You may have adopted it from another false teacher, namely Calvin who is the originator of OSAS.

Calvin's Doctrine is not mine.

Also, according to the Epistle of JUDE........ this idea of subverting God's Grace, by causing people to misunderstand it, came from religious Jews.

Born again happens when one believes is baptised, and receives the Holy Spirit and enters into His Kingdom. That is a one time event, however it does not mean saved,

To state that being born again is not the same as being saved, proves that your Cult's idea of Salvation is seriously flawed.
But im glad you posted this, as one of the reason's im on Forums, is to show Real Christians, the kind of crazy belief's that "others" are willing to post, and try to defend, and in this way, false theology is plainly revealed for them to AVOID.

Correct only because no believer has received salvation.

Again, you are stating that Salvation is not "the Gift of God."

What Cult taught you such nonsense......?

That might be even worse. He was the first to make this claim. You are either ignorant of the history of OSAS, or you want to take credit for yourself.

But you have not produced any text that supports this idea that a simple one time, mental ascent of faith, finitely grants a person guaranteed salvation. Where is it? All you give are assertions, personal ones at that.
How true could it be when no one heard of it, definitely did not accept it as a doctrine, for 1500 years. The Holy Spirit gave His Gospel, once, in the beginning. The best you can do is say it is of a man, either him or you.
I might add that historically, no man has ever added to the original Revelation. There was no lack in trying to change it. But each time their teachings were rejected. The teaching was declared heresy and in many cases the person as a heretic.
I know without a doubt that what you are trying to teach is not the Truth of Scripture.
Your ego may be hurt, but you know what they say about pride.
Again, you are stating that Salvation is not "the Gift of God."
Everything we receive is a gift of God.

Calvin is noted for TULIP>... "the 5 points"....and the "P" is designated as what you are describing.

But you have not produced any text that supports this idea that a simple one time, mental ascent of faith,

We've had no discussion regarding "mental ascent".

So, you must be talking to yourself.. ??????????

Now, it can be that a person can know the Truth........they can KNOW by revelation, = that Jesus is Real, and Jesus is Risen, is Savior, and they need to be forgiven, and they can resist this..., and this happens all the time, world wide.
So, Calvin will deny this, because he's a fool and demon possessed.....as are his most devoted TULIP heads.., as they literally believe that leading you to Calvinism is "Christianity". "Is Bible"..

And also.... there are those who are water baptized and confirmed.. and very religious, who believe that because they are, they are a Christian, and these are delude Hell bound people, and thousands of them died today.....and they went to hell.....and died believing they were going to heaven.

So, what was their issue, that sent them to hell?

A.) Jesus told them.....>"""you must be born again""" and their WATER CULT lied to them.. and told them that their baptism in water, was what He meant.

They found out the hard way, in Hell, that that is not what it means to be "born again"

I might add that historically, no man has ever added to the original Revelation.

You definitely are not familiar with the "cult of Mary".

Listen, the "cult of mary" teaches that the Bible, the word of God, is merely a starting point, and that the "cult of Mary" Church Fathers added their Teaching and this is equal to and in fact superior to....the Holy Scriptures
In fact, if you talk to a Catholic, they will talk endlessly about "church fathers" "church history", because for them, that is what matters, not the Holy Bible.

I see a lot of digression here and nothing to support your concept of OSAS which you call perseverance of the saints. What texts guarantee in this life one has been saved, that is past tense saved by belief.

Hi @Behold.. I do not fully understand the cross either... But I feel desperate and want to stay saved after an unfortunate event I thought I was not saved. I was having nightmares of it!! I do believe and I feel like I am making some progress now, especially in regards to His Grace and holding to memory this verse:
  • 2 Corinthians 12:9: “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.”

Yes, I thought I wasn't saved just the other day, because I was feeling depressed, as if depression is Gods way of telling me I am not saved! until I realised I was just feeling down and its ok because I suffered a bad time with the end of a relationship, I thought I was not saved because of this.
  • everything belongs to Him, even Salvation and I felt it was enough to transform the suffering and thats why I am making some progress after a hard time in the dumps.
God Bless.
Have no worries, just put all your trust in Jesus as he said;

John 14:23
“Jesus answered and said to him, 'If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home with him.'”

Matthew 28:20
“...and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age. Amen.”

John 14:1
“Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me.”

John 14:26
“But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you.”

in essence Love Him above all else and do as he asks.

