My day has been brilliant so far. The Tories are out and Labour are in. After the last 14 years of Conservative governments breaking most things about our country the new Labour government has got a lot to do to mend it and it won't get done any time soon, it will take time so I hope people won't get too critical without giving them a real chance.

1 Timothy 2:1-4
I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people - for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. This is good, and pleases God our Saviour.
It’s the worst defeat for the conservatives I believe !
I see liberals got quite a few seats.
I was hoping labour would get in locally, but the greens kept it ( they have created so much debt n Brighton ! )

There are no Tory MPs left in Greater Manchester. I think we have all been so disillusioned with the Tories for a long time. A super wealthy PM out of touch, partying PM and MP's breaking lockdown rules, and recently the betting scandal. And the rest. And as you say the Tories have never had such a devastating defeat - this is historic. And George Galloway didn't get back in - thankfully.

Today was another peaceful and happy day. I saw my husband off at 3am and he began another day of truck driving.

The apartment is mostly clean. Hubby's new chessboard sits proudly in the middle of the coffee table and my knitting project rests beside it.

We talk on and off all day via phone and in person when he gets back. Lunch is steak, broccoli, cauliflower, and jasmine rice.

Then I take off to Whole Foods Market, a swanky type of U.S grocery chain. I found some natural-ish shampoo, conditioner, and soap for us to try. Im not picky. I like big bottles of cheap product.

But Hubs wants certain chemicals off the products.

I also am planning a beef stew so I get two pounds of chuck beef.

Tomorrow I will need to go to a different store and get ingredients for homemade cornbread, beef stew, and command strips for the decorations my in-laws gave us.

How was your day?
Good morning, We are just so grateful to see another day, enjoying everything that our Lord has provided for us to do in working out our salvation.

Love, Walter And Debbie

I am on holiday in Spain - I live in the U.K.
I remember you from when I first joined, you were quite active then, my user name was ‘ Butterfly ‘ then I left and later rejoined. I believe you lost your husband, you mentioned it when you were on here last.
It just kind of stuck in my mind xxx
Right. Yes, because I knew quite a few persons on here back then, so
I guess I mentioned about my husband.
Haven't seen everyone yet,,,,I hope they're still around.
My niece went to the south of Spain this spring - can't remember what the area is called - she
liked it. She likes to travel and is able to do it because she works as a programmer and is able to
do this wherever she is. She was with us this summer for about 6 weeks.
See you around!

I found some soul food recipes on Youtube. Im trying to make southern style collard greens, beef stew, and the cornbread I grew up making. I'm pretty excited about it.

The restaurants around here either don't season their food or are closed all week for 4th of July.

I did the bare minimum today. It's been great
Where is the green with envy button?

Today I did a brake job on my truck. ('08 Chevy Silverado)

So I got the wheels off. (Rotating tires) and went to remove the pin bolts off the calipers only to realize there weren't any. I have no idea how long I've been driving without them. I knew there was a grinding noise coming from front passenger side....

So I had to take the car to go back and purchase them. $20 bolts +$7 for 6pt socket later I'm back home in sweltering heat to change rotors and pads.

This took most of the day....and by the time I was done I was filthy dirty. Pin bolts replaced, new painted rotors in place, new pads, and tires rotated.

I dunno what they charge for a job like this but at a guess around $600+. Parts were $200 for pads and rotors. Rotate tires is usually free from the place you buy them from but Nashville is 7 hours from here.

Tomorrow I guess I better get on making pesto. Basil is all growed up, thyme, parsley and oregano are harvest ready too.

Looks to be a 3 pint batch tomorrow.
Golden husky tomatoes are close to be ready to pick....just another couple of days. Brad's atomic grape tomatoes have been being harvested....had some in a cucumber salad just yesterday.

Then with the thunderstorms today....maybe in the next couple of days I can mow.

@Pearl

I thought about you today. Marriage really is like a dance. You were the one that illustrated that. I didn't mean to "leave you hanging" on that post before. I think my life was just really chaotic at the time. But a dance is a beautiful analogy.

