God still does miracles, he just does them directly, he no longer uses the gift of miracles. Did you read Heb 1:1, 2 and 2:3, 4
I am not denying you have had dreams, but it is not God trying to tell you something because i could have a dream with the opposite meaning and there would be no way to determine which is from God. If the way to determine if it was from God is by consulting the Scriptures, then the dream was not needed.
God is always the one dong the miracle!!! Have you not read:
Mark 16:20 And they went out and preached everywhere, while the Lord worked with them, and confirmed the word by the signs that followed.
When you go and do what He actually tells you, then the Lord works with you!!!! And He confirms what He is telling you by the signs that follow, and that includes miracles!!
Mark 16: 17,18 “These signs will accompany those who have believed: in My name they will cast out demons, they will speak with new tongues; they will pick up serpents, and if they drink any deadly poison, it will not hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.”
Yet actually listening to the living word of God, who is Jesus Christ!! Is not the same as searching the Scriptures and thinking they give you life!
Heb 3:7-11 Therefore, just as the Holy Spirit says,
“TODAY IF YOU HEAR HIS VOICE,
DO NOT HARDEN YOUR HEARTS AS [fn]WHEN THEY PROVOKED ME,
AS IN THE DAY OF TRIAL IN THE WILDERNESS,
WHERE YOUR FATHERS TRIED Me BY TESTING Me,
AND SAW MY WORKS FOR FORTY YEARS.
“THEREFORE I WAS ANGRY WITH THIS GENERATION,
AND SAID, ‘THEY ALWAYS GO ASTRAY IN THEIR HEART,
AND THEY DID NOT KNOW MY WAYS’;
AS I SWORE IN MY WRATH,
‘THEY SHALL NOT ENTER MY REST.’”
A voice is not a book. Those who wrote the Bible heard from Him but does not mean you read what they wrote is you hearing Him!! He speaks, but do His people listen to Him???
Is 1:2,3 Listen, O heavens, and hear, O earth;
For the LORD speaks,
“Sons I have reared and brought up,
But they have revolted against Me.
“An ox knows its owner,
And a donkey its master’s manger,
But Israel does not know,
My people do not understand.”
So let's take a look at those verse you quoted but do not understand:
Heb 1:1, 2 God, after He spoke long ago to the fathers in the prophets in many portions and in many ways,
in these last days has spoken to us in His Son, whom He appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the world.
It says we are to hear from "His Son", so not His book, and not from reading what "He spoke long ago to the fathers in the prophets"!!!
So let me ask you what you want to ask others: "Did you read Heb 1:1, 2"???????
It doesn't look like it!!
It you get a dream and want to know if it is from God, ask our Lord Jesus Christ yourself and listen to Him - just like it is written in Heb 1:1,2 - and don't do what they did in the desert when they refused to listen to the Lord on that day!! Do you not know why He spoke to them in the prophets? Have you not read:
Ex 20:19 Then they said to Moses, “Speak to us yourself and we will listen; but let not God speak to us, or we will die.”
They told God they didn't want to listen to Him when He spoke to them from the mountain!! So He gave them the Law, which is written in the Scriptures, but that was never going to save them because they could not follow it!! Or did you not even read:
Gal 3:22 But the Scripture has shut up everyone under sin, so that the promise by faith in Jesus Christ might be given to those who believe.
That doesn't mean that you should read and study the Scriptures - perhaps you will learn and figure out the meaning of the above verses, including the ones you quoted. Yet if you it reads "in these last days has spoken to us in His Son", how is it that in these last days you can not say that He has spoken to you personally to you via His Son, Jesus Christ? Are you not like those He spoke to and said:
Jn 5:39,40 You search the Scriptures because you think that in them you have eternal life; it is these that testify about Me; and you are unwilling to come to Me so that you may have life.
So if anyone has a dream and wants to know if it is from Jesus Christ, and perhaps what is mean, then they should ask Him, or do they not really believe that He is there as our Lord, King, and Teacher, to be inquired of? Perhaps somewhere, is some book perhaps, what He is there at the door knocking with His voice and if anyone (that would mean "Anyone") would repent of their ways and open up to Him and hear His voice, then He will come in and eat with them and them with Him.
Rev 3:19-22‘Those whom I love, I reprove and discipline; therefore be zealous and repent.
‘Behold, I stand at the door and knock; if anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and will dine with him, and he with Me.
‘He who overcomes, I will grant to him to sit down with Me on My throne, as I also overcame and sat down with My Father on His throne.
‘He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.’”
You have physical ears and can hear with them, right? So did He not also give you spiritual ears too, so that you might pick up what the Spirit has to say???
There is still a day to hear from Him, right? There is still a day called "Today"!! But who will listen? Who will even ask Him about a dream they get, even to answer the question posed in the OP "How do you know if your dream is really from God?"
You ask the Lord our God, Jesus Christ, and listen to what He tells you via His Holy Spirit whom He sends with His words!!! And they are words, but some are dull of hearing and not qualified to teach anyone!
And since KUWN likes Hebrews it seems this might need to be read:
Heb 5:11-13 Concerning him we have much to say, and it is hard to explain, since you have become dull of hearing.
For though by this time you ought to be teachers, you have need again for someone to teach you the elementary principles of the oracles of God, and you have come to need milk and not solid food.
For everyone who partakes only of milk is not accustomed to the word of righteousness, for he is an infant.
If all you are getting from the Lord is what you read in the Bible you are not accustomed to the word of righteousness. That is fine if indeed you are a new Christian, still trying to get through the Bible for the first time, but it is not fine if you are think you have the teachings form the Lord to reprove someone concerning the Word of God we preach!
2 Tim 4:1,2 I solemnly charge you in the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who is to judge the living and the dead, and by His appearing and His kingdom: preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort, with [great patience and instruction.
How are you going to preach the word if you don't even know the word of God we preach is found in your mouth and heart, and so not the Scriptures. We study the Scriptures, but in so doing we find that the word of God we preach is Jesus Christ and comes through His Holy Spirit to our spirit! Which is to say that we ask Him and listen to Him in speaking to our spirit via His Spirit!
Rom 10:8 For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone who believes.
For Moses writes that the man who practices the righteousness which is based on law shall live by that righteousness. But the righteousness based on faith speaks as follows: “DO NOT SAY IN YOUR HEART, ‘WHO WILL ASCEND INTO HEAVEN?’ (that is, to bring Christ down),
or ‘WHO WILL DESCEND INTO THE ABYSS?’ (that is, to bring Christ up from the dead).”
But what does it say? “THE WORD IS NEAR YOU, IN YOUR MOUTH AND IN YOUR HEART”—that is, the word of faith which we are preaching,
If anyone has a question, any question, they should seek Jesus Christ and listen to Him! It is that simple! But who will listen?
