smyrna, and unto Pergamos,
and unto Thyatira, and unto Sardis,
and unto Philadelphia, and unto Laodicea.'

(Revelation 1:11)

Hi @justbyfaith,

Yes, this is part of God's Word written. Praise God!
Destined for inclusion in the written Scriptures. The sum of all revelation.

* Are you suggesting that individuals are receiving revelation from God today, which supercedes what is written? Which should be treated as being as authoritative as the Scriptures themselves?

I hope not.
In Christ Jesus
Chris

We often hear that the test of any comment or doctrine is scripture, and certainly it is a good test. It's just not the last word, nor is it the best test. Nor should it be considered our last line of defense. To do so, is to admit that we do not understand where we are in God's master plan of revelation, and that we do not have the Holy Spirit leading us unto all truth.

If we are under the impression that the scriptures are the final authority, the tie-breaker during these days...we are behind the times. Jesus made it clear that His "words are spirit." Moreover, by walking out the scriptures that were written of Him - He was put to death. You could say, what He did [by the word] according to the scriptures, was all that was humanly possible. For if a perfect Christ could not do perfectly according to the scriptures without being killed for it - there is nothing more or better that can be done. But, He did not leave it there.

Jesus told us exactly what the next phase was to be during these times - and it was not that we should keep referring back to the scriptures as the final say. No, after doing all that was humanly possible - in other words, by word, and by the scriptures - He very specifically stated that His last words would come as follows:

John 16:13
"However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come."

Likewise, the apostle Paul wrote:

Hebrews 6:1-2
"Therefore, leaving the discussion of the elementary principles of Christ, let us go on to perfection, not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works and of faith toward God, of the doctrine of baptisms, of laying on of hands, of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment."

Therefore, the scriptures, yes, even the elementary principles of Christ...once they are elementary to our learning - are to be "left" behind, that we may go on to "perfection"...which comes by "the Spirit of truth", or not at all.

So...as we enter into discussion here, please know that the scriptures only go so far in determining "all truth" and the last word.

I don't know about this. Too many people have said, hey I know what I said is true cause I have the Holy Spirit of God and his Spirit has told me the truth. The fact that he may be saying something contrary to scripture doesn't matter cause he says he is simply being guided by God in more truth concerning whatever subject. To me, this just sounds like imperfect humans trying to get you to worship them instead of the one who had the scriptures written. They try to get you to listen to them instead of the scriptures, didn't the Pharisees do that? I honestly believe the scriptures is all you need to be a complete servant of God and those who reason any way against that I'll disagree with. It's my opinion, but I honestly believe scripture should have the final say, they are from God, not imperfect humans, it's too easy for someone to say they have God Holy Spirit and that you should listen to them instead of the scriptures.

Ironically, no once again, the Pharasees were MORE like yourself in their demeaners & thinking THEY spoke For GOD . Like you, they were reinterpreting the scriptures how they wanted and creating THEIR OWN religious traditions and rules in the synagogues and thinking they were the ONLY ones who were holy and powerful. Similar Like claiming to speak for the Holy Spirit.
I also notice in your posts the tendency to character assassinate, give people negative labels , and name call.
While those who oppose your misrepresentations of scriptures-- just try to correct with scripture, & to criticize your spiritual viewpoints, the misuse of scriptures, and your spiritual ideas you keep trying to teach.
We faithfully stand by what the Bible teaches and we don't pull out scriptures out of context or want to be teachers or prophets.
You just can't seem to just back up your opinions with scripture only and we've even seen you spiritually threaten a number of times, like you consider yourself to have equal authority to the Apostles. That also is a misuse of scripture.

No, the Pharisees' error was they believed "the scriptures is all you need to be a complete servant of God", instead of believing in the Spirit that inspired the scriptures.

And here we go again.

More psycho' projections from the blind in spirit.

Meanwhile, I glorify the Spirit, and you tear down "what the spirit says to the churches."
