but why theos, and not YHWH, iyo?I agree.
And they are not considered to be Christian.
And I also agree that they are antiChrist.
Interestingly, the phrase "Jesus is God" is not in the Bible. Yet, there are many verses that do "imply" that "Jesus is God" but it would be more appropriate to say "Jesus was God in the flesh." In my opinion, this verse says it all without using "Jesus is God"....“Jesus is God”

"Jhn 8:58...Jesus said to them, "Truly, truly, I say to you, before Abraham was, I am."
No other person can claim to be the "I am" as that implies the Jesus played a role in the creation of the universe and the creation of Adam and Eve.
Ok,I confess,I have NOT read this whole thread so I'm just thinking out loud.
IMO EVERYTHING outside the word of God is heresy.
The scriptures teach that within its pages are the "DOCTRINES OF GOD AND OF CHRIST".
2 John 1:19 states that if we transgress or do not hold the doctrines of God and Christ we have no part with him.
We also have to divide out personal doctrine when we study such as 2 Tim.3:10, Paul is telling Timothy that he knows his ( Paul's) doctrine.
We must walk in the doctrines of God straight from the word, NOT what man interprets it to being said. JESUS came to do the FATHERS WILL and share his teachings on what he expects from mankind and what the rewards will be for following.
John 7:15-24,we are not to judge on appearance but judge according to righteous judgement. Today ppl want it to feel right, look good to others so it is acceptable. The WOG however is a 2 edged sword,it is SUPPOSED to cut.
The gift of salvation has been bought and paid for by the blood and life of the Son,the only condition for receiving is believing. However the walk or following is full of conditions in the contract btwn man and God.
We ARE promised eternal life IF.....
We ARE promised blessings IF.......
We ARE promised assurances If......
The hymn Standing on the Promises of God speaks to this, that he is NOT SLACK concerning his promises to us 2 Peter 3:9 for the simple fact he is NOT WILLING THAT ANY SHOULD PERISH.
Examine your doctrine, your church's teachings, your corporate leaning,........everything to get that "yes I hold to the doctrine of God that is solid".
For many are deceived and led astray and will awaken to find themselves CUT OFF from the vine declaring" Lord......Lord....."
Generally, we look to time-honored ecumenical church councils, where certain essential doctrines were discussed. The early Church Councils developed certain creeds which the Church in most all parts have generally agreed with. There has always been disputes over lesser matters like Baptism, Communion, and Church order--these things have more to do with tradition than with doctrine.
There have also been disputes on how spirituality should be demonstrated, to prove whether true holiness has been achieved. This enters into a discussion of how far God's grace goes, for example.
But the basic doctrines of the Church early focused on the oneness of God, on the fact Jesus was God, on the necessity of belief that Jesus is the source of our return to God, etc. And so, things like Trinitarianism and Christology are discussed, and formulated in words most all can sign up for.
Heresy is a direct attack on the beliefs that the Church has historically held to, apart from schismatic differences over tradition. For example, the historic Catholic Church would claim it is the true parent over all churches. But again, this is a conflict over tradition--not doctrine.
Protestants have long claimed that Scripture should be the rule over doctrine and practice, rather than historic tradition. And I would agree with this not just because I'm a Protestant, but also because the word of God is the basis of human judgment--not men.
Men wrote the Scriptures but they were called and anointed by God to represent His word. And I think all true Christians hold that the apostles were reliable. Men are fallible, and unless they are clearly called by God for some task I think what they say should always be scrutinized.
I think we should be less critical of doctrine and be more focused on fulfilling Jesus’ commands. We need to love each other. The world hates its fellow man now.
Well if we knew the correct doctrine we would have one church with no denominations no?
He said CORRECT DOCTRINE . That would exclude the CC by default my friend .BINGO! Finally! Jn 8:32
Jn 10:16
Jn 16:13
Hear the one true church Matt 18:17 acts 1:8

Fundamentally. We seek deeper understanding of what's always been believed. The line that's crossed is when a deeper understanding of what's always been believed requires belief in something that never was believed or requires that something that always was believed no longer be believed. Not sure where this should be...
the study of God seemed appropriate (maybe).
Every denomination has some teaching or doctrine that we would not agree with.
How would you explain the difference between an
incorrect teaching
and
a heretical teaching...?
IOW,,,when does an incorrect teaching become heretical?
Thanks.
No such thing a “essential doctrine”!
Essential doctrine:
Some doctrines are necessary and some are not is an error,
But if your faith requires that the faith of another be wrong, that requirement will be expressed in every statement of faith you make. An example, adding the word ' 'finished 'to expressions of your faith. The 'finished' work of Christ. That word is added because your faith requires that the doctrine of the Catholic Church be wrong. The word is added because it stands as a rebuttal of the error that your faith requires. He said CORRECT DOCTRINE . That would exclude the CC by default my friend .
Its why i keep trying to tell ya .
Great post! Sola scriptura!
Great post! Sola scriptura!
I view this as a contradiction. If some doctrines are necessary, then some doctrines are "essential doctrines."