Thanks Wynona, it was an analogy that God gave me and I saw it so clearly. And within a couple of days there were other confirming messages from elsewhere. I used to have so much trouble with that verse that says 'wives submit to your husbands' until God showed me how a dancer submits to her partner to make something beautiful. I am so blessed that my husband has always let me be me and believes in male and female equality in the Church as elsewhere.

Is that you?
You still making chocolate?
Wow. It's been a long time....
I don't do the rounds of the forums...I tend to stay put.
Had to leave the last one....too many changes.

Good to hear you're still at it, keeping busy.
Still working too?

I changed my name but the avatar is the same...
Wondering

Take care.

The weather's not been very nice - wet and windy - but it's not all about the weather. My grocery delivery came early and was quickly put away. And I've just got three tows and a border to finish my crochet 'throw'. All is good.

My day has been good so far. I've been playing my Foot Tapper CD and getting to the end of my crochet throw. My cleaners are here just finishing up and then I'll have another cuppa.

Of course it's me....I don't change. Its wonderful to see you here.
Last bit of chocolate was for a chocolate Italian Buttercream for my wife's birthday. Otherwise it's too hot for truffle making. Our AC is trying but in this old Victorian house....too expensive to run it that cold.

And the good thing about this forum is no fees for PMs.

Yesterday I put up 4 pints of herb pesto (basil, thyme, Italian parsley+garlic and S&P) in olive oil and off into the freezer. I don't put parmesean cheese in it until I'm using it.

And today got the first Golden husky tomatoes from the garden. It was EVERYTHING we hoped it to be. Nice balance between sugars and acids and full of flavor. It's not red....it's an orange looking tomato....but the taste is excellent.

I also had an echo cardiogram today. Contrary to popular belief I apparently do have a heart....however it is very small and covered in icicles. Small wonder considering how many times it's been ripped out.

I live in a valley in the mountains of Northern Tuscany. A very beautiful area.
It's known as the Little Switzerland because the mountains are actually of rock - unlike the hills of the South of Tuscany.
So the weather is nice...but this year it's a kind of hot I've never experienced before. The air is thick and humid and
you could feel it when breathing. So, yeah, we're using the AC but life sure is getting expensive. Food! I think it's up more than 30% since Covid.

And the good thing about this forum is no fees for PMs.

It's also more accepting of normal speech.
There are some on here that would have been banned lickity split.
Some room for remarks is good - as long as it doesn't get too out of hand.
So far I'm happy here.
Weird stuff going on over there....

Yesterday I put up 4 pints of herb pesto (basil, thyme, Italian parsley+garlic and S&P) in olive oil and off into the freezer. I don't put parmesean cheese in it until I'm using it.

I made it for lunch today!
I used pinoli but they cost about $2. .... Is it worth it? I don't think so....my son in law disagrees, so they go in.
For now I'm still making it fresh,,,,as long as the basil holds out.
I don't add thyme.
Will try next time.

Good ! I hate store bought tomatoes. They taste like cardboard.
I make pansanella with good tomatoes:
Tomatoes cut in pieces
red onion, as you like it
basil
roasted bread cubes (like for salad, or any old and hard bread cut small).
extra virgin oil
S & P
fresh garlic, squeezed (or crushed).

Simple and good.

I also had an echo cardiogram today. Contrary to popular belief I apparently do have a heart....however it is very small and covered in icicles. Small wonder considering how many times it's been ripped out.
LOL !!
I get one every year.
Some leak or other,,,but it's steady,,,not really worried about it.

Of course, some on this forum might make it worse !!!
JK
Most are good, that's all we could hope for.

Hubby passed on 3 years ago in September.
They say time heals all wounds.
How long does it take?

Good to see you John DB
I missed you.

Pearl,
I have a BEDSPREAD my aunt made years ago.
It must be worth a fortune.
I'd like to sell it and get some things that my daughter doesn't want cleaned out.
Do you think there's some place where I could sell this?
Any idea how much?
I know I can't get what it's worth --- it's practically priceless.
Plus, these young'uns don't care for this stuff.
Just a thought....

If it was mine I think I would see if I could find a textile expert online and get some advice. But just because it's old and precious to you may not mean it's valuable. Is it crocheted?

I've done six since April. I used to do embroidery but can't see well enough for that any more. This latest one is all different colours of red, some with glitter in. It's come out just as I'd imagined it.
