Let me rephrase.....Jesus said “ whoever LOOKS at a woman with Lust has already committed Adultery with her in his heart.....”
To “ look” is a sin....to “retain” just makes it worse....

He's talking about Discipleship and Fruit bearing.

James is talking to a group of them.. in your verse, and in others.
And says....... "Not by faith alone"....
= You have to do something with your faith, you have to USE IT.......

And regarding Salvation...... its not faith that saves you....its God.
And we know that James understands that "deeds" do not justify you before God, as deeds are works, and "Justification by Faith, without works", is the Gospel.
So, he's not contradicting Paul's Gospel, you are just misunderstanding your verse.

So, James is talking about bearing fruit...... in front of people.

And by the way..... as i told you, All heretics live in Hebrews, James, and Matthew.

"i will show YOU my faith by my works"........
Those are the DEEDS he is talking about.
See that? That is the context

James says, i will show YOU YOU YOU YOU..........not God.....but YOU>.....the people, the watchers.

Jews who are not born again, that were "broken off" is not a good verse to try to use that you can lose your salvation.

What we do with that, is our discipleship.
Our discipleship is not our Salvation, ......its only what we do, because we are already SAVED, or born again.

One of the typical heresies that is taught everywhere, is that Salvation is only as good as your Discipleship.

And that's a lie when its taught, that comes from a total misunderstanding regarding the distinction between God the SAVIOR who SAVED YOU, and you the disciple who is SAVED once and for all...... and are now learning how to walk the walk of discipleship.
(work out your salvation).

Many many believers, confuse GOD 's Salvation with their discipleship.

Its like this....

SALVATION is what God provides = as Jesus on the Cross and the Blood that REDEEMS us.

Discipleship is =what we do as a lifestyle after being made righteous by GOD, through the blood of Jesus.
