May Day - Meaning, Date & Workers Day | HISTORY
May Day is a May 1 celebration with a long and varied history. Along with marking a change of season, it is also recognized as International Workers' Day.www.history.com
May Day is a May 1 celebration with a long and varied history, dating back millennia. Throughout the years, there have been many different events and festivities worldwide, most with the express purpose of welcoming in a change of season (spring in the Northern Hemisphere). In the 19th century, May Day took on a new meaning, as an International Workers’ Day grew out of the 19th-century labor movement for worker’s rights and an eight-hour workday in the United States. May Day 2023 will be celebrated on Monday, May 1, 2023.
Origins of May Day: Beltane
The Celts of the British Isles believed May 1 to be the most important day of the year, when the festival of Beltane was held.
This May Day festival was thought to divide the year in half, between the light and the dark. Symbolic fire was one of the main rituals of the festival, helping to celebrate the return of life and fertility to the world.
When the Romans took over the British Isles, they brought with them their five-day celebration known as Floralia, devoted to the worship of the goddess of flowers, Flora. Taking place between April 20 and May 2, the rituals of this celebration were eventually combined with Beltane.
Your attempt to turn your belief in your doctrinal lie into something that is true, by inviting me or anyone else who can see through your false doctrine, to join with you while you imagine engaging in your cannibalism of the flesh of Christ, has failed. If Rome is your stumbling block, then come to the Feast with Alexandria! Come with Constantinople! But Come!
I would challenge you to identify just one community, founded by an apostle that doesn't hold that Christ is substantially present in the Eucharist..

May day has nothing to do with Labor day. Completely different reasons

What Is International Workers' Day?
International Workers' Day, also known as Labor Day or May Day, falls on May 1 and is a public holiday in over 80 countries. It is meant to celebrate the contributions of workers, promote their rights, and commemorate the labor movement.1
While May Day is also a holiday to mark the arrival of spring in the Northern Hemisphere, it became associated with trade union activities in the late 19th century. Protest rallies and strikes take place around the world on this day, sometimes leading to clashes with police. The Catholic Church instituted the feast of Saint Joseph the Worker on May 1 in 1955.2
KEY TAKEAWAYS
- International Workers' Day, or May Day, is a public holiday honoring workers around the world.
- The roots of May Day can be found in Marxist economic thought, which prioritized the rights of the laboring class over that of the capitalist (business owner) class.
- In the United States, Labor Day is instead observed in early September.
- The goals of the movement that launched International Workers' day were to improve the working conditions of workers, such as better pay, shorter working days, and safer working conditions.
Understanding International Workers' Day
Although Americans celebrate Labor Day in September and associate it with barbecues rather than class struggles, International Workers' Day has strong links to events in the U.S.
In July 1889, Second International, a global organization of socialist parties and trade unions, established May 1 as International Workers' Day and planned protests demanding an eight-hour workday.3
May 1 was chosen because an American delegate said the American Federation of Labor had planned a demonstration on that day the following year. The Americans were commemorating the pivotal Haymarket Square Rally held in May 1886 in Chicago, U.S.3
International Workers' Day wasn't intended to be an annual event, but due to its remarkable success in 1890, Second International made it one. Although it started with demands to reduce the number of hours of manual labor required of workers, it continued to be observed even after that goal was achieved in many major industrial nations.
Historian Eric Hobsbawm said Labor Day is "perhaps the only unquestionable dent made by a secular movement in the Christian or any other official calendar."4
Marxist theorist Rosa Luxemburg wrote in 1894, "As long as the struggle of the workers against the bourgeoisie and the ruling class continues, as long as all demands are not met, May Day will be the yearly expression of these demands. And, when better days dawn, when the working class of the world has won its deliverance then too humanity will probably celebrate May Day in honor of the bitter struggles and the many sufferings of the past."5
Labor Day in the U.S.
While much of the world observes a workers' holiday on May 1, the United States holds Labor Day on the first Monday in September. This was made a national holiday in 1894, following workers' rights movements in the U.S. in the decades leading up to its creation as an official federal holiday.6
The movement was fueled by labor unions and their members, especially in industrial sectors of the economy such as manufacturing, mining, textile makers, and construction workers.
Why Do We Celebrate International Worker's Day?
People in countries all over the world celebrate International Workers' Day in order to respect and highlight the contribution of workers to society. The day arises from activists in the late 19th century pushing for better conditions for workers, such as an eight-hour workday.
Does the United States Celebrate International Worker's Day?
Yes, the United States does celebrate International Workers' day, which is known as "Labor Day" in the country. Most of the world celebrates this holiday on May 1 but the U.S. celebrates it in September.
What Is the Lesson of May Day?
The overall lesson of May Day comes from socialist activists seeking improvement in working conditions. The belief is that unless workers stand up for themselves, they will be exploited by businesses, so they must protest peacefully for better pay, hours, and working conditions.

