It’s not so much an imagined conversation but consider Luke 16:26-31 …For I have five brethren; that he may testify unto them, lest they also come into this place of torment.

Love the mother saying “I’ll trade places with them.” Sounds like someone else who while we were still yet enemies of God, He cared for those that perish. The disciples cried awaking Him out of sleep, they’re crying “do you not care that we perish?!”

Aionios when applied to our physical realm/ the 1st earth ( which will be destroyed after the Millennial Kingdom), means (ages, generations, lifetimes, epochs, etc.) - not eternity/ eternal.
Sodom and Gomorrah existed on the The NE side of the Dead Sea ( also referred to as The Sea of Lot, The Sea of Sodom, The Devil's Sea, The Stinking Sea.
Historical and geological evidence of many inactive volcanoes existed in this area of the Great Rift Valley, ( the active ones being in East Africa); such as coned shaped craters, volcanic lava sheets, thermal hot springs break out near the fault lines today. So there are underground volcanoes that lie dormant. The destruction of Sodom occurred about 3700 years ago.
During the Great Tribulation, this area may become active once again, split open to create a massive fissure in the earth - opening up a passage to the Abyss, creating a massive lava lake ( Lake of Fire) that many who are warring against Israel, fall or are thrown into.
Sounds like a sci-fi thriller ... nope. And after the GT, it will keep smoldering for a 1000 years more.

The fire that came upon Sodom and Gomorrah was not eternal fire.

The fire that came upon Sodom and Gomorrah was an example, a “type” of the eternal judgement with eternal fire that will be for those who live that way.


Now, on the day of Judgement many of those who dwelt there may indeed suffer to be cast into the everlasting fires of hell along with the devil and his angels if the Lord finds them guilty.

But that judgement is reserved for Him to decide.

This is God's Holiness released as judgement.
Consider that fire is not eternal, unless the context is God's wrath.

Think of it like this..

God's Holiness would make the Sun seem like an ice cube, with regards to HEAT.

Like this.. example.

"The wrath of God remains ON THEM"..

See that?
That means "now and forever" = Eternal.
This is speaking of Damnation, or 2nd Death, or Outer Darkness... the Lake of FIRE.

And the Fire is related to judgment in this case, vs refinement.

The born again are refined...
The unbelievers, never born again, are DAMNED already... already Judged.
The only thing that is keeping them from this 2nd Death eternity is a heart beat and God's Grace.

Some are heaping up wrath unto themselves on the day of wrath . Some are trying to omit the YE MUST BELEIVE
in JESUS part . many are omitting the gospel . And if they continue to do so
when that heart stops beating OR the LORD do come , THEY gonna be full of wailing and regret .

What is backbiting? what is slander? what is meekness?

Here is what stumps me the most. He clarified that he who hates his brother is in darkness still and to hate your brother is to commit murder in your heart.(one tempted Him saying who is my brother?) Fear smart ones can be too confident in their own smartness.
