I know Adventists can't see that, and I was raised SDA, and love them still, and wouldn't have wanted to been raised in any other denomination for knowledge. But, I never learned about the power of the Holy Spirit in that denomination, so I can imagine it is not something you can accept, but it is the difference between night and day and why I never had one prayer answered in all my life as SDA, but now ALL my prayers are answered. Why? Relationship.

But I still respect SDA people because you are not lawless, making the grace of God perverted. And you love Jesus. And I've known one Spirit-filled SDA preacher who was also gifted! So I believe God honors the passion for God's law that SDA's have. But I prefer the deeper relationship I have with God through the Spirit so will never go back to the letter of the law.

What we have in common is we are both against the false teaching of lawlessness.

I'm certain that God does not give his Spirit according to the associations had and the clubs joined. I also don't think God's Spirit can be dictated to.....when to come, when not to come.
There is a phenomena that is a counterfeit of God's Spirit.....it is one called up at mans bidding no different to occult manifestations. It pervades various gatherings and is rapidly finding favour in the Churches who deem it to be of God.
I have found this spirit one of self focus and prejudice.....the deciding factor for those involved is their experience of the other worldly kind.....the scriptures take a back seat to personal experience.......they are interpreted through subjective experience.

It actually is real and scriptural, whereas staying with the Old Covenant laws is not. With the Spirit I can treat you with love and honor, but like many non-Spirit-filled Christians who remain under the law, you cannot.

Your issue CL is that you think I'm locked into 'Old Covenant' and you assume that by being 'Spirit filled' you have an advantage.....is this not the case?

I would like to say, being jealous for God's Ten Commandments is not Old Covenant.....you have this wrong.
Being willing to do as Jesus did ie, obey his Father, constitutes having the Spirit. This is the only thing that cannot be faked. Miracles, tongues and any manifestation of the supernatural can all be counterfeited but having the mindset of Jesus, ie to obey his Father and direct others to obedience is the epitome of love.

When the rich young ruler ask Jesus what he must do to inherit eternal life, what words did Jesus use in his answer?....did he say 'get Spirit filled'?.....did he say 'go and love everyone'?....no, in this exchange his words were to keep the commandments.....and which ones were they?....the record tells us....don't kill don't steal, don't commit adultery, honour your Mother and Father .....they are none other than the Ten C's

What is it you don't like about the Ten Commandments CL that you want to dismiss them? What is it that makes you think that 'Spirit filled' dismisses the Commandments?.....and finally, what is it that make you think that loving God and others has nothing to do these very Commandments?

.no, in this exchange his words were to keep the commandments.....and which ones were they?

Joh 13:34 A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another.
Joh 13:35 By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.

And what has that to do with your purist of favoritism by the law, which does nothing for anyone. It is faith that pleases God,

Gal_3:12 And the law is not of faith: but, The man that doeth them shall live in them.

Heb_11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

your shooting from the hip mjrhealth misses the mark. You need to go back and familiarise yourself with the story of the rich young ruler before you pull the trigger.

Simple as you put it, you follow Him. Teh bible isnt Jesus,
Jesus is the Word of God.
Scripture is the word of God.

You may notice the connection. God created everything through words, He spoke and it came into being.

At a fundamental level you are wrong, completely wrong. Jesus is scripture. And we worship the Father.

Yes many raised the dead letter to a higher status to the Living Word Jesus Christ. That is an Idol.

Joh_5:40 And ye will not come to me, that ye might have life.

Nah saw that barn door years ago, its not so hard to miss, but its kept so many from Christ. You can only have one master, is it your rel;igion or Christ, you cannot serve them both.

No mjrh, contrary to what you claim, you didn't even see the barn doors.....if you had done you wouldn't have given me the reply you did. As I see it, your attempt to bluff your way through only weakens your already weak attempt at persuasion.
Self honesty please......if that is on your horizon!

Joh_5:40 And ye will not come to me, that ye might have life.

How can you derive the idea that scripture is in conflict with Jesus?
The work in our hearts is when we oppose the word of God.

12 For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double--edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.
Heb 4:12

Scripture itself describes itself as living and active, which contradicts your idea of the dead letter.

2 You yourselves are our letter, written on our hearts, known and read by everybody.
3 You show that you are a letter from Christ, the result of our ministry, written not with ink but with the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone but on tablets of human hearts.
4 Such confidence as this is ours through Christ before God.
5 Not that we are competent in ourselves to claim anything for ourselves, but our competence comes from God.
2 Cor 3:2-5

We are a letter from Christ, conformed to His image. I wish you found this reality in your life, but clearly the word of God causes you serious problems, so you describe Gods word, the source of our life, as a dead letter.
A letter is only dead if what it describes is not the life one knows or possess. I pray that you might know this life that comes from the Word of God, Jesus, God bless you

Yet you dont believe those who have, because you havnt they and dont fit into your "beliefs",

My friend, again you attempt to tell me I am not listening to Jesus. Do you know the word of God?
To you Gods words are a dead letter. All I can say is God bless you, I hope one day you will open up to the living God.

Jesus quotes Gods dead letter
3 "man does not live on bread alone but on every word that comes from the mouth of the LORD."
Deut 8:3

4 It is written: 'Man does not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.'
Matt 4:4

All of the christian faith is founded on Gods word, it is the rock, Jesus, upon which everything else hangs.
So vast and over such a long time has Gods word come down to us, we should stand in awe and wonder at such a work, from the bronze age into the iron age, and now into the 21st century and still it speaks life, love and salvation. Amen, thank you Jesus.

The commandments of Jesus are deeper than the surface commandments of the Old Testament of Exodus 20 that you keep. The commandments I keep are the Ten Commandments on steroids! You can't keep them with your flesh. To actually be righteous and holy, you need His Spirit to empower you. Besides the commandments, what else did Jesus say besides the commandments that turned the rich young ruler away because he couldn't keep it?

You say that the Ten Commandments in Exodus 20 are surface Commandments.....that cannot be further from the truth CL.; it is a statement drawn from your imagination in an attempt to minimise God's ten words. If this were not the case you would exalt them as did David in the Psalms and all the Prophets.

Jesus made the depth of the Commandments clear in these words:-

'You have heard that it was said to those of old, ‘You shall not murder, and whoever murders will be in danger of the judgment.’ But I say to you that whoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment. And whoever says to his brother, ‘Raca!' shall be in danger of the council. But whoever says, ‘You fool!’ shall be in danger of hell fire. Therefore if you bring your gift to the altar, and there remember that your brother has something against you, leave your gift there before the altar, and go your way. First be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift.' Matthew 5:21-24

'You have heard that it was said to those of old, ‘You shall not commit adultery' but I say to you that whoever looks at a woman to lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart. If your right eye causes you to sin, pluck it out and cast it from you; for it is more profitable for you that one of your members perish, than for your whole body to be cast into hell. And if your right hand causes you to sin, cut it off and cast it from you; for it is more profitable for you that one of your members perish, than for your whole body to be cast into hell.' Matthew 5:27-30

Regarding what else Jesus said to the rich young ruler......he addressed the 10th Commandment of not coveting.

I will ask again.....which of the Commandments is it you think are weak (surface) and do not like?