About losing salvation,

Jesus had a lot to say about and this taught that the path to eternal life is narrow and that few find it. In Matthew 7:13-14, He said;
"Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it."
This shows that salvation is not guaranteed for everyone, and only those who stay faithful and follow His teachings will enter the Kingdom of Heaven.

Jesus also warned that some would hear the word and believe for a while, but eventually fall away. In the Parable of the Sower, He explained;
"But he who received the seed on stony places, this is he who hears the word and immediately receives it with joy; yet he has no root in himself, but endures only for a while. For when tribulation or persecution arises because of the word, immediately he stumbles." (Matthew 13:20-21).
This illustrates that some will start their walk with God but will not persevere when faced with trials or temptations.

In John 15:6, Jesus made it even clearer, saying;
"If anyone does not abide in Me, he is cast out as a branch and is withered; and they gather them and throw them into the fire, and they are burned."
Here, Jesus compares Himself to a vine and believers as branches. A branch must remain connected to the vine to stay alive and bear fruit. If a person disconnects from Christ through disobedience or unbelief, they wither spiritually and face eternal judgment.

The original apostles also confirmed this truth. Peter warned in 2 Peter 2:20-21;
"For if, after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, they are again entangled in them and overcome, the latter end is worse for them than the beginning. For it would have been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than having known it, to turn from the holy commandment delivered to them."
This shows that a person who was once saved and returns to sin is in a worse condition than before they knew the truth.

James also affirmed this truth when he said;
"Brethren, if anyone among you wanders from the truth, and someone turns him back, let him know that he who turns a sinner from the error of his way will save a soul from death and cover a multitude of sins."
(James 5:19-20).
This verse reveals that a believer can wander away from the truth and face spiritual death unless they repent and return to God.

The Bible does provide examples of those who lost their salvation. Judas Iscariot was one of the twelve apostles chosen by Jesus, yet he betrayed the Lord for thirty pieces of silver. Jesus Himself said about Judas;
"It would have been good for that man if he had not been born." (Matthew 26:24).
This shows that Judas was once in the faith but fell away and was lost.
Another example is Balaam, a prophet who once heard from God but later led Israel into sin for personal gain. Peter referred to him, saying,
"They have forsaken the right way and gone astray, following the way of Balaam the son of Beor." (2 Peter 2:15). King Saul is yet another example; he was chosen and anointed by God but later disobeyed and rebelled, and the Spirit of God departed from him (1 Samuel 16:14)
Jesus' words make it clear that salvation is not a one-time event but requires endurance and faithfulness until the end. As He said in Matthew 24:13, "But he who endures to the end shall be saved." Therefore, those who abide in Christ, obey His commandments, and remain faithful will receive eternal life. However, those who turn away from Him and return to sin risk losing their salvation and facing eternal separation from God.

I already cited several texts that denies the view you hold. Yet I see nothing from you.

You actually believe that posting a verse, proves you understand it.
So, as i said.......

You are not even aware that i quote verses........many, and the reason you don't recognize this, is because i dont post them as the ""Chapter and verse number.""
I do this so that i can discern who is a bible student, vs, just someone who wants to play on a forum and argue their OPINIONS, on theology.

See, I just post the actual verse.......and so, people who are very familar with a NT.... they recognize the verses, and people who study "church father"s" nonsense or dont really study their Bible...(NT)... don't recognize what ive posted for them.

So, just to recap.

1.) "OSAS" is not created by Calvin, its actually explained by Paul's verse and JUDE's epistle.

2.) "Water Baptism" is not required for Salvation......and the reason that religious heretics disagree, is because they are owned by the "cult of Mary" who created the lie of "baptismal regeneration." that they invented in their demonic bible.. the "Douay Rheims"... where they mistranslated John 3 = "born of water"...... as "Born again BY water".

3.) Faith can't save you, as Only ""Jesus Saves.""

Now, you are on my Thread that simply teaches that if you dont believe that Jesus who saved you, keeps you saved, then your faith is broken, and you have become a "self saver". as defined by Paul as "fallen from Grace" and "in the Flesh"..(carnal minded).... and that means you are trying to keep yourself saved.....OR...you are trying not to lose your salvation"......vs, REAL FAITH, that always trusts in Christ to save you and keep you saved.

I can understand your reluctance to actually use the texts and contexts to support your assertions. They won't stand up to scripture correctly understood and has not changed since the beginning. Lots of false teachers have come and gone. They are easy to discern.
Since you are reluctant to really engage, there is no sense in continuing.
