The fifth kingdom is in verses 41-45.
....................................................................................a. Babylonian empire (verses 37-38) - gold
....................................................................................b. Medes-Persian empire (verse 39) - silver
....................................................................................c. Greek empire (verse 39) - brass
....................................................................................d. Roman empire (verse 40) - iron
....................................................................................e. end times empire (verse 41-45) - iron mixed with clay
Chapter 2 does.
Chapter 7 does not, directly
Chapter 8 actually has in verses 20-23....
1. the kingdom of the Medes/Persians. verse 20
2. the kingdom of Greece. verse 21
3. 4. 5. 6. the kingdoms (4) of the breakup of Greek empire. verse 22
7. the kingdom of the transgressors (the little horn and the ten kings). verse 23
The Babylonian kingdom is not mentioned in Daniel 8.
Daniel 2:38 And wheresoever the children of men dwell, the beasts of the field and the fowls of the heaven hath he given into thine hand, and hath made thee ruler over them all. Thou art this head of gold.
39 And after thee shall arise another kingdom inferior to thee, and another third kingdom of brass, which shall bear rule over all the earth.
40 And the fourth kingdom shall be strong as iron: forasmuch as iron breaketh in pieces and subdueth all things: and as iron that breaketh all these, shall it break in pieces and bruise.
41 And whereas thou sawest the feet and toes, part of potters' clay, and part of iron, the kingdom shall be divided; but there shall be in it of the strength of the iron, forasmuch as thou sawest the iron mixed with miry clay.
42 And as the toes of the feet were part of iron, and part of clay, so the kingdom shall be partly strong, and partly broken.
43 And whereas thou sawest iron mixed with miry clay, they shall mingle themselves with the seed of men: but they shall not cleave one to another, even as iron is not mixed with clay.
44 And in the days of these kings shall the God of heaven set up a kingdom, which shall never be destroyed: and the kingdom shall not be left to other people, but it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand for ever.
45 Forasmuch as thou sawest that the stone was cut out of the mountain without hands, and that it brake in pieces the iron, the brass, the clay, the silver, and the gold; the great God hath made known to the king what shall come to pass hereafter: and the dream is certain, and the interpretation thereof sure.
Why are you reading this like you are? Verse 38 is 1 kingdom. Verse 39 is 2 more kingdoms. Verses 40-43 is 1 more kingdom. And verses 44-45 is yet 1 more kingdom. If we add those together--1 kingdom + 2 more kingdoms + 1 more kingdom + 1 more kingdom, that equals 5 kingdoms altogether, not 6.
The way you should be reading verses 40-43 is that all of that is pertaining to this 4th kingdom
Daniel 2:31 Thou, O king, sawest, and behold a great image. This great image, whose brightness was excellent, stood before thee; and the form thereof was terrible.
32 This image's head was of fine gold, his breast and his arms of silver, his belly and his thighs of brass,
33 His legs of iron, his feet part of iron and part of clay.
34 Thou sawest till that a stone was cut out without hands, which smote the image upon his feet that were of iron and clay, and brake them to pieces.
35 Then was the iron, the clay, the brass, the silver, and the gold, broken to pieces together, and became like the chaff of the summer threshingfloors; and the wind carried them away, that no place was found for them: and the stone that smote the image became a great mountain, and filled the whole earth
1) This image's head was of fine gold = 1 kingdom.
2) his breast and his arms of silver = a 2nd kingdom.
3) his belly and his thighs of brass = a 3rd kingdom.
4) His legs of iron, his feet part of iron and part of clay = a 4th kingdom.
5) a stone was cut out without hands = a 5th kingdom.
1) This image's head was of fine gold = Thou art this head of gold.
2) his breast and his arms of silver = another kingdom inferior to thee
3) his belly and his thighs of brass = another third kingdom of brass, which shall bear rule over all the earth.
4) His legs of iron, his feet part of iron and part of clay = verses 40-43
5) a stone was cut out without hands = verses 44-45
Douggg, at times you are one of the most unreasonable members in this forum. No matter what anyone submits that undeniably proves you are wrong about something, you never want to be reasonable and at least admit that maybe you are wrong about that after all, whatever it might be at the time. You won't even entertain that you might be wrong about some things, let alone admit that you are wrong about some things. Why do you want to prideful like that, where, in your mind, only Douggg is the one correct about everything, and the rest of us are wrong, in the event we disagree with Douggg's interpretation of whatever it might be involving at the time?
No wonder we never get anywhere in these discussions. No one can ever admit that they might be wrong about some things even after having been undeniably proven wrong. Granted, some things are not crystal clear, therefore, it is debatable as to how those things should be interpreted. This is not a case like that, though. It is crystal clear that there are only 5 kingdoms, not 6 kingdoms, mentioned in Daniel 2.
