I live in a valley in the mountains of Northern Tuscany. A very beautiful area.
It's known as the Little Switzerland because the mountains are actually of rock - unlike the hills of the South of Tuscany.
So the weather is nice...but this year it's a kind of hot I've never experienced before. The air is thick and humid and
you could feel it when breathing. So, yeah, we're using the AC but life sure is getting expensive. Food! I think it's up more than 30% since Covid.

It's also more accepting of normal speech.
There are some on here that would have been banned lickity split.
Some room for remarks is good - as long as it doesn't get too out of hand.
So far I'm happy here.
Weird stuff going on over there....

I made it for lunch today!
I used pinoli but they cost about $2. .... Is it worth it? I don't think so....my son in law disagrees, so they go in.
For now I'm still making it fresh,,,,as long as the basil holds out.
I don't add thyme.
Will try next time.

Good ! I hate store bought tomatoes. They taste like cardboard.
I make pansanella with good tomatoes:
Tomatoes cut in pieces
red onion, as you like it
basil
roasted bread cubes (like for salad, or any old and hard bread cut small).
extra virgin oil
S & P
fresh garlic, squeezed (or crushed).

Simple and good.

LOL !!
I get one every year.
Some leak or other,,,but it's steady,,,not really worried about it.

Of course, some on this forum might make it worse !!!
JK
Most are good, that's all we could hope for.

Hubby passed on 3 years ago in September.
They say time heals all wounds.
How long does it take?

Good to see you John DB
I missed you.
Oh Fran....
I have missed you something fierce. A definite answer to prayer. People sometimes just go nuts....but how come we haven't? (Maybe we already went nuts)

My day just got better, England are through to the final of the Euros thanks to a cracking goal in the 90th minute.
a brilliant match - that last goal, amazing. We all had a family bet, and I predicted 2-1 to England at 90mins, so I won £45.00 - bonus.
Wouldn’t it be great if we actually won the final on Sunday, going to be a difficult match as Spain have played well.

There have been so many negative comments form those who have been there and didn't get anywhere near what this team has achieved with Gareth Southgate. Saw that amazing goal when they put Watkins on as a late substitute. First time ever any England team has been in a final on foreign soil.

Yes, for the first time during the euro’s - some of their games have been so boring !
The Spain v Germany game was really good, although there were so many yellow cards given out.
If they play like that we may just have a chance on Sunday !
So do you think it was a penalty or not, there is much debate on it this morning ?
The Dutch goal keeper plays for Brighton and hove Albion - which was weird to know.

Many are making it a point that it is on German soil - kind of relevant to the past !!

Well, thanks for placing me on the hot seat..

It could have gone either way. The Dutch defender had his boot high and nominally with studs 'slightly' out. And of course this instantly arrested the shot from Harry with a collision with his shooting foot.

Without the slow-motion images it seems not a penalty. Under further review, it does seem like the orange chap deliberately kept his foot out to deliberately interfere with Cain's (sorry Kane's) shot. He was not trying to gain control of the ball at all either.

I think we were glad of the penalty, kind of made up for the later ‘ near goal ‘ where the ball just literally stayed on the goal line ! lol
The ref that was in charge of that game had been accused of match fixing, Bellingham one of the people that reported him ( not sure whether that was recently ) so we were kind of concerned as to how it would all go - but it kind of went in our favour

I'm having a good day. It was time to do something creative so while Naomi naps, Im preparing photos for a nice scrapbooking session. Some, Im ordering from the store, others Im printing with the mini printer I got for Christmas one year.

I tied the photos in with the color yellow.

Today…good!

Electricity service back on, phone service back on. Had a few days, no service and water service on off on intermittently.
Today & yesterday 100* mark temps.

Had rain and high winds. About 20 60ft trees uprooted and toppled. Several other trees down and some broke tops off. No building damage, No flooding…but definitely have down trees and limbs mess to clean up and repair some fencing. No injuries and animals all safe.

Praise God,

Since my children were born, I set aside picture and special times just between myself and each child. I have a memory book for each child. The book has some back-ground of my own childhood, and every years special pictures and times little story.
They are not aware of these books. And I continue to make entries. And must say, it is much easier with todays technology. These memory books will be gifts given each child after my own death., for them to reflect on the love and joy that each individual child meant to me.

To me it is sad how many adults have negative memories of their childhoods and many who feel as only being a burden or neglected or unwanted by a parent…which simply does have a life-time negative effect.

Just sharing.

God Bless you and yours.
Glory to God,

Taken

My son's first picture book was a scrapbook I made for him when the money was scarce. He counted things. He learned the colour things. He learned the sound of things. He learned the name of things. It was a great learning tool for him as a small child. But his favourite one for a long time was called 'Jesus is Born' and again we counted sheep and camels and he learned the nativity story as well.

I had a plethora of story books. Every night each child would take turns picking out a book I would read to them sitting on my lap, beside me, so they could see the illustrations. Little did I Know Then, the youngest was profoundly deaf, but mimicking the older kids.
We did the scrapbooks too. And I would take a series of pictures, compile the pictures into a little “flip book”….that flipping the page would appear like a little action clip…for example them walking, toward a swing, sitting, swing forward, then back over and over. Fun stuff!!

A child is never too young for a book. The ones I bought my grandchildren had different textures, made different sounds.

Yesterday morning I mowed the lawn....love it! The look and smell of a well manicured lawn is wonderful.

However....
Some of you may know that I gave my wife a digital watch health gizmo for her birthday. I tried years ago to get her one for her birthday and she shot me down. Now she wanted one so I got one.
However....
The watch band didn't fit right so she ordered some and they weren't any better. So....since I do leather crafts and am not a kit type person I've set upon the task of making her one from scratch. No pattern to follow...no guide book....just "get it done" and make it nice.
Now a lot of leathercrafts I've made look nice and are finished well....except my tool bag. But it does the job I wanted it to very well and has lasted over ten years of severe abuse. (Construction sites full of dirt, extreme Temps, and sharp objects while getting thrown, kicked, dragged, and dropped regularly)

So....I've graduated to makeup bags, friction tube style pen holders and various journals all customized for people. Even a little upholstery work. Just about anything made out of leather I've created from scratch and made....no kits or patterns. Just free wheeling it and its fun overcoming the challenges.

Now back to the watch band. Uggghhhh. Leather goods made from real leather has rather loose tolerances because you are working with a Natural material. Cows, goats, pigs, and lambs get bug bites, scrapes, and branding. So there are usually some blemishes that add to the character. Then comes wet forming and neatsfoot oil that change the shape in minute ways because this again is natural tanned skin that regularly stretches and shrinks....only preserved.

Now I'm trying to make something involving millimeters of accuracy....something reserved for more man made products that don't shrink or stretch so much....they even make leather out of resin and leather scraps and call it genuine leather....as if.

All I got to say is she better like it and I wish she had said yes to the darned thing ten years ago. We would be past this watch strap now.

Good to see you on here!

Hey, Wynona. it's only by God's grace to be still even within this realm of reality, faithfully I believe, Wynona. Thankful to see you are still here as well as many others over the past couple of years here currently, making it without having a permanent ban! Surprised, as normal however, perhaps my behavior in Christ can be more implemented and try to think more throughly when writing whatever may be posted within my sections of the hallway. :) Take care, and thank you for the mention of just saying hello. Sometimes that is something people need in this life, is a simple letter asking about how they are, and wait with hopeful expectation of something be it bad or good, which may come back to us.
