Do you remember the adage, those who don't learn from history are doomed to repeat it? There have been several times in history, going back many centuries to more modern times, when the beast power used government sanctions against those who refused to honor Sunday, and imposed the death sentence on those who observed the Sabbath. And it was protestantism that in early America established blue laws which effectively did the same. Today, the same beast power is using all the influence he can to re-establish Sunday sacredness as a global institution. And the opposition to Sabbath keeping today is well documented and is echoed by all and sundry contributing to threads such as this. Add to that is the fact that the beast itself proclaims that Sunday sacredness is the core doctrine of all religious practice, and is the one doctrine around which all others emenate.
So I make no apology for my stand, nor should you be so flippant about something that history testifies to has taken place previously, and which modern Christendom, both Catholic, protestant, evangelical and even non Christian Judaism, is seeking to establish.
There is nothing wrong with having church services and worshipping on Sunday. The issue is enforcing it under government penalties through dictatorial right wing Christian legislators, then penalizing those who seek to keep God's commandments.
It isn't as far fetched as you would like to make it
Excellent Post - thank you
The Good News is that Christ is the 7th Day of Rest, whereby all who come to Him fulfill the requirement of keeping the Sabbath.
If you are in Christ, you are in God's Day of Rest and no one can remove you from it - no matter what day of the week.
At that time Jesus answered and said, “I thank You, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that You have hidden these things from
the wise and prudent and have revealed them to babes. Even so, Father, for so it seemed good in Your sight. All things have been delivered to Me by My Father, and no one knows the Son except the Father. Nor does anyone know the Father except the Son, and
the one to whom the Son wills to reveal
Him.
Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and
you will find rest for your souls.
For My yoke
is easy and My burden is light.”
Because of Christ's Finished Work, the only way a person can break the Commandment to keep the Sabbath Day is to reject Christ.