Thus showing a church tie to another Pagan celebrationAs most people know, Labor Day is a holiday that was established in 1894 to honor the labor movements and unions that improved the conditions of millions of workers. It does seem very modern, right? But it is not! In fact, May 1st was widely celebrated in ancient times too. For the Romans, May 1st was dedicated to Maia, an ancient goddess associated with the element of fire and with fertility. The entire month was - and still is - named after her.
Interestingly enough, Maia was considered a mother goddess and that’s the reason why, after the Christianization of the Roman empire, the Church decided to convert the ancient festival of Maia into a holiday dedicated to another heavenly mother, the Virgin Mary.
Remember how serious they were about priests not being married . That might have incurred a problem right there .i have a better question = Why are so many catholic priests pedophiles all the while ingesting the supposed flesh and blood of Christ?

You're the one who gets nasty every time you admit that in your imagination you commit cannibalism every time you eat the wafer, because of your false doctrine, and every time you invite others to join with you in your cannibalism. My dear FoG,
Just because you cant answer my challenge is no reason to get nasty..
And cannibalism is entirely the wrong way to think about it.. It is this:
"For this reason a man shall leave (his) father and (his) mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh."
This is a great mystery, but I speak in reference to Christ and the church.

Christmas is from pagan origin = just as God's Word declares = Jeremiah 10:1-5Sorely needed at this point I think. ;)
As I stated - Ignatius of Antioch was a lifelong student of the Apostle John and was pas Bishop by Peter. The 'christians' of the 1st Century were already under attack by false doctrine and false apostles even BEFORE the Peter, Paul and John left this earth.
Please read Acts and Hebrews

Saturnalia and Christmas
In Rome, where winters were not as harsh as those in the far north, Saturnalia—a holiday in honor of Saturn, the god of agriculture—was celebrated. Beginning in the week leading up to the winter solstice and continuing for a full month, Saturnalia was a hedonistic time, when food and drink were plentiful and the normal Roman social order was turned upside down. For a month, enslaved people were given temporary freedom and treated as equals. Business and schools were closed so that everyone could participate in the holiday's festivities.
Also around the time of the winter solstice, Romans observed Juvenalia, a feast honoring the children of Rome. In addition, members of the upper classes often celebrated the birthday of Mithra, the god of the unconquerable sun, on December 25. It was believed that Mithra, an infant god, was born of a rock. For some Romans, Mithra’s birthday was the most sacred day of the year.

A minute fraction have been accused of wrongdoing.
On the other hand - molestation in the Protestant sects is OUT of control. According to the book, Pedophiles and Priests, by Protestant author, Philip Jenkins - the problem in YOUR factions dwarfs the problem that took place in the Catholic Church . . .

I figured you'd respond with a worthless comment like that.A "fraction" is the tip of the iceberg.
Roman Catholicism is the leader in corruption via pope, priests and religious hypocrisy.
Protestants who do the same will suffer the same the judgment.
Anyone who does the same will also suffer the same judgment.
