Scripture must harmonize with Scripture before reaching a conclusion on doctrine. Notice in 1 John 2:19 - ..for if they had been of us, they would have continued with us.. Not might have but would have. In Psalm 37:28, we read - For the Lord loves justice and does not forsake His saints; They are preserved forever, But the descendants of the wicked shall be cut off. How long is forever? In Jude 1:1, we read - Jude, a bondservant of Jesus Christ, and brother of James, to those who are called, sanctified by God the Father, and preserved in Jesus Christ. In regard to being sanctified, in Hebrews 10:10, we read - By that will we have been sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all. In Hebrews 10:14, we read - For by one offering he has perfected forever those who are sanctified.
In John 10:27-28, we read - My sheep hear My voice, (not some of them hear His voice and some of them don't hear His voice) and I know them, (not some of them He knows and some of them He doesn't know) and they follow Me. (not some of them follow Him and some of them don't follow Him) And I give them eternal life, (not some of them He gives eternal life and some of them He doesn't give eternal life) and they shall never perish; (not some of them will never perish and some of them will perish) neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand. (not some of them will never be snatched out of His hand and some of them will be snatched out of His hand) His sheep have eternal security. In CONTRAST with those do not believe and are not His sheep. (John 10:25-26)
In Romans 8:30, we read - Moreover, whom He predestined, these He also called; whom He called, these He also justified; and whom He justified, these He also glorified. *ALL of them. Paul uses the past tense for a future event to stress its certainty.
In Ephesians 1:13-14, we read - In Him you also trusted, after you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation; in whom also, having believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise, who is the guarantee of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, to the praise of His glory. In 2 Corinthians 1:22, we read - who also has sealed us and given us the Spirit in our hearts as a guarantee. In 2 Corinthians 5:5, we read - Now He who has prepared us for this very thing is God, who also has given us the Spirit as a guarantee. In Ephesians 4:30, we read - sealed unto/for the day of redemption.
That is enough verses to suffice. Now if you still choose to reject the truth and walk away and remain on that roller coaster ride of fear and bondage to insecurity (the same roller coaster ride of fear and bondage to insecurity that I got off of upon my conversion when I left the Roman Catholic church several years ago) then that is your choice. As for me I will NEVER get back on the roller coaster ride! I have found that ALL false religions and cults that promote salvation by works strongly oppose OSAS which certainly is a major red flag for me.
And this too.
And only the elect of God whom HE chose, have faith
Now to him who works, the wages are not counted [
c]as grace but as debt.
And we are saved by grace through faith not of ourselves being the gift of God.
Greeting
1 Paul, a bondservant of God and an apostle of Jesus Christ,
according to the faith of God’s elect and the acknowledgment of the truth which accords with godliness, 2 in hope of eternal life which God, who cannot lie, promised before time began, 3 but has in due time manifested His word through preaching, which was committed to me according to the commandment of God our Savior;
Romans 4
1 What then shall we say that Abraham our father[
a] has found according to the flesh? 2 For if Abraham was justified by works, he has
something to boast about, but not before God. 3 For what does the Scripture say? “Abraham believed God, and it was [
b]accounted to him for righteousness.” 4
Now to him who works, the wages are not counted [c]as grace but as debt.
David Celebrates the Same Truth
5
But to him who does not work but believes on Him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is accounted for righteousness, 6 just as David also describes the blessedness of the man to whom God imputes righteousness apart from works:
7 “Blessed are those whose lawless deeds are forgiven,
And whose sins are covered;
8 Blessed is the man to whom the Lord shall not impute sin.”
Abraham Justified Before Circumcision
9
Does this blessedness then
come upon the circumcised
only, or upon the uncircumcised also? For we say that faith was accounted to Abraham for righteousness. 10 How then was it accounted? While he was circumcised, or uncircumcised? Not while circumcised, but while uncircumcised. 11 And he received the sign of circumcision, a seal of the righteousness of the faith which
he had while still uncircumcised, that he might be the father of all those who believe, though they are uncircumcised, that righteousness might be imputed to them also, 12 and the father of circumcision to those who not only
are of the circumcision, but who also walk in the steps of the faith which our father Abraham
had while still uncircumcised.
The Promise Granted Through Faith
13 For the promise that he would be the heir of the world
was not to Abraham or to his seed through the law, but through the righteousness of faith. 14 For if those who are of the law
are heirs, faith is made void and the promise made of no effect, 15 because the law brings about wrath; for where there is no law
there is no transgression.
16 Therefore
it is of faith that
it might be according to grace, so that the promise might be [
d]sure to all the seed, not only to those who are of the law, but also to those who are of the faith of Abraham, who is the father of us all 17 (as it is written, “I have made you a father of many nations”) in the presence of Him whom he believed—God, who gives life to the dead and calls those things which do not exist as though they did; 18 who, contrary to hope, in hope believed, so that he became the father of many nations, according to what was spoken, “So shall your descendants be.” 19 And not being weak in faith, he did not consider his own body, already dead (since he was about a hundred years old), and the deadness of Sarah’s womb. 20 He did not waver at the promise of God through unbelief, but was strengthened in faith, giving glory to God, 21 and being fully convinced that what He had promised He was also able to perform. 22 And therefore “it was accounted to him for righteousness.”
23 Now it was not written for his sake alone that it was imputed to him, 24 but also for us. It shall be imputed to us who believe in Him who raised up Jesus our Lord from the dead, 25 who was delivered up because of our offenses, and was raised because of our justification.
