That's good, thanks.Yes, many speak of them as one thing, like space-time, people say Atonement-and-Resurrection. Claiming we are saved by the Atonement is the theory of the price for our salvation. The practice is the Resurrection. Imagine if the theory was that Jesus will be resurrected on Judgement Day? The Christian religion would never have caught fire. The Resurrection is the practical proof that we, likewise will be resurrected.
from his mouth came a sharp two-edged swordthey shall fall by the sword; their little ones shall be dashed in pieces, and their pregnant women ripped open.
we are not saved by the Bible but the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
Which I think is why Jesus advised we not believe 3very spirit, written or spoken of course, but test to see if they are of God.from his mouth came a sharp two-edged sword
So shall my word be that goes out from my mouth
I have not come to bring peace, but a sword
From his mouth comes a sharp sword with which to strike down the nations
For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow
You know that James was not referring to the Bible, since it did not exist for over 3 centuries, right?“…receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls.” (James 1:21)
In the new covenant, access was given into holiness. It would now be possible to not only murder in letter but to not murder in the heart..**

Jesus was God. I find it fascinating how he would refer to an OT teaching and then say, but I say to you.
When we know God does not change nor contradict himself it makes for an interesting study.
You know that James was not referring to the Bible, since it did not exist for over 3 centuries, right?
Irrelevant. James was not referring to the Bible, period. What was he referring to?James might not have known that his inspired letter would be part of the Holy Bible as we have it today, but it is!
You are a mighty Bible IDOLATOR, so I suspect your worship of parchment will continue.
Great! Then you don’t worship the Bible.I worship God in Spirit and in truth:
There's value in fellowship, I get that. While I relish showing atheists how foolish they are, the Christian forum is more like shop talk among fellow enthusiasts.
It tells me you're wrong.Right. Because Christianity crumbles under scrutiny. What does that tell you?
Maybe you might realize the word he was referring to was, is, God.You know that James was not referring to the Bible, since it did not exist for over 3 centuries, right?
Agreed. Sacred cows. Ex 32.There's value in fellowship, I get that.
Too often though, it seems like a lot of mindless glad-handing in an echo chamber to me. (sigh)
A controversial question sends the tribe into a tailspin. And I am labeled the bad guy.
Maybe. Might. Double speculation?Maybe you might realize the word he was referring to was, is, God.
This translation makes clear what is being referred to is not a WHO but a WHAT. (CEV) You must stop doing anything immoral or evil. Instead be humble and accept the message planted in you to save you. And that WHAT refers to the oral tradition of the time, passing the Gospel along orally, not to the Bible, which did not exist for centuries to come.“…receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls.” (James 1:21)
