Thesth court doth recommendeth tossingeth thine King James out yonder windowth.

“But, beloved, remember ye the words which were spoken before of the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ; How that they told you there should be mockers in the last time, who should walk after their own ungodly lusts. These be they who separate themselves, sensual, having not the Spirit.” (Jude 1:17-19)

Yes, many speak of them as one thing, like space-time, people say Atonement-and-Resurrection. Claiming we are saved by the Atonement is the theory of the price for our salvation. The practice is the Resurrection. Imagine if the theory was that Jesus will be resurrected on Judgement Day? The Christian religion would never have caught fire. The Resurrection is the practical proof that we, likewise will be resurrected.
That's good, thanks.
There was a lyric in one of our worship songs at church this AM, based on...
"Why do you look for the living among the dead?" - Luke 24:5

Also the aspect that we were, (say again) WE were raised with Christ.
The resurrection symbolizes a baptism, and vice versa.

Romans 6:4 NIV
We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that,
just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.

they shall fall by the sword; their little ones shall be dashed in pieces, and their pregnant women ripped open.
from his mouth came a sharp two-edged sword
So shall my word be that goes out from my mouth
I have not come to bring peace, but a sword
From his mouth comes a sharp sword with which to strike down the nations
For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow

“…them which stumble at the word, being disobedient: whereunto also they were appointed.” (1 Peter 2:8)

I guess we shouldn’t bother with those appointed to the path they’re on…

Which I think is why Jesus advised we not believe 3very spirit, written or spoken of course, but test to see if they are of God.

Jesus was God. I find it fascinating how he would refer to an OT teaching and then say, but I say to you.

When we know God does not change nor contradict himself it makes for an interesting study.

In the new covenant, access was given into holiness. It would now be possible to not only murder in letter but to not murder in the heart.
I do a new thing.

James might not have known that his inspired letter would be part of the Holy Bible as we have it today, but it is!
Irrelevant. James was not referring to the Bible, period. What was he referring to?

You are a mighty Bible IDOLATOR, so I suspect your worship of parchment will continue.

The engrafted word, the word written on the heart, even unbelievers/gentiles can do what the law commands about caring for your neighbor at least as much as you care for yourself, proving that the law is written on their hearts.
If you care for your neighbor as much as you care for yourself, that is from the tablet dealing with righteousness.

I worship God in Spirit and in truth:

“God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.” (John 4:24)

“…thy word is truth.” (John 17:17)

If you believe the nonsense about “Bible idolatry” and marginalize the scriptures and stop reading them fully and frequently you become a candidate of worshipping God in a lie.

While I relish showing atheists how foolish they are, the Christian forum is more like shop talk among fellow enthusiasts.
There's value in fellowship, I get that.
Too often though, it seems like a lot of mindless glad-handing in an echo chamber to me. (sigh)
A controversial question sends the tribe into a tailspin. And I am labeled the bad guy.

Right. Because Christianity crumbles under scrutiny. What does that tell you?
It tells me you're wrong.

Christianity doesn't crumble under scrutiny.
Rather I believe atheism does if any atheist spends time , hours, years, as an active member of a community they know is dedicated to what does not exist; God.
Therein wasting their one and only life's time engaging with delusional people who follow a faith that should have crumbled well and away after 2000 years of atheists scrutiny.

And yet...

Have you been born again by the Word of God?
(Self professing Christians who emphasize their own thoughts, or divine experiences or God talking to them, and who wrongfully de-emphasize the Written Word of God have no true understanding of God’s Holy Word).

How so?
Well, just read the verses or points in Scripture below.

