The Father had several names in the OT.

He was also called Jesus in Hebrews 1:4.

Jesus inherited his name from his Father, just like we can inherit our earthly father's name.

Be sure, per the verse, that the angel coming with the announcement of "thou shalt call his name Jesus...", that the child was given the Fathers name at that moment.

Wow, you like tomake stuff up dont you.--That would be heresy.

And there you have it...:
"and these three are one"

Three are in the One.
What I've been saying to you all along and what is the understanding of traditional/orthodox Christianity.

In fact, Jesus is from the beginning...from everlasting.

Why do you post perfectly correct verses but then make statements that are not correct?
:(

You see Cooper, all of the above is right.
The problem is that you believe Jesus is the Father.
Jesus is the Son.
Before He was the Son He was the Word of God. John 1:1

The Word was always with the Father and the Word became flesh.
The Word, the 2nd person of the 3 - is now known as The Son.
The Holy Spirit can be said to be the Breath of God or the Love God shares with the Son...

The Father is God but is NOT the Son...
Jesus went to the cross, NOT THE FATHER.
But they are One in being.

As far as theologians can tell, Father never came to earth...
even in the O.T. it was always the 2nd Person...the Word of God, that came to earth.

I'm posting the image again...
It's correct the way it is...

Some see six people: Chief Executive, Head of State, Commander in Chief, Head of Government, Chief Diplomat. I see ONE president with six titles.

You see three persons, I see One omnipresent God with three titles or maybe more, namely "Creator," "Comforter" and Saviour."

There is only ONE true God, yet people make it look as though there are three gods.
This is shameful and misleading.

1 John 3:16 (KJV) - Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life for us:

Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men (Trinitarians), after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ. For in him (Jesus the I AM) dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily. (Colossians 2:8-9 KJV)

Regardless of what people say, there is only One God, in heaven and earth, and Trinitarians make Christianity look like foolishness.

You don't go around in the authority of someone's name without verbally stating it.

Bob, you would not last long as an ambassador.

However "Verbally Stating it" when you don't have it is worthless. One must be UNDER authority, before they can POSSESS Authority.

Actually Truther...
3 = 1

Did you know that if you understood things of God perfectly, you'd also be God.

It's cute how some think they could understand God.
We only know what God wants us to know.
Nothing more.
3=1?

Impossible.

1/3 + 1/3 + 1/3 =1

The way to possess authority is to speak the name of Jesus by faith.(Acts 3-4)

Ah - the 'ol WoF problem. how to move in FAITH when there's no FAITH even on the radar.

SO how do you speak "BY FAITH", when you don't HAVE Biblical FAITH??

Or in the Mark 11:21-24 case how do you NOT DOUBT, when you doubt.

Here is the recipe to using the name of Jesus to get Him to do miracles.....

16 And his name through faith in his name hath made this man strong,...

One must use Jesus' name and have faith in that name(not faith in our faith).

You believe in modalism.
A heresy.

No wonder you sounded right at times a d wrong at times.

I'd day that it's those that come up with heretical writings on these threads that make Christianity look foolish.

Get Jesus to do miracles? He is the Lord and we are His servants. Since when can the servants compel the master to do anything?

I understand what you mean about having faith in the powerful name,,,Jesus. He said whatever we ask in His name we will receive.

How do you explain when we do not receive?
Doesn't this attitude treat God as a santa claus?

No. I do not believe in modalism. There is ONE omnipresent, omniscient God, from the beginning of time till the end of time and beyond.

Find out what modalism is.
Explain it please.

We all believe there is only One God.
How does He "become three".?

SO you actually think that you have a "Recipe" that can "GET JESUS TO DO WHAT YOU WANT"????!!

Sounds exactly like "Word of Faith" teaching - "If you do THIS, Jesus will have to do THAT in response".

So how to you propose to "Have Faith" - when you don't actually "Have Faith" (possessing "SUBSTANCE", And being an "EVIDENCE") at all.

And since Romans 10:17 describes the process of achieving FAITH, how you you propose to use it in your "Recipe".

Based upon his view of Acts 2:38 and this, is he into Oneness?

In my opinion people mistakenly think of God as a trinity because He is Father, Son and Holy Spirit, an easy mistake to make, but as I have frequently said, we are also three in one. The three being body, soul and spirit, but nevertheless, we are ONE person.

Modalism says: "God does not exist as the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit at the same time. Rather, he manifests himself as one person at one time and as another person at a different time. This is like an actor on stage playing three parts, but he can only be one person at a time.

Agreed.
I believe modalism and Oneness is the same,,,not sure.

Also, we can easily fall into heretical language when trying to explain the Trinity/Godhead, which is why I try to be very careful in posting.

For instance, in explaining we could say that a man is a son, a father, an uncle. This is an innocent mistake, but it Is modalism.