  1. Thy word is very pure: therefore thy servant loveth it. (Psalms 119:140).
  2. “...my heart standeth in awe of thy word.” (Psalms 119:161).
  3. Faith comes by hearing the Word of God (Romans 10:17).
  4. But I will shew thee that which is noted in the scripture of truth (Daniel 10:21).
  5. All Scripture is profitable for doctrine, and instruction in righteousness so that the man of God may be perfect unto every good work (2 Timothy 3:16-17). 1 Timothy 4:16 says, “Take heed unto thyself, and unto the doctrine; continue in them: for in doing this thou shalt both save thyself, and them that hear thee.”
  6. In the Parable of the Weeds, we learn that He that sows the good seed is the Son of man (Jesus) (Matthew 13:37), and yet, in the Parable of the Sower: The seed is the word of God (Luke 8:11). Jesus says: Anyone who hears the word of the kingdom, and understands it not, then comes the wicked one, and takes away that which was sown in his heart. This is he which received seed by the wayside (Luke 13:19) (cf. John 8:43-44).
  7. Jesus says, “…the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.” (John 6:63).
  8. Peter said to Jesus, “…You have the words of eternal life” (John 6:68).
  9. We are born of incorruptible seed, which is the word of God that endures forever (1 Peter 1:23-25). This is the same Word which is the milk by which we are to grow thereby (1 Peter 2:2). This is the same Word by which the gospel is preached to you (1 Peter 1:25). (Note: The gospel is defined for us in 1 Corinthians 15:1-4 and it is how we first get saved).
  10. Jesus says, “Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.” (John 3:5). What is being born again by water? Well, I believe the Bible teaches that, “Being born again by water” is being born again by the Word of God (Scripture). In Ephesians 5:25-27, Christ gave Himself for the church so that He might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word. The washing of the water of the Word is Scripture. Psalms 119:9 says, “Wherewithal shall a young man cleanse his way? by taking heed thereto according to thy word.” 2 Timothy 3:15 says, “And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.”
  11. Jesus quotes Scripture as an authority. In all Jesus' teachings He referred to the divine authority of the Old Testament (Matthew 5:17-18; Matthew 8:17;Matthew 12:40-42; Luke 4:18-21; Luke 10:25-28; Luke 15:29-31; Luke 17:32; Luke 24:25-45; John 5:39-47). He quoted the Old Testament 78 times, the Pentateuch alone 26 times. He quoted from Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Deuteronomy, Psalms, Proverbs, Isaiah, Jeremiah, Ezekiel, Daniel, Hosea, Amos, Jonah, Micah, and Malachi. He referred to the Old Testament as “The Scriptures,” “the word of God,” and “the wisdom of God.”
  12. Jesus defeated the devil by using Scripture. For three words, "It is written" was said 3 times by Jesus in Matthew 4:1-11. This is confirmed by Ephesians 6 with how the Sword of the Spirit is the Word of God which is a part of putting on the armor of God so that one can stand against the wiles of the devil (Ephesians 6:11, 16). For the Living Word (Jesus) is like a two edged sword that divides asunder the soul and the spirit because He always speaks the words of God because He is God (Hebrews 4:12).
  13. If they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them (Isaiah 8:20).
  14. If you do not receive the words of Jesus, they will judge you on the last day (See: John 12:48).
  15. The statutes of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart (Psalms 19:8).
  16. The commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes (Psalms 19:8).
  17. “…thou hast magnified thy word above all thy name” (Psalms 138:2).
  18. Jesus says, He that is of God heareth God's words: ye therefore hear them not, because ye are not of God (John 8:47).
  19. Jesus says, “…man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.” (Luke 4:4).
  20. Paul says, “If any man teach otherwise, and consent not to wholesome words, even the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which is according to godliness; He is proud, knowing nothing…” (1 Timothy 6:3-4).
  21. For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD (Isaiah 55:8).

Agreed. Sacred cows. Ex 32.

Lately, I've become aware of a lot of IDOLATRY among Christians. Knowledge, in general, has been made into an IDOL. In particular, is knowledge of the Bible, and even a particular translation. In addition, people make IDOL's of their doctrines.

On this forum, 2 such doctrines are OSAS and the doctrine that shall not be discussed. Policy - Topics That Can No-Longer Be Discussed at CyB.

I too have asked tough questions and have been disappointed in the shallowness of the response or the questions just being ignored because they are uncomfortable in facing their sacred cows being slaughtered. Reasons Jews Reject Jesus

Maybe you might realize the word he was referring to was, is, God.
Maybe. Might. Double speculation?
“…receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls.” (James 1:21)
This translation makes clear what is being referred to is not a WHO but a WHAT. (CEV) You must stop doing anything immoral or evil. Instead be humble and accept the message planted in you to save you. And that WHAT refers to the oral tradition of the time, passing the Gospel along orally, not to the Bible, which did not exist for centuries to come.
